Yup but I will give credit where credit due, the action was good and Smilo acting was good. The story overall sucks but I was entertained by this episode.
What about kiadi Mundi? He was part of the Jedi to sanction this mission and is the one to say that the sith have been extinct for a millennia? Sounds like massive plot holes regardless of if any Jedi survived to tell of the sith, Kiadi Mundi would’ve then logically said something like ‘we have dealt with trained assassin and rouge force users before surely that’s more liked than the sith survived? Beside the sith have been dead for a millenia’ or something - Leslie has dug a whole here and no carpet will hide it
@@DatBoi127 Well, not to be too against the grain, but was the phrase 'red lightsaber' ever uttered to the Coruscant Jedi? Far as I gather, and I've only first hand seen the last two episodes, they know Mae is being trained by a non-aligned force adept, but we the audience were the only ones to ever see the lightsaber. So if they kill off Sol and no details ever make it back to the temple, it's going to be just another unsolved mystery for the Jedi archives. It's still a monumentally stupid thing to do tho, for a Sith who professes to want to be able to do his thing and have an apprentice to then risk discovery by sending (or allowing) his apprentice out to kill Jedi.

What Disney is doing goes way beyond that; they literally don't care.

So out of everything, the helmet/bracer being able to deflect lightsabers is the least offensive. That is actually something that was in Lucas era Star Wars. It was a material called cortosis which had the ability to short out lightsabers. Blades and armor were made from it in some instances when fighting lightsaber users. It's an extremely rare/expensive metal.

The utter disregard and just straight up disrespect for Darth Plagueis by Disney SW is honestly sickening. Without him, there is no Darth Sidious/Palpatine and therefore no Darth Maul, no Darth Tyrannus, no separatist movement, no Clone Wars, no Empire, no Anakin (!) and ultimately no Skywalker saga!! The very things that Disney piggybacks off so much. Plagueis killed his master, his master's other would-be apprentice, and every other force-sensitive being who wasn't already a Jedi whom he thought may pose a threat to his plans. In his guise as Hego Damask he even befriended JEDI MASTERS to maintain his secret and stay on top of things. Why would he let a lone Sith who doesn't even identify as part of Bane's lineage run around corrupting or killing powerful Jedi? Nevermind Plagueis, why would his own master Darth Tenebrous allow that? The Acolyte apparently takes place 'nearly 100 years before the events of the prequels', which themselves take place about 3 decades before the Battle of Yavin. So Plagueis, probably an apprentice at the time (and according to his own words would be well over 100 years old in human years by the time he meets Palpatine), and Tenebrous would very much be alive during The Acolyte. That's the problem with the likes of the Boba Fett show and the Acolyte. From script, to production and some of the acting, it all has a strong whiff of 'amateur' about it. Tolerable as fan fic, but not something with a multi-million budget. A lack of care from Disney over something they spent billions on.
Lets be honest, some of the fan fics have great stories and were really well done (The Old Republic-Rescue Mission, Vader-Pull To The Light, Dark Jedi with some of the best fight scenes)......in comparison to everything that disney has put out.
This would have been quite a decent pilot episode. Aside from the fact all these Jedi masters can only use the force (or thread) when it suits the plot, I feel like if this was the first episode, people would be a lot more into it. This being episode 5 and watching all the crap up to this point and being able to predict almost everything that happened...I'd say it's a 4/10, there was some entertaining elements in this that I thought were very good. in episode 4 Mae said she was going to turn herself in to the Jedi beacuse her sister is alive and yet the next episode she runs from them, tries to kill/escape Jecki. Then she leaves Osha for dead after stealing her clothes to steal her identity? *What is her motivation and who is writing this?????* This is more akin to behavior from someone on bath salts
Probably because the Writers were on something when writing this, or the person in charge of coordinating them was. And the explanation of: "Oh the third Master is dead, that changes things" is complete nonsense. They already believe she's killed 2, a third one wouldn't alter their behaviour and sure enough they weren't going in to kill her immediately, Jecki herself doesn't go to kill her (In fact she refuses to use her lightsaber to easily subdue her the entire time because of that stupid "they don't draw lightsabers unless they intend to kill" BS line). Did she think they'd just walk her to the ship with no restraints, nothing? Really, its because these "characters" are not characters, they are whatever the script demands them to be in the moment.
Omg critical thinking is acc none existent. Mae runs from Jecki because she knows Qimir is there and that they won’t be able to stop him from killing her if they capture her. Which as u can see after Jecki gets the cuffs on her they struggle to do. She also didn’t leave Osha for dead she knew Qimir had no interest in killing her so there was no real threat to leaving her passed out. Maes main motivation is revenge against the 4 Jedi the only one left is Sol, she wants him dead, she needs a way off the island and she wants to find out what he told Osha about the day their family died/ what actually happened so her posing as Osha and going back with him makes sense too

Force users unable to sense anything just blows my mind. Luke, Vader, Yoda, and the Emperor were always sensing emotions, motives, even thoughts. I mention these characters because they were the characters from the original movies that EVERYONE should have seen and know the force from. That should be the very least a writer should know before writing.
Yes. Exactly. They could tell, even leaving out the Force side of stuff you can usually pick up on body language, facial expressions, the way a person speaks / tone of voice if something is wrong or off with them. If they are upset or bothered by a problem and trying to hide it or keep going. People do have a six sense you can get a vibe, a feeling a gut instinct if something is off. If you add the Force to that, he would pick up on her being a switch in short order...they would give it away sooner rather than later...
They explicitly have full on mind probing now and can get exact information. Qimir even said if his helmet was removed they could directly read his mind. Now if only he was standing around without his helmet before...
This show is a MASTER CLASS in bad writing. 1) They attempt to set up the idea that those giant tree bugs were attracted to light. They also (probably unintentionally) set up that light sabers produce a LOT of light since Yord uses one to see inside the dark cave. But then while the entire throng of Jedi and Sith are using lightsabers the giant tree bugs are just like "nah, we're good", but as soon as Mae turns on a tiny led flashlight and conveniently glues it to Darth Teeth's back, the giant tree bugs are like "yea, now we're talking" and attack him. It's like the writers are not even aware that they have to be consistent with their own writing. 2) There is such a lack of character development that is almost seems intentional. Yord dies in literally the EXACT SAME state he was introduced as - a lame male character who is rigid, corny, unsure of himself, and is absolutely incompetent without the help of a stronger female character. Jacky or whatever her name is does a better job than him, so his arc is inexplicable in the negative, he dies being less that what he had already not been able to become. It almost takes skill to be that bad at writing basic character development. 3) Apparently the Sith would have been a good Sith had the Jedi just let him be free and express his dark force without restriction. He isn't a bad character, he was just oppressed. Brilliant 🧐
Oh, but for some people that can't tell bad writing from their own chocolate starfish, the show is "decent if you watch it for yourself" and "just enjoy it because it's Star Wars." Such a damn cop-out.
Something I immediately thought of when osha sticks the light on smilo rens back that I have yet to see anyone talk about is that he could’ve just used the force to pull it off. They literally just forget about all force powers to serve the plot.

At this point I have to assume that this was an intentional gag to make fun of Rings of Power for pulling that Sauron nonsense lol that's the only way it makes sense
With the Smilo Ren being Ezra reveal, you have to remember that the writers are bad at their jobs. All the things that made him seem like a blatant red herring? The writers thought those were subtle clues. They didn’t realize they were leaving a mountain of neon-bright evidence that pointed to the one and only suspect. ...huh. This is actually a good time to roll out the Glass Onion ‘No! It’s just dumb’ meme.
That's it though they have to drop evidence, to some is blatant to others not so much. If it was a character out of nowhere, like say one of their mothers, that would be bad writing

To be fair to “Darth Mandibulous” over there that armour isn’t actually a concept they just pulled out of nowhere. They are metals in the Star Wars universe, that can actually short out lightsabers. Cortosis comes to mind, as it was integral to Darth Bane’s origin story.
This is so silly. I can understand the physics is not something that plays a big role in SW, so they can get away with making up weapons and armor with various properties willy-nilly, but even if there's a metal that for some reason is completely impervious to anything one would assume it would see a wider use at least in the military.
@@BoraHorzaGobuchulCortosis has a unique property in that it can absorb insane amounts of energy (Lightsabers, blaster bolts, plasma drills, etc). However, it isn’t incredibly strong like Beskar is (we see it get destroyed by blunt force in this episode). It’s also incredibly rare, dangerous and difficult to mine, which is why we see it so rarely. Other mentions/uses of Cortosis: The separatists had a factory during the clone wars that was used to make Cortosis armored B2 Battle Droids, but it was destroyed by Thrawn, Anakin, and Padme (Canon). There was also a Darth Vader comic where a Cortosis blade was used by a group of surviving Jedi to (almost) kill Vader.
@@BoraHorzaGobuchul This isn't really a point of failure for the lore. It's rarity, its volatility, etc. These are actually aspects of materials irl which are taken into consideration when mass producing weapons, armor, etc.

So, let me get this straight: Smylo Ren wanted Mae to kill the Jedi, so he himself stays hidden and to test her, but at the same time, he provided the tools for the job as Qimir, got caught on a stupid bait by the Jedi, and when Mae turned herself in, he decided to kill them himself because what, Mae might reveal his true identity even though she didn't know it? Simply brilliant writing, Leslye.
Yup. And Mae found purpose in doing the tasks for the guy that calls himself a sith, and those tasks by some huge coincidence is attacking the very Jedi she hated most from her youth, but when she found out her sister was alive she no longer wanted that purpose and didn't want to hurt the Jedi so she decided to turn herself in so she could be with her sister again. Then, when she turned herself in she.... changed her mind? I guess? And no longer wanted to make peace with the Jedi? So she hurt Jedi and resisted, causing some to be killed. And she also no longer wanted to be with her sister, or even keep her sister alive, so she abandons her sister alone on a hostile planet and... goes with the Jedi? And the motives of the other characters are even worse.
‘I want to die’ *stops May killing him ‘Ok I’ll die’ ‘I’m going to kill the Jedi’ ‘I’m now going to hand myself in’ ‘I’m now going to resist arrest’ ‘If you leave I’ll kill you’ ‘I care about my sister I thought I killed 16 years ago but it wasn’t my fault even though I lit the fire.’
I'm surprised I'm taking the show's side but here goes: She wasn't gonna reveal his identity (it's obvious cuz she literally didn't even know it). She would've revealed that the sith were back. Not trying to be rude but I thought it was obvious.

To be fair about the helmet, metal material that shortens out lightsabers like cortosis have been a thing in Star Wars lore since the early 2000s. It's just that cortosis was supposed to be something that was very expensive to mine or refine into anything useful. It's been a known thing since the days The Old Republic, and when The Clone Wars started the Techno Union (as part of The Separatists) had the money to process it. But Anakin Skywalker personally put a stop to it. So in lore it would make sense for someone in The High Republic to have cortosis armor or something similar. It's just the sort of thing that you need to *explain* to people before presenting it and confusing them.
Or you know... hear me out, you introduce something as a surprise for the general audience and a treat for lore nerds, and then explain later. Dont need to have an exposition about every item in the show. Otherwise we could say they never explained how stun blasters work in the show before showing it stun people and other dumb shit. We have plenty of shit to complain about, but this isnt one of them. Now if they NEVER address it then you can complain - because at best they just thought it was cool and lore nerds can at least rationalize it, but thats not great story telling (which TBH is a real possibility with the rest of the bad story telling theyve been doing)
I believe, if I am not wrong the last time that it was ever recorded a cortosis blade was some months after order 66 when Vader thought Obi-Wan was spotted, but instead it was a trap by some surviving jedis. Still is known well in the Star Wars community that cortosis is something not easy to obtain even with a bunch of capital like the Separatists had. Which bring us to another fact, the Separatists indeed were about to lose the war it was just a matter of time due to spending on a lot of expensive military operations like the Malevolence or the mining of cortosis which in the end it either were destroyed or sabotage.
I thoughts exactly. The creators were expecting their audience to be doing homework. But the whole idea of adapting certain material or making certain plot points return to whatever it is you're bringing to TV or film, is to focus on the important plot-beats, NOT EXPANDING THE UNIMPORTANT ONES. Movie and TV makers: PRETEND LIKE THIS IS THE FIRST TIME ANYBODY IS SEEING YOUR STORY AND PUT THE SAME AMOUNT OF EFFORT INTO IT!!!!
Yes! I am actually thrilled to see a correct depiction of cortosis, which was a big deal in the old republic. Sucks that it's in a bad show, but it is not one of the things making the show bad.
The “head butting” thing didn’t actually bother me. It’s probably cortosis. A material not often used in the Star Wars, due to its extreme rarity, and the very low chance of encountering a lightsaber wielding individual.
The mechanic is fine, how they introduced it was horrid. It's a bad idea to introduce a new mechanic that completely change the status quo of a conflict when your story is peaking, it completely kills off any drama and comes across as an ass pull. That's why in A New Hope the scene of Luke beating the remote sphere was so important, it set up him turning off his targeting computer and trusting the force at the end.
I never thought that made sense. The second part I mean, people involved in Jedi vs Sith gobbledygook would and should 100% look for it and pay whatever to get it. It doesn't matter if 99.999% of the galaxy wouldn't, the ones we are following in the stories we watch and read should. The fact that we are supposed to believe they kinda don't care for it is dumb. You are telling me Palpatine didn't have underwear made out of that stuff when it's known it exits? Gtfo lol.
this is another example of "you COULD make it make sense.... IF you do the writers job for her and go look it up....", which, frankly, is ever worse then it just not making sense in the first place Unless you know the deep lore of Star Wars, none of that makes any sense to you. And if you do know the deep lore of Star Wars.... why is Ki-Adi Mundi even alive at this point and how did he forget about all this 100 years later when it was really important? This is a show that both demands you know more about Star Wars then the writers, and will punish you severely for knowing more about Star Wars then the writers. Then insult you on twitter for pointing this out. So yeah, the problem isn't so much that you can headcannon this stuff away, it's that you HAVE to headcannon it away because the show is just that terribly constructed.
Could also be beskar, the helmet looks a bit mandalorian. But on the other hand, I haven't touched the series, nor am I watching any star wars thing which is pumped out by Disney. Though I will buy Star Wars Jedi Survivor game, when I get the chance, because I loved Fallend Order.
4:37 he’s using Cortosis in his helmet, very rare in the Galaxy. In the book Thrawn Allegiances, the separatists tried to mine cortosis but the factory was destroyed by Anakin. It was to be used in Clone armors and of course it was under orders from Sidious who wanted to be more prepared for order 66.

The helmet and gauntlet explained by the EU: "Cortosis was a metal that had a very high energy absorption rate and transmission coefficients, which allowed even the energy of a blaster bolt to be dissipated upon contact. One of the strongest minerals in the galaxy, cortosis could even withstand the blow of a lightsaber and briefly short out its blade"
The issue isn't that cortosis or whatever alloyed form it is in is used. It is that the writer's didn't give it an explanation in the story and this is one of the few things that should have had a small bit of exposition to explain it. Think like when Obi-won explained a lightsaber to Luke. A simple solution (provided by EBN last night durring their recap of the edisode): Lightsaber hits helmet and shorts out. Jedi 1: "oh no, cortosis" Jedi 2/padwan: "what's cortosis" Jedi whatever: "it shorts out lightsabers, everyone avoid hitting the helmet" Or any variation of a conversation like that. Short, simple, and tells the audience what it is and what it does and why the jedi should be wary of it
@kaeli3952 as much as I've complained about the writing on this show what you just described is the absolute WORST kind of exposition. 2 things first it's possible for other characters to not know what something is, secondly this is a TV show which generally tend to have things explained on follow up to something. If the next episode they have Qimir explain to Osha about his helmet that would be a natural and satisfactory exposition dump.
The fact that he left the dead bodies of his friends and his padawan just lying around in the jungle was the worst. Let alone all the lightsabers lying around. Old Ben at least burned the Jawa bodies and Ahsoka buried all the dead clones.
This is just nitpicking, he would have had to go tell people what happened as fast as possible because of a Sith surviving being such a huge thing. Jedi think the Sith are extinct and run into one, is he really going to spend an entire day picking up lightsabers and burying bodies at such a moment?
@Codrelan Sol could've at least walked over to their corpses and mourned for them. I liked all the parts of Disney Wars where if you get stabbed in the gut by a lightsaber (which instantly cooks your internal organs) it is a minor inconvenience.
As soon as he didn’t kill sith dude when he had the chance after all his Jedi friends were murdered I was done and turned it off. Even the schadenfreude has worn off.
The helmet thing is probably derived from the old EU, where there's a special metal called cortosis that deionizes lightsabers. There's a very limited supply of the stuff, kind of like how The Mandalorian did beskar (which is similar because it can resist lightsaber strikes). It's super stupid, though, that they'd use it here without either foreshadowing it, or providing some kind of explanation, or at least making it a main plot point. I suppose the next episodes could deal with it properly, but I'm not holding my breath.
A reminder that everyone who died is dead because Osha refused to stun-gun her murderous sister in Ep2. The same sister that tried to kill Osha 15+ years earlier. Mae even inexplicably WANTED to be arrested shortly after escaping, just to be with her sister. So if they captured her back in ep2, nobody would have gone to that jungle planet. SmilORen would have no reason to go there and kill the wookie Jedi either. Osha is racking up more bodies than Mae at this point.
@@Wawa-ki9zi That's true, too. Back in ep2, Yord wanted to go in and confront him. Since Yord always seemed to be the most eager to mind-read people, the fact they shot down his idea and then let the Sith guy go potentially makes Yord the only victim in the sequence of events (aside from the unnamed red-shirt Jedi that died). If everyone hadn't shot down his idea to take more aggressive action and opted instead to treat the fake apothecary/Sith guy who aided a murder with kid gloves, they could have avoided this. So Jecki got herself killed for coming up with her dumb disguise plan and Sol helped by agreeing with it and letting Sith-boy go afterward. If they went with Yord's plan, they might all be alive and the Sith guy discovered earlier.
EXCELLENT COMMENT, "xel"!! I was going to do a rant of why I am angry with this episode. Its not just bad. Unlike Critical, I am also offended by the unnecessary death of the so called "hero" of story - OHSHA [ named after a safety agency, according to writers...no joke..! ]. i AM SORRY, I know its just a story, but watching the ONE REAL COURAGEOUS CHILD, Jackie the Padowan and watch her died...my disgust for OHSHA was complete! And Mae is and evil coward and opportunist. ALSO, KEEP in mind, that at end of show OHSHA shows no sympathy or compassion for any of the dead and neither dose Saul the last living Jedi, . THEY LEAVE THE DEAD BODIES to rot in the jungle and we are not even shown any reverence or prayers done over the dead Jedi!!!!!!
@@lukeyznaga7627 They didn't even get a funeral pyre like what Vader and Qui-gon got. It's really cold. Sol walking away without even taking a moment to mourn their deaths would only make character sense if it is revealed that Sol is actually an cold-hearted asshole by the end and not the nice guy he keeps presenting himself as. But nah, pretty sure it's just for the writers convenience to move plot along. It would get complicated to have a sorrowful character moment and draw things out and somehow excuse how Sol can't figure out Mae is disguised as Osha when she can't feign sadness and doesn't even know Jecki or Yord's names. And yeah, in one of my other comments I remark how Osha shows more regret for accidentally leading to the death of a dumb bug in Ep4, but where is the grief, anger or any other emotion for Yord, Jecki, or any of the other dying Jedi?
I think his vambrace and helm are made of Cortosis. Which would have been a cool Legends reference if this show had decent writers and they had found a way to explain that to viewers.
For some context his armour is made of cortosis which the separatists actually did try to make battle droids and armour out of but the factory was destroyed by Anakin and Thrawn.
funny thing is here that i can guarantee you the writers have never heard of cortosis. because if they had, they would be diehard star wars fans. opposite of which is what the show has proven 5 gazillion times before that they are. im guessing they just made it do what they needed it to do for the plot and got lucky. if they didnt they googled if its possible and found this detail. which they would have obviously mentioned because everyone who doesnt know will certainly be mega confused watching it
@@yihadistxdl951I consider googling details of Star Wars lore as above the writers skill level Just bad writing not putting something in earlier explaining the existence of this or why wouldn’t it exist in the future movies?
@@yihadistxdl951 Isn’t this show for the new diverse fan base? Don’t think they’d know about anything from the clone wars so either the writers explain it in the last couple shows (which would shock me) or it goes unexplained to more casual fans.
Disney still in the habit of having characters stab other characters with a lightsaber as if it was a metal blade as opposed to just slicing them in half. Not like it wouldn't be like a hot knife through butter.
@@lazeatscrayons2426 Too violent? There has always been amputations in star wars since the OT, its the most effective way to win a duel. Also have you forgotten Maul getting literally sliced in half like more than 20 years ago? Expensive my ass, they had a 180 million dollar budget. And don't forget Dooku getting beheaded by Anakin or the very very long lits of amputations across every movie, come on.
For real, it's like Michelle Yeoh, they keep putting her in terrible tv..first Witcher, then disney keeps using her for woke points..it's disrespectful..
Ah. So they never even mention cortosis in the show, much less explain what it is, and then made it instrumental in the fight scene. Great. If only we had a character challenged to kill Jedi without a weapon who could have been exploring options to level the playing field while adhering to the letter of the rule. That sure would have been a great way to organically establish cortosis within the show. But who could _possibly_ have such a niche goal to fill that role?
Lmao that is an excellent point. The only thing I can think of is that Smilo’s master gave him the same challenge and this was the solution he found, now he is hoping Mae discovers another method
Wow its almost like you can introduce something to surprise the audience and THEN talk about it later instead of stopping the episode and all action to have a character give a history exposition about minerals like hes fucking Hank from Breaking Bad.
@@Orapac4142 Yeah. I sure would have hated if the ‘talking in an apothecary shop about how to bypass a Jedi’s defenses’ or the ‘walking in the woods talking about ways to fight a Jedi weaponless’ scenes had all of their _pulse pounding action_ interrupted by an easily-integrated comment about other ways non-Jedi have leveled the playing field with Jedi. And you think _Hank_ was the one that talked about science on BB? I’m worried to ask who you think blew up the Death Star.
@electricbayonet2 I didn't say science, I said minerals. Remember hank getting his mineral obsession? Also we all know Jar Jar blew up both death stars
Some people defend Sol's choice of leaving the Jedi's bodies behind, saying "What's he's supposed to do, carry them?" Well, he could use the Force. "But he's tired!" Then he could have, at least, took their lightsabers. And stopped to pay his respects. "But Ezra is still out there! Sol can't stay around!" Maybe Ezra WOULDN'T be roaming in the jungle if Sol had just KILLED HIM when he got the chance! Seriously, WHY did Sol spare Ezra's life? WHY?
Watching a decent episode after 4 spans of shit is like finding a birthday cake in a landfill. It's a pleasant surprise, but probably not something you should plan your day around.
“It’s the least bad episode yet” drinker says, behind him a black curtain, and behind the curtain, the mouse is holding a gun Ladies and gentlemen, they got him
Cortosis, the metal that disables lightsabers, has been around since before Disney took over. My question is, why even fight the Jedi in a manner as if their lightsabers could hurt you? Just let them swing and short out their lightsabers.
Cortosis is a very rare metal, I think. I believe cortosis blades existed in some older SW games. And Cortosis Armor for Super Battle Droids is present in a mod for Jedi Academy, costs quite a bit of points.
Yeah, don't understand how even with Kennedy's new post-Lucas 'direction', she can casually dismiss the same kinda obsessisve 'male-dominated fans' that'd appreciate the minutiae of the metal 'Cortosis" to begin with?!
Writing will only get worse as the years progress. People actually had to go on adventures in the past. It was normal to know people in your life who fought in wars, traveled to far away places for weeks, survived harrowing experiences. What do writers know about the range of how people react in situations if they never experience anything besides film/tv writing that came before them? The point about Master Squid Game and the clearly other twin sibling leaving without burying anyone is spot on. As people watching, it is unconscionable to us that they would leave without collecting the bodies and weapons of their comrades. What does some insulated elitist writer, who has never experienced loss in battle, know about how they would react or what they would do? TV and movies used to be a version of reality with fanciful additions. Now TV and movies are based on TV and movies with barely a thread of connection to how humans actually interact in the real world.
Except the twins in HOTD died in the most tragic way. They're just doing their job to do their duty. While the twins in the Acolame is just another "Bad Twin switching up with Good Twin"
It’s actually a really great through line to compare the shows. The difference between how the switch is handled is night and day between the shows. (Although if I’m being honest it’s still a little silly in HotD)
@@thepikminbrawler1746yeah but at least the in universe characters acknowledge how stupid it is, aegon dint care he just wanted blind revenge, so it seemed perfectly fine to him to send a twin alone into enemy territory. He couldn't care less how Otto immediately dismantled his plan with simple logic, my man wanted blood. Compare that to the acolyte, a show that can't let their leads make dumb decisions so in turn dumbifies everyone around so plot can happen. Baffling.
Just a reminder Darth Plagueis was alive during this time. By the time he meets a young 17 year Palpatine in school he's over a 100 years old. I'm sure the Sith would be fine with people calling themselves "sith" lords. (NOT) they went out their way to especially kill any who would take up the name. Plagueis cleans house of any gifted force users who were even willing to be dark.
Maybe Qimir is Darth Tenabrous' current apprentice. Sith often train replacements so perhaps Plagueis is Qimir's replacement, especially since Qimir attempted to train his own apprentice under the guise of an Acolyte same as Dooku did with Ventress and Savage.
@@SharkMako Plagues made it a point to go around and butcher any other "backs up" so even if that true, That means Qimir about to get messed up but I dont see plagues appearing, so I doubt this thoery
@@zachdillenger5468 Plagueis is the back up here, at this point in Legends Plagueis would be around 37-17 I'd prefer him be younger so he'd be a true replacement for Qimir. Tenebrous even had a backup for Plagueis so it wouldn't be surprising if Plagueis too was a replacement at one point. Plus then he'd know to look out for any potential replacements (Darth Venamis) as he already knew his master didn't respect the rule of two as much as he did.
@@SharkMako No he wouldn't. He would be much older. Like 50. Tenebrous only had others who were garbage in the force because him and plagueis had a fallen out. They both knew that banes rule of 2 of was over and immortality was the goal.
@@SharkMako Unlikely considering Tenebrous spent time to get find Plagueis parents mate. And no Sith would reveal himself as a Sith until the time was right as Darth bane said. So your theory falls flat. The simple thing is Disney has no idea about the canon of star wars. Tenebrous was looking for immortality and spent time with his master as creating a virus to shut the jedi off from the force.
The writing is still absolute garbage, but the fighting this episode was not only good but convincing. Unlike Ashoka, they fought so slowly in that series.
Yeah but the normies in the audience won't know that. To them it's just a bullshit magic hat. A good writer would work needed knowledge into natural dialogue as the investigation went on. This lame dogshit just throws in whatever is needed for the plot.
3:07 no I didn't know that duel went on too long cause I was in awe watching prime obi Wan and Vader deul each other. It was the peak of star wars entertainment for me.
Thanks for keeping my up-to-date on the smolders of the Star Wars franchise while saving me 70% of the time cost as well as upping the entertainment probably 50x
He was wearing Cortosis armor. A very rare material that is similar to Beskar (aka Mandalorian Iron) but can absorb massive amounts of energy to the point where a lightsaber blade can short out from constant contact. Darth Vader fought an assassin using a set of twin swords made of that material in a comic once. He was caught off guard that the swords could block and deflect his lightsaber strikes until his blade shorted out, but then Vader just resorted to his old faithful “FORCE CHOKE” to put an end to the fight. I’m surprised they actually thought to bring that up.
“Times were different then, there were entire stories made of quality. But the age of decent world building and writing were over….a new age had begun….the age of the schmutz. It didn’t matter what you wrote, or how bad it was….what mattered was how you made a message. You could tell a lot about a writer from their schmutz, were they cringy?, were they schmutzy?, were they insecure about the shape of their head? Either way schmutzing was dumb and the fanbase wasn’t having it”
For a show that tries to deny the extended universe exists its funny that they used the exact properties of Cortosis. From Wookipedia - Cortosis was a metal that had a very high energy absorption rate and transmission coefficients, which allowed even the energy of a blaster bolt to be dissipated upon contact. One of the strongest minerals in the galaxy, cortosis could even withstand the blow of a lightsaber and briefly short out its blade.
He acted so much like a fool the sith dude that he knew the Jedi would overlook it, similar to Yoda acting silly at first around Luke. As for him letting mae walk away ... He did warn her that the sith master will kill her if she betrays him, he played dumb because he was still in character. I mean why did palpatine allow grevious to grab him by the shirt in the original clone wars ?
