The reason why canon exists is to understand the overall story, make it consistant and reasonable. The Acolyte proves what happens when you throw that out and make stuff out of your arse just because it looks "cool"

As silly as it is that Mae cut her hair with a saber, would it not have been 10X more interesting to NOT show the audience that Mae did that?! Would it not have been better to instead make the audience have to think about whether this person with Sol is truly Osha while giving very subtle hints to pull the viewers in? This story would’ve been instantly elevated with this small change of moving the saber hair cut scene to whenever in the story they want “Osha” revealed as Mae. These bloody show runners avoid anything intriguing happening in the story at all costs. A competent writer would immediately recognize that this detail should be hidden from the audience until a later reveal but that actually sounds interesting & we can’t have that, now can we?! It’s like these writers are ALLERGIC to good storytelling! When they should do something OBVIOUS (for instance, showing the Wookie Jedi being a badass), they just don’t.

I keep picturing Disparu as the "sith lord" during this whole fight. The entire time he's ripping the entire thing to shreds as he's fighting. "Oh look, you clearly missed me, now I've cut your head off". Especially what he says about the bit with May, about how even the audience knew. Perfect 4th wall break.

So the whole hitting the lightsaber with armor and the blade shorting out can be atrributed to cortosis. I'm probably not writing the name right but in any case. The material itself was a well known material used in legends, the magnaguards for example had their staves laced with it so it could parry lightsabers. In a pure enough quantity the material could cause a brief interruption or shortage in the lightsaber blade. That being said, cortosis was an extremely rare material, most people wouldn't be able to make a full armor of it, but this is disney we're talking about who somehow managed to make a thousand planet killing destroyers from nothing. Also another problem with cortosis was the fact that the purer the object the more brittle it became, so in the case of armor, they'd more often then not laced whatever armor with the material so that it could block but not short out the blades. In any case, yes its in the original lore, but no I don't think any of the buffoons at disney actually looked it up and might have somehow just come up with the idea of this effect just for the show, but doubtful since these people have almost no creative imagination except in believing they can write something worth a damn.

The problem with action scenes is I can’t be invested in the struggle when there are no characters to give a toss about. There is zero characterization these people are just walking plot devices. We have already established that there is heavy amounts of plot armor and contrivance with no consequences or stakes involved. Why do I care who wins or loses?

Does anyone else remember when Ray Park HELPED TRAIN Ewan McGregor and Liam Neeson for Phantom Menace's fight scene? Or how Ewan again and Hayden Christianson went through HOURS of intense training and choreography to the point where almost the ENTIRETY of the Anakin/Obi-Wan Duel in Revenge of the Sith was jus those two up until they couldn't cuz it was an extreme long-range shot of the tower they were on heading towards the lavafall? Or what about the intense sword training the cast had to go through for Pirates of the Carribean, to the point where when Orlando Bloom went on to Lord of the Rings, he turned down having a body double for the fight scenes as he already had the training from Pirates of the Carribean? Does anyone else remember when in TV shows, people who were expected to fight KNEW HOW TO PISSING FIGHT? We have wrestling, where many of the Superstars have MMA backgrounds, like Malakai Black and Kyle O'Reilly! We have Super Sentai/Power Rangers or Tokasatsu in general which exposed entire generations to Martial Arts! We have Animé which has brought fantastical worlds of Martial Arts to entire generations, such as Dragonball and Naruto! It's almost as though they have no access to people who are even remotely familiar with these things, or are intentionally ignoring such people, almost as though hiring anyone like that does not fall in line with "the message"! And they've also clearly forgotten that Ki Adi Mundi was an exception to the whole marriage thing due to the low birth rate on his homeworld! Or at least they would have done, had they had a fecking fan anywhere on this whole catastrofuck, they could have pointed that out to them, they've already crowbarred him into an era BEFORE HE WAS EVEN BORN!! That'd be like spotting me in the line at the cinema for Return of the Jedi in 1983, rather than 1998, when I was nearly 14, rather than several months before I was even conceived! Would have been better if the baddie had two lightsabers the whole time. It would have made it slightly more believable that he was able to handle multiple opponents, like Maul. Still, should have kept it as Sol, Jecky, and Yord--a three-on-one with a Master, a fairly new knight, and a Padawan, is a little easier to swallow (and we also don't care about all those other folks we know nothing about). I don't know why I try, though; they clearly just don't care.

14:50 i don't like the fencing style thrusts as cannon sabre fighting styles seem to indicate that a lightsaber has gyroscopic momentum making sweeping slashes and cuts efficient while thrusts would require you to fight the momentum first, it also makes small flurries efficient ways to redirect cuts without losing the momentum, if the momentum forces was similar to or less than a real sword then the most common lightsaber would be a single handed extended blade length saber and fencing techniques would be the default, but instead we have a mixture if different saber sword styles being shown with most common lightsaber that resembles a arming or warsword in proportions. Disneys DEI hires don't have the knowledge, passion, interest or imagination to watch Star wars never mind write it.

You see actually, Leslie Hadland considers the Sith to be the main characters so the Jedi have all been infected with that disease that takes over the bad guys in a fight when they go up against any martial artist character, where they come at him one at a time.

I don't have an issue with the cortosis armour, I have an issue with its lack of what that metal is unless you're steeped in lore. Sure it's a rare metal, but you have Jedi "masters" in that combat, one of them surely has heard of the metal and its effects. Just a simple cry of "cortosis" from someone in the melee would have made a difference in the audience understanding what it is, as it would have referred them to the Legends continuity's explanation. That would have sent them back to look at the old lore though, so it's understandable why they didn't do that.

Corridor crew would take issue at 5:07. Even though the lightsaber has obviously large amounts of motion blur, there is no diminished intensity of the light. It's just a solid fan that's just as bright.

You know what, I kind of want to see the show end with Osha waking up after being transported to Coruscant aboard the prison ship, and everything has just been a hallucination induced by that facehugger thing; but it was also some kind of distorted force vision of the future, and Qimir turns out to actually be a padawan or knight or something. But it only works if all these chatacters are suddenly acted AMAZINGLY well after they remove the facehugger. I don't know, just an interesting thought, it doesn't really work.

It is odd that the one thing they chose to pull from the more obscure canon was a metal that shuts down lightsabers.

Hollywood fight scenes are usually so disconnected from how actual combat goes, and this episode was no exception...

Neck breaking in movies/tv always bugged me. You have to wrench the head up using their bodyweight to strain the spine, twist to the side, and roll the head simultaniosly. Takes quite a bit of force. Quickly twisting will usually just end up causing a sprain.

Have you ever heard the Tragedy of Darth Ezra, the Mad Goose Sith? He was so powerful in the dark side of the force, he could reach into alternate universes and pull non-canon materials across dimensions.

in the clone wars cartoon there is a creature who's scales were resistant to lightsabers , but it never deactivated them, instead just deflecting. with that being said however I find it more likely that they just thought it would "look cool" and didn't give much thought to how much damage it would do in the story and how many questions it would raise like where was this amour during the prequals, i am certain it would be incredibly fucking useful to have.
