A quick look at this kit of parts, from Eccentric Engineering in Australia. After purchasing just the plans - it was decided to buy the kit, which contains laser cut parts, many ready spotted for drilling and, tool-holder blanks for boring to required diameter. Quite a small unit but capable of some useful sharpening operations on smaller cutters etc.
A short demo video showing it in use can be seen here - www.oldmansshop...

Many thanks for giving us the "heads up" on this one, those of us that live in remote places and cant get to a tool store can use one of these, I will be following this one with interest. I will also look into getting one of these kits, Eccentric Engineering should be paying you a commission ! Chris B.

Englishman French Not sure about commission Chris - I applaud Gary's efforts in developing this and feel it is useful for folks to know about it... for small shops anyways. Do watch the demo video www.oldmansshop.com/misc-vid-pages/acute-tool-sharpen.php

cerberus Sorry late reply - my comments notification seems to have dried up! Thx Harold - hope to make a start soon but it'll be a lengthy process overall I think. Bit by bit!

Hi Chris, thanks for making this video. I didn't know anything about this designer but I just finished a 3 part video on making a similar basic work table of this type, doesn't contain any of the attachments. I love the look of all the attachments and I may study your video link to the demo to see if I can copy some of these, maybe as you say when it gets a little cooler. Donald

multicraftman Hi Donald - Sorry late reply - my comments notification seems to have dried up! One of the key aspects I think is the parallelogram approach, and also registration of tool holding seems pretty good. The demo video Gary made helps explain quite a bit - www.oldmansshop.com/misc-vid-pages/acute-tool-sharpen.php

+Dwain Loftin Hi Dwain, It's from Australia. You can go to eccentricengineering.com.au - assuming this reply holds that link. If not just do a search for Eccentric Engineering I am two parts thru the build and hope to continue on it further before too long.

Pretty darn cool Chris! Is there an attachment in the works to do end mill's diameter's? Still very cool even if not.... Much more life for tooling! Thanks..... :o) O,,,

Opinionator52 Hi - right now the max dia for end mills is 16mm - so realistically with inch stuff, 7/16 will be a max. That said i have some ideas for dealing with larger later if possible. It's often the small ones that need a refresh more often. We'll see how it all pans out. :)

I was referring to sharpening the sides of the flutes like for side milling,,, not the size of the shank! I should have said sharpen......... :o) O,,,

Bonjour, 1. Drawings and DVD - $40 ($44) 2. Parts kits - $250 ($275) 3. Finished units - $450 ($495) This is he not excessive? Do you think it is worth price? Regards de France

hdoug5 I forget exactly, tho it can be checked on line -- I think on the whole thing I saved about 25% compared with the Oz pricing. The DVD is still in the works I believe.
