Those fights had emotion and purpose, these ones don't. Can you even tell me what they are fighting for? I'll admit the way he killed Jecki was pretty cool and some of the choreography was good but the directing and editing kind of let it down. Seems like they even sped up some scenes to try get that prequel look. Choreography alone doesn't make a good lightsaber fight though, In the Kenobi show the directing and choreography wasn't great in the final fight scene between Vader and Kenobi but the emotional weight it carried made up for all of that. The writing and directing ruins these fights. And no 10 year old me wouldn't have liked this any more. My least favourite fight in the prequels was always the fight between Dooku, Anakin, Yoda and Kenobi in Episode 2 and the choreography there was top notch, but there wasn't as much emotion or purpose as the other fights. I may not have fully understood why I didn't like it as much back then but I do know

I can understand this argument for most people in star wars who stop right before the kill, but this is a jedi in the late republic. They won't ever do anything if they realize they are being guided by anger and emotion. As soon as sol realized he was courting the dark side, it's not like "oh I really still want to kill you but I'm not going to", it's that the iedi right now ate so afraid of giving in to the dark side that now he actively does not want to kill him.

Order 66 was thousands of Jedi dying simultaneously. This was about 8 dying within 20 minutes.

The forest may have been shrouded by the dark side which covered the disturbances in the force when those jedi died. Remember how everything became dark when Mae realized that Darth Smiley was there in ep 4? My guess is that he used an aura to cover up their everybody's presence so that the jedi temple wouldn't feel their deaths through the force. I'm not contradicting what you're saying. This is just my opinion of it

Qui-Gon couldn’t sense Maul behind a door.

Nah there are def cool moments in it but overall it’s just as weird and convoluted as the rest of the show. Just the 5 Jedi twirling their lightsabers at the beginning nowhere near the sith totally took me out of it.

I liked this fight more regardless. It's just a shame it can't save the show as a whole. Too much damage has been done, and I strongly feel like the remaining episodes will be just as bad as the last 4.

This wasn't as good as the prequels, which were themselves not perfect. I guess you could say this is the best choreography in two decades.

@dbks_ I mean yeah when he broke his neck it was definitely shocking but I felt no weight or even dred for him when he died. I didn't really feel that for most of these characters. That's just me. Like I said this show has an audience. You and me can feel differently and that's fine.

@perssontm1628 also I wouldn't say the choreography was better than really any of the prequel fights IMO. It was definitely better than anything Disney has put out fight wise absolutely. They finally made them look like real skilled fighters but it felt very much like the Dark Knight trilogy where it was alot of waiting to attack. Still very good but that's just me.

Also, sith force pulls a knight into his blade impaling him against another Jedi. 3 seconds later, can’t force pull Mae as she runs away.

I think with the padawan he was testing as he said he wanted a padawan. Since he lost mae my guess is he was trying to recruit Jecki. Then she hit his helmet off and thought welp now you gotta die

In universe explanation: The padawan gave him trouble because she was trained by sol and he was the only one who actually beat the sith. So the 2 of them clearly put more time and training in combat vs other jedi who have mostly gotten soft and less prepared for combat. Irl reason: she's the X23 actor from Logan and the showrunners said they thought it would be cool to have x23 but with a lightsaber I'm star wars, and I'm inclined to agree. At least she was finally defeated and they had the balls to kill a child on screen. She got ventilated.

Just because you aren’t a master doesn’t mean your weak lol Anakin was stronger than majority of the masters in his era when he was padawan , sith focus on power and strength, jedi don’t meaning many jedi masters aren’t anything special

Also jedi are taught to disarm and subdue, the only ones who were tryna kill him was sol and his padawan, they were using emotions to fight which is forbidden, episode 3 anakin vs dooku, and return of the jedi Luke vs Vader are perfect examples of this

Honestly this fight was too played up. Felt very predictable and just furthered the plot in ways the writers wanted it too that made no sense combat wise. You have a padawan beating the acolyte in hand to hand combat after she trained for 17 years. You have the sith swinging like a child and dragging on his kills. For a sith that wasn't supposed to show himself he really seems to not care about jedi running away.... like you had 3 fucking opportunities to kill the sisters. In short the episode was dogshit and fight corograhy didnt make sense and sloppy. However it had its moments with master sol and the padawan fighting ig... still I would rate this a 1.5/10 Breaks Canon. Thanks alot Disney

The choreography was complete trash! If you think this is good I'm sorry but we are not watching the same show! In the prequel fights like Anakin vs Obi-Wan they are actually TRYING TO HIT EACH OTHER. This guy was fighting 5v1 and no one even tries to back stab him or anything, just straight up twirling their lightsaber doing NOTHING. Can't wait for this episode to get broken down, especially the fight scenes so people can see how stupid this was.

@@Taczy2023 The choreography is the best we've probably gotten in a disney plus show though. There's no floatiness bs they've been doing in the previous episodes..... but they did have the nonsensical pauses after showing him being brutal. Which is clearly a dumb writing/directing decision.

The best saber fights since the prequels isn't hard to reach based on what we've gotten before lol. Although I do appreciate the increased use of the Force, it causes issues of "Why didn't they do ______ when it would've solved the problem?"

The fight scenes seemed pretty cool on first watch. Need to see them again to make a good judgement. I HATED the helmet and gauntlet cortosis thing though. I love that pretty much every character was killed off. Kind of wasted their potential arcs though

I agree there are certain parts that are good, like the part where qimir keeps trying to kill Mei and sol and jeki is stopping him, but overall I still think it sucks, the bad parts overshadow the good ones

The "splinter order" thing is complete fucking cope. Here are what the reports probably said: "A force user wearing all black with a red lightsaber is going around killing jedi" Yeah, that's a sith. The splinter order line was written specifically to try writing their way out of a clear fuck-up because they wanted to have ki-adi-mundi in the episode. It's insane to me that you people literally saw them put ki-adi-mundi in this episode WHEN HE SHOULDN'T EVEN BE ALIVE RIGHT NOW and are still going "guys, guys, Disney is actually playing 4D chess right now. They know what they're doing"

Even if Sol doesn't make it back, the Jedi will still discover that many in their ranks have been killed, and by lightsaber at that. They should logically think or expect it to be the Sith. Darth Maul never told the Jedi he was a Sith but thats what the Jedi concluded so with that logic they should do the same here. And we know from set images that that lady Jedi will come to this planet to investigate

@@culchiefilms1791 only qui gon said it was a sith straight off the bat. The jedi needed qui gonnto die and obi wan to confirm it to finally admit to it. Even then they were sceptical. They are aware of rogue jedi and splinter orders who can still kill other jedi. To them the sith are extinct for thousands of years. Imagine you saw an animal that you never saw before then find out it's supposed to be extinct. Nobody would believe you. Logic doesn't come into something when it shouldn't exist anymore.

Nah dude kids these days generally don’t like the sequels at all. If they’re nerdy and are into this stuff they’re on the parts of the internet that we are. They know (and agree) that the sequels suck. They know Disney ruined starwars and marvel. A lot of younger people just generally think starwars and marvel are lame nowadays. @@7harrylime that's the thing, there isn't anything wrong with the quality of the show. It may not be the best piece of star wars cinema, but it's also definitely not the worst. The show is just GOOD, not everything can be absolutely amazing. You'd have to admit, it's way better than book of boba and Kenobi, maybe even Mando s3. I have absolute faith that based on the account of people that worked on the show (the Lucas film story team and Filoni included), that they're not going to leave us with a huge lore breaking plot hole. Let the show be seen in it's entirely before you rip it to shreds, it's only fair. That's like watching the first 2 minutes of Attack of the Clones and turning it off saying "welp, they just assassinated Padme! How can Luke and Leia be born now? That's breaking canon!"

Smilo also didnt bother to hide wookie jedi body being dead with light saber cut before, and even if he did there would still be dna evidence and w/e else a superior technological galactic empire could analyze, if you accuse someone of being ego driving hater at least make an argument that makes any sense.
