That's a small minority and not ingrained in the culture. Latin America like the US was built on slavery and anti blackness is deeply rooted in Latin American culture. The Spanish created a caste system with people of African descent at the bottom, there was a blanqueamiento movement on Latin America to whiten the populations in most countries. Is there some xenophobia in African American communities yea there is but it's not as deeply rooted and widespread as the racism in Latin communities. It's not even close racism is one of the building blocks of the Latin community remember just like the US, Latin America and the Caribbean are also built on the enslavement of Africans and the displacement murder and colonialization of the indigenous. All countries in the western hemisphere is based on racism.

There are still people who are racially majority black or majority white or majority indigenous . I understand no body is “racially pure” but to say that all Latinos are just mixed is also be problematic. When you watch novelas or just Hispanic media in general all you see is white passing Latinos. If everyone is mixed why is there still discrimination?

At the height of the popularity of the hairstyle, other people with different ethnicities and naturally curly hair joined in. The home permanent allowed people with otherwise very straight hair to join in. Even Howard Stern, who has a curly head of hair, joked that he had a Jew-fro. This is in line with the way Stern would make fun of his own appearance.
