What happened after the surrender at Stalingrad? Let's look at the aftermath of the battle, and the statistics for casualties, aircraft losses, and the reasons things ended up the way they did. ABOUT TIK 📝
History isn’t as boring as some people think, and my goal is to get people talking about it. I also want to dispel the myths and distortions that ruin our perception of the past by asking a simple question - “But is this really the case?”. I have a 2:1 Degree in History and a passion for early 20th Century conflicts (mainly WW2). I’m therefore approaching this like I would an academic essay. Lots of sources, quotes, references and so on. Only the truth will do.

Masterful coverage of a terrible battle. Your Stalingrad documentary has already became, and will remain the reference for years and years on, just like David Glantz's books. So many war veterans from everywhere in the world are praising it: that's the best reward you can think of.

After the 20-odd years I have been reading books and watching documentaries about the Second World War, I can confidently state that your Battlestorm Stalingrad series ranks amongst the best I have ever seen. Over the span of many years, you have brought to life a singular battle that the major production companies tend to devote a single hour to at the very most. You have presented information that I have never even heard of before, and torn down the myths that the Red Army and the Wehrmacht, and the world in general, have propagated over the decades. This documentary series, your documentary series, stands almost alone for the scale and completeness that I have only ever seen a few times in my life. It is my earnest opinion that Battlestorm Stalingrad has set the gold standard for in-depth documentaries, and that the bar it has set is a deserved high one. I eagerly await your series on Gazala, and I know it will be of the utmost excellence that you continually strive for. Thank you TIK for all of your hard work, and thanks again to those who helped you make this landmark series possible.

Yeah, I also caught TIK on my radar around the middle of this. Still haven't managed to watch his humongous Hitler's Socialism video (pretty much the only one on the channel I haven't seen in full), but flicked around like episodes 20-30 of this series, then went back to current ones, then watched the start, now I've finally watched them all completely out of order. Regarding the supply failures, I believe the most comprehensive sources on this available are Mierzejewski's books, and I know you have read them because you cited them before. When I knew him, he taught in the same building as Citino. It is unfortunate that the most important aspect of war, logistics, is neglected. I believe you have reached the present extent of academic sources regarding logistics on the eastern front and have made the best possible conclusions and arguments.

Initially I was skeptical that you'd have the determination to slog through all the damn details for this battle, going through that clusterfuck of notes, diaries, accounts, retellings took as much dedication as fighting the battle itself. The Germans dug their own graves. By waiting until they were starved to death before surrender, they ensured most of them would not survive. Had they surrendered sooner in better health, their survival rates could have been much higher. But they knowingly fought a hopeless battle for months, waiting until it was too little too late to surrender before finally giving up. That said, GJ finally finishing this series. Congratulations TIK! Your BATTLESTORM STALINGRAD series is a masterpiece of hard work dedication and research. This series disavowed me of many foolish myths and tales, especially that of the 6th army sweeping into Stalingrad in a dramatic mechanized infantry thrust, when in fact the Soviets fought tooth and nail retreating towards the Volga already taking a toll of the Germans. You exposed the weakness in logistics and coordination in the vaunted Wehrmacht command structure, and explained how Manstein failed in his attempt to free the 6th army. Now in the finale you breakdown why and how German POW death rates were so high after the battle, now I know how Typhus really did take a toll along with lack of food as the Soviets could barely feed themselves. I will continue to recommend this series to others in all social media platforms who really want to know what happened at Stalingrad. Thanks again TIK for the very hard work you and your staff had put into making this series an epic one. Colossal and immense are too small of descriptions for BATTLESTORM STALINGRAD!

What an outstanding series. Really well done. In 1979 I spoke with 2 German Veterans who were involved with the Stalingrad Airlift. One was a mechanic for HE-111's and the other was an armorer for for a fighter wing. Both stated that there was a shortage of ammunition and fuel during the entire campaign. If you look at the historical records for the French Government you can see the only reason Hitler could invade Russia in 1941 was from the fuel that was captured in France. Fuel was always a problem for Case Blue even before the start of the campaign. Look forward to watching the entire series again somewhere down the road.

The end to the worst battle in human history has ended, you did an amazing job TIK and should be proud this series is a masterpiece, this documentary is for sure one for the books and worthy of an award of its own for quality and effort, congrats. Maybe some day more people will be inspired to create documentaries as detailed as this because of it. The fact that German officers had rations while there men starved is truly something that makes your heart go out to those who survived that dreaded death trap, it was news to hear as well that the people rioted in Germany after the news which ive never heard before but makes perfect sense, a ton of their friends and family had just been left to the communists. I also read a lot from Italian war vets and have heard that supplies at the times when they did arrive for the Italians where not handed out to them and that the Italians at times had to physically mug the Germans to get them, truly shows how worthless of allies the Germans where in WWII.

My Father's uncle Victor survived being a POW of the Soviets - I wonder if his being an Austrian draftee had anything to do with that. I actually met him when he came to America when I was young. I have no idea what unit he was in, I did not know enough at the time to even ask those questions.

I read that the Austrians claimed that they weren't Germans in order to try and get better treatment from the Soviets.
@aleksazunjic9672
@aleksazunjic9672 9 месяцев назад
@@TheImperatorKnight Soviets knew about this trick, but actually encouraged it. Reason being making Austria neutral during Cold War, and serving as a buffer state. Thus, official narrative of Austria being "first victim of German fascist aggression", and similar rubbish 😁

A towering achievement by a towering intellect. TIK built this series a brick at a time, weathering sickness, deaths of loved ones and burnout. I hope we remember him as we remember Cicero or Plato.

It's horrifying to think of a 95 percent death rate of prisoners of War, and truly tragic, but the Germans treated Russian prisoners with terrible disregard after Barbarossa began. Many of them, too, would die from neglect.

no bad treat was there against germans, they get freez and died with sickness, my granfather fought there and said that they didnot disturb prisoners, but nobody talks how german treated to soviet prisoners

Wow! just finished the last episode. My wife is German and tells me that her grandfather was captured in Crimea so I started watching the battle storm to get a better understanding ( even though no one seems to remember what army he was in ). What I ended up watching was a well thought though and presented documentary that could have been on the BBC. Well done, and great effort!

"More civilians at Stalingrad died than there are seconds in this series." I've watched this series from the start but this was the first time in it I had to pause the video and take a moment. The last time I felt that way was watching your "Wheat or Coffins" Video on the Axis Occupation of Greece and the suffering involved.

Yes! We made it! Thanks for sticking through this with all the mental and physical pain this grind has caused you. This is THE definitive coverage of this battle and is probably the most detailed documentary ever made. I'm proud to have been your patron since 2018 and my patronage fee is the best money I have ever spent on educational content. Thank you for everything and keep up the good work! Absolutely all your content is superb and I'll always be here for every single video, battlestorm or not.

Thank You TIK for this historic serie. By the way, I found out, that the same Suzdal monastery was used as international camp for czechoslovak soldiers, who retreated from Poland after defeat. Later, majority was released and transfered to France, Middle East and Great Britain. Just 100 remained in USSR as nucleus for possible military unit there (many soldiers come from russian GULAG prison camp)
