thanks, it was kind of silly to "just use misty step with everyone" as if everyone will have that, for all characters and can use it any time. and only a low IQ brainlet thinks everyone will and try to make excuses for it. Examples include "jUsT uSe AcCeSoRiEs! Huuur durr!" there are too many good items to choose from to have everyone set up to use this one thing on all characters.
I'm gonna try this today. I think this boss fight is partly luck too. I hit the boss with the hammer 3 times and only 2 of those did damage. I've had given up trying lol
@@shadowsage2636 . . .did you not give all 4 party members misty step? There are like 3 different pendants and rings that give it that you should have by then.
Here are some things that made this fight easier for me: 1. Place your entire group on the other side of the forge directly across from where Grym emerges. Have one of your companions perch on the mould chamber so that they can shoot the lava valve. 2. Allow Grym to come towards you. When he’s near the hammer, have a companion activate the hammer by shooting it. I recommend having Karlach or Lae’zel do this because they can attack twice. 3. If the lava goes down, have your companion shoot the lava valve again. They might get hit at this point since Grym should be standing next to the hammer. 4. Use misty step to teleport yourself to the other side of the forge if Grym is too far from the hammer. Try to aggro him so that he starts to come towards you again. Rinse and repeat. 5. If the magma mephits start spawning in, deal with them quickly. Ignore Grym and unleash ranged attacks on the mephits and push them away when they get too close. These will give you hell if you try to fight Grym at the same time. Good luck!
Tip: You can interact with the valve and levers by shooting them with your arrows. I was able to clear this encounter without using my Misty Step scrolls.
THIS STILL WORKS. You need to position the boss so that he is standing in the lava very close to the hammer. If he's on the platform he wont be recharged by the lava that comes out of the furnace. You can tell he's recharged by the red glow coming off him after you spill more lava. took me like 10 tries because i had a feeling this was the case. I think its just luck as to where he runs.
So this fight is actually way simpler than a lot of you are thinking. One of the issues is the lava not going away or coming out as soon as you hit the lever, its not that its bugged, you need to wait a little for it. In literally one turn i had my fighter shoot the valve and then the lever, two times each and almost killed it in 1 turn. bow hits will pull the lever/valve so forget misty step, just make sure you wait a few seconds after hitting each one and the boss should get the proper effect.
You don't need to make any combinations with platforms and switches to get to the Adamantine Forge. It is enough to jump into it with one character from the place next to the disfigured statue of Shar, discover the teleportation point with this character and the rest of the companions simply teleport there.
I just used the scaffolding and walked around and came in from the other side. Haven't fought the Grym guy yet, though. I came to see how to operate the forge. 😆
Mine didn't teleport. I had to control one of them then use fast travel as the others followed but yea that waypoint is handy, I figured I'd just come back to my squad but as soon as I got to the other side I seen the waypoint.
Idk how I wasn't subscribed to you after all that help you gave me in TotK. You're videos are perfectly edited, no BS straight to the point and I appreciate it so much. Grats on 200k, you LEGEND!
From the position above the ladder that the Duergar shoots from, you can Misty Step to the metal contraptions/bridges, protruding from in there and walk. That only uses a single spell slot or scroll. There is also mere Mithral Ore on the other side of the exploding lava with the elemental in it. Pop a Res vs fire and go get it. There is also an interesting quest over there.
I gave each companion a bludgeoning weapon and took him down in like two rotations. With elk form on karlach you can use a bash attack to knock down enemies, and every other character just goes to town.
1 key thing he didnt post here was you need to attack the boss with the character your using to bait him to the hammer as the prime focus or he will go after the others
For anyone trying this approach unsuccessfully: I followed the steps until the first time Grym gets stomped - stomp #1 - (because after that, following the steps in the video didn't work for me and I tried it ~20 times; either a bug or they patched it). After that I left a tank where the 3 characters are positioned (bottom), moved another one near the top, by the valve (so had 2 characters there) and another one by the lever. Then I fired a bow shot from the tank char. at the bottom. Grym came after him, then I fired another shot from one of the two characters at the top and also turned the valve (you must do so almost every turn so that Grym gets overheated as he walks, thus making him vulnerable to the forge stomp). Grym goes towards the top again. Once he gets there pull the lever again with the char. by it - stomp #2. After that fire another shot from the character at the bottom. Grym goes after them again - this time they may take some damage. Once Grym hurts him, fire another shot at Grym with one of the characters at the top (and turn the valve again). Grym goes back at the top. Once he's in the middle, pull the lever one more time. Here's a screenshot of the positioning of characters to make more sense: i.imgur.com/lvv6JEe.png If this works as intended, after the first stop Grym just walks from the middle to the bottom back and forth, until he's finally dead. I didn't even mention the Magma Mephits as I cleared them out quite fast - thunderwave gets rid of 2-3 in one go and then just kill the rest.
i got it done using this method, thanks man, might've taken a bit of luck but it worked. used my ranger as the tank, karlach at the lever, wyll at the left and gale at the valve. also had my bear goading the flying bastards
who tried to forge more items but doesn't understand how to make lava dissappear, switch on turn-based mode, then skip 2 turns, then lava will disappear
Platform won't even lower on my game, correct mould, mithril, pull lever, hammer comes down, platform does NOT move. Apparently I am THE ONLY person experiencing this since I've searched online. Best answer I get is "load another save file".
This no longer works. Boss will stay immune after the first hit even though you get the lava going again in the same turn. Now it has to take another turn and actually move inside of the lava to become vulnerable again.
It still works. I just did it in the updated version. I think it’s just a matter of constantly using the hammer and making sure to keep bringing the lava back. Then use “T” to inspect the boss and see if his Nullifications are down. Only problem I’m having now is the bosses body is blocking the forge and I have no way to move him. Edit: Found the solution to my problem. I was supposed to just turn on the lava to bond the materials. His body isn’t blocking it like I thought.
Ikr I lost my entire party trying to damage this thing lured it to get slammed by the thingy only to get imps... I reloaded to avoid this quest now its just not worth it
how tf do i KILL IT? its literally immune to EVERYTHING. i smashed it li ke 8 times with the hammer, did the lava, tried every single attack i can think of and its just perma at 41hp. im pissed.
I didn't know we must move inventory aside and drag the items. I assume, when I click on the item it will be added. When it didn't happen, I was confused, so went searching for the answer and found it here :).
Damn so much faster than what I did. I sent down one companion with misty step, kept looping him around whilst the other three companions(safety left on the steps above) took ranged shots against him.
I tried opening the valve for the lava but it only says "Won't budge." I put the mithral ore and mould in before pulling the forge lever and having the platform lower so im not sure what I did wrong
@@MickR0sco I ended up reloading that save, I think i reopened the mold when i got this bug so the next go around i didnt touch anything except the lava valve when the platform lowered and that did the trick
only works if grym is not standing on the platform. took me 10 tries... so i just misty stepped into the lava near the mold and sacrificed a bit of damage so he could be supercharged again and it worked
my fighter (lvl 5) has two attacks. With speed potion she has 4 attacks. The weapon she uses has lightning damage as well as bludgeoning. plus "action surge" gives her another turn. After her first turn he had only 40 hp left. mage cast grease which made him "prone" for 2 turns. finished him off he stayed 'superheated" the whole time.
Beat Grym on my first try thanks to y'all, the arrows makes it so much easier, use arrows on the things that spawn too, I ended up having to fight it at 23 remaining HP cause it got up & rushed me, used my created character to hit em with arrows, Shadowheart used Sacred Flame, Lae'zel used Magic Missile, then I just hit em with Karlach twice to finish him off. Was level 5, fight Gith patrol at level 4 with Lump in the blighted village in one of the houses, convice him, tell him he can eat the bodies, take out everybody while whoever fights Bertha stays on her. Fight the hag, magic missile & silence are a must. Find her & unleash all attacks on her.
also a another useful tip is to attack the robot and then put the teammate who attacked them under the hammer and when he attacks them heal them so they dont die and then activate the hammer, after that heal/res them and rinse and repeat.
I have decided to wimp out on this but it was helpful in more ways than one… helped me decide I wasn’t about to have a boss fight in lava with only one companion having Misty Step… 😭
Oh wow I kept smashing but didn’t realize he had to be charged with the lava for it to work each time thanks for this been stuck for a minute here thinking I could just only do it once and was supposed to attack him while he was down since it raises your chance to hit him drastically
Why does work for everybody else but me, i followed the steps an every single time, the grym either goes onto the platform to hit me or stays just right at the edge, out of the forge hammer reach, i moved my characters, moved my main character all over the platform for the forge hammer and on the mold one too and still, an i saved right before this battle and my last save is right before u meet nero or whatever that guys name, i tried everything an its just so frustrating
Only after getting the steam achievement for brute forcing the fight without the forge did I realise I could have saved an hour and a half of attempts 😅
@@Elyse1606he lines up. You have to put your tank standing on the mold plate but really off center so he gets knocked back into the lava. If he walks onto the forge hammer it’s GG because he doesn’t touch the lava and now has equal movement to any platform without getting smashed.
@@anvilpinata8610it’s harder than it looks; your positioning must be perfect. If he stands on the hammer when downed the first time he never touches the lava again.
I was thinking of fighting those animated armors to the right of the door, and then remembered I took a few sussur flowers for shits and giggles and decided to try making that fight a little easy by dropping them next to the armors But then, somehow, I couldn’t find them after I threw them in my Dragonborn’s inventory
Somebody needs to show an updated version of what the armor and weapons actually do. As of the state of full release, the Adamantine weapons do not inflict Reeling anymore, like they did in EA.
My plan: > Mage stands near lever and rest of followers stay on pad nearest the mold, aligned as best as possible with the anvil. > Pull lever - the drop hammer strikes the pedestal, and platform descends. > Summon lesser fire elemental to stand on the anvil. > Activate turn based mode. Mage swills haste or vigilance, and both tanks swill fire resistance. > Mage opens lava valve with mage hand or a crossbow bolt, triggering lava and the boss appearance. > Tanks pull aggro by plinking boss with arrows. > Boss advances and draws opportunity strike from fire elemental, and pulling higher aggro than the arrows earlier. Back the elemental up to edge of the anvil platform furthest from the boss, so that the boss will have to step on to attack the elemental. The elemental will get clobbered by briefly moving away from boss but as long as its not immediately dead all is well. > Mage casts ray of enfeeblement to nerf boss's damage. > Shadowheart casts SLOW on boss, to halve its movement. > The instant the boss puts one foot on the anvil, the next companion to go shoots the lever to activate the hammer, which will wipe away half the boss's HP. > mephits appear ... if you respec'd shadowheart to tempest cleric she can smoke most of them with call lightning. > ASAP, activate lever again to finish off boss. Edit: with some minor timing fumbles, it worked. Tip: split your party into 4, to prevent automatic follows.
After the fight, and you make the second adamantine item....how do you get the lava to go away? Pulling the forge lever doesn't do it, turning the lava valve just adds more lava, and pressing the platform control button just goes CLUNK.
Having "Everyone needs Misty Step" as a requirment is 1. Absurd 2. Not needed lol. You can keep some one on the platform to pull or just shoot the lever
My game may be glitched on current patch. I insert the materials and pull the lever, but nothing happens after that. Sucks I can't make it to the forge or try again for the trophy A Grym Fate Kill the Adamantine Golem without using the Forge Hammer.
I just figured out if you use mage hand to turn the valve and dismiss the hand instantly the boss wont spawn in but you will get your item out of the forge (btw make sure the party is on the other side of the forge)
works but not really. at least for me Idk if they patched it but Second time u drop the hammer it wont do any damage cause he don't get superheated!!! Have to let him get up walk in lava then lure him bk in middle to smash again. Only was able to smash him two times then frantic shooting every ice spell i could at him before he killed my whole squad. took a minute!! Used shadowhearts duplicity spell to get him bk in middle for second smash!!!
🤣🤣 instead of actually finding the forge i somehow ended up in the upper parts going across a rampart with all kinds of fire traps and gargoyles all for a guilded chest....now im just getting roasted trying to get back across.
I did this by just tanking the boss the old fashioned way lol. If you have haste you can cast on laezel it's great. You need the the flail from guy you kill for the boat in the underdark and you can hit the boss like 6 times and heal to full every turn. It's 1 handed also so you can equip a shield too.
there also be a skelly corpse on a bridge with a jumping potion. few ways to get in there...someone probably already said this but I don't wanna read 30 comments right now lol - mostly wanted to see what others crafted with the forge XD didn't see it tho :(
I had just got to act2 and I wish I had both made armour sets instead of the split and the shield… now I am reloading save and losing progress. I will only lose 1 hour. The shield WAS for shadow heart but I found a much better one in Act 2 and regret my decision
Yet another overtuned, jankt battle. Yeah this didn't work, it took half damage from the first strike and never became vulnerable again, knocked it down, splashed lava on it, strike-no damage, strike-no damage, strike- no damage- it gets up party dead.
@@hedoesdeath7667 I got the videos method to work. I just had to stand in the perfect spot and tank him with my character and Shadowhearts' spiritual wepaon. Took me about 7 or 8 tries. I had the rest of my team stand across from the lava valve and shoot it with arrows and eldritch blast. While tanking the boss I shot the hammer switch.
its not working for me the lava either stay and he dont get a debuff again or he is on the anvil and gets no debuff when I turn on the lavaflow again edit just killed him with my monk after the first blow. It seems armor does not reduce punches damage KEKW

@@The_Daily_Tomato lol you also could have used feather fall so you don't take fall damage. Wizards are amazing for solving problems in the environment, even ones that shouldn't be there like this bug of yours. the ability to use any utility spell you might need without having to respec is a game changer.
@@Nirax3 I didn't have any of those scrolls on me at the time or anything like that. I didn't mind it too much. Was just glad I could get down without too much damage 😁
