its heartbreaking to see any player in that state.. No matter who you support, these players are just humans.. I remember Keria & Faker breaking down as well... now Lehends sobbing.. This shows how invested these players are in the game that we love. I hope GenG run it back again next year - just like T1 believed in its roster, GenG should !
You mistook the situations. Both Faker and Keria had been playing very well throughout the series, but they lost in the finale due to a mistake in 2017 and 2022. Lehends was different. He was playing badly, or at least not up to what they were expected, in the whole series.
@@pique3124chovy would of bully faker so hard without that trade and then faker just would lose a lot of cs having the gold disadvantage of a death at least

@@pique3124 How is it worth for Chovy when what Chovy anticipated was a 1.5 wave of lead thru that lane state but Faker somehow turned it into Chovy losing 1 wave without jungler's help?
You rlly can't think of many Pro player to make that decision and perfectly played it out. Not glazing on Faker but the play itself. It's like how Zeus escaped with the pocket vision and it's amazing to see these kind of plays in worlds.
You have to WIN at Worlds to create a positive narrative about yourself. The casters can't magically make these players win to "push their narrative" more. A large part of the LoL Esports fanbase doesn't watch/care about domestic titles or even MSI. Worlds is where you cement your legacy, and Faker has obviously had a huge presence in the tournament for the better part of a decade. The winner of the Zeus/Bin matchup this year will probably be touted by many as the GOAT in the toplane, that's just how sports narratives work, you have to win.
A world championship is not a guarantee for a positive narrative, although it’s more likely to push it. Look at Crown. First to defeat Faker at Worlds, 2 time back-to-back World Finalist. Yet his win was ridiculed because he played 3 games of Malzahar against Faker. Then a lot of sad fans turned their hate at him. Not long after he was going to NA and his career ended their in a not successful way.
People only cheer for t1 because they cheer for faker lol and because the team won a lot its boring, yes faker is good but his team is big part of why t1 wins lol but everyone goes hyped when faker does 1 thing thats normal
@@jenzu4229Yes thats correct his team does alot. But that doesnt diminish anything Faker does. And he has won worlds with different rosters. You really think its "just" the team? Why doesnt anyone else have his record? He singlehandedly holds the most awards and accomplishments of any player. While some of his plays may be exaggerated due to his fame, its well deserved hype after years of success.

As a T1 fan. Either T1 winning back to back championships or BLG the first LPL team to win against T1 in worlds are equally a legendary and historical moment in League. So, whoever wins gonna be insane and all fans around the world will just ate. MAD RESPECT to Lehends, him crying for the game shows so much love and compassion that they struggled, put in lots of effort, sacrificed lots of time and sleep and worked hard for it to in hope of winning. That's a winner's mentality right there. @@theultimaterage675 You're not wrong technically but until that BO1 against TES, T1 was 100% undefeated against the LPL at worlds, (Also it was a kind of unimportant BO1 lets face it). But nonetheless the statistic still remains that in a multigame series, T1 still holds 100% win rate against the LPL (meaning BO3/BO5) during worlds.
@@Whales1992 The hell you talking about. T1 has lost a Bo1 to LPL way before dating back to 2019 against IG. It's the knockout stage, where T1 is undefeated.
The reason League is so tied to Faker isn't just results, he's the one constant throughout almost the game's entire competitive existence. You can't name a single other player that A) has been around as long as Faker B) has had even the potential to be as competitive as Faker over the years ( fav to win, accolades etc ) Most other players either come into the scene like a comet and then disappear completely into obscurity, or they have a decent career with a few highlights here and there. Go back through the years into any era of league and you will always find Faker at or around the top, but everyone else is almost always different. Even if someone like Chovy finally wins Worlds, even twice or thrice, he will never be as constant as Faker has been. No one will ever replace Faker's position in the scene and this is why the doomposting about this narrative is so prevelant.
I mean no one is close I Agree, but depending on how long LoL goes on for we will see other players like faker. I'd argue it's harder to get that now sure, but its an inevitability
Also, for a long time no one thought Kasparov could be matched in chess and then Magnus Carlsen came. So let's keep our hopes high for a new star after Faker (long live the king, though).
Between this, and Keria Sobbing in 2022, sometimes we get a peek into how much these events mean to these players. The whole world is watching, and there must be so much expectation on their shoulders, it must be devastating to lose once you reach that point. Nothing but respect for these guys. Wish them the best
The thing about this "faker is the only one that gets the spotlight" is so untrue too lmao. People will say he hogs the trailers or whatever when his screentime is like 5s overall, just because YOU only focus on faker doesn't mean that riot isn't trying to showcase more good players and their history in leauge. Also people need to realize that faker and zofgk is literally a BRAND that t1 literally invests millions a year for. Do you see any other team doing 50 ads, being at 50 events, releasing so many non leauge contents etc.? I promise these players aren't doing it just for the money, they wanna reach more and more people because devoted fans = more money for the org. Their membership and merch makes them so much money.. hmm i wonder why? Like zofgk are just very likeable people who actually have a great relationship with eachother too, market them well (what t1 has been doing for years) and u have an instant success story/narrative. You want a faker type attention? Well, first of all be good at the game, perform when it matters, invest in your players beyond lol.
I really want the others to just invest in promoting their players. GenG are starting to do so with their locker room footage. But they need to be more consistent

Faker global taunt is not a joke man. Look at game 4, they all in faker and then lost baron. After that they did it again, focusing faker and then lost the game. IDK what to say but Zeus, Oner, Gumayusi and Keria are really holding the burden of the crown together.

I like GenG, oddly I really thought Crown deserved his win even tho he got so much hate. Huge T1 fan here, I got almost all faker tees and got the whole 10th anniversary collection too ... but Chovy really isn't that great. He's overglazed for sure. Great CS, but he doesn't play fights well at all. Feels like a Rekkles .. just casting skills and not autoing. This year he did much better but still just getting out played overall.

I think Chovy's narrative has been pushed a lot and the fact that he can't close it out is what backfires so much and earns him the choking narrative. The broadcast set him up with the spotlight for success and when he fails to complete it, it's unfortunate. At the same time, Faker coming in and denying stuff like the JDG golden road just makes for great storylines. The more acclaim you have, the more attention will be paid to you, when you foil others paths to glory.

Imagine the narratives. First LPL team to beat T1 at a Worlds BO5 and it's in the Finals or T1 wins back-to-back, winning 2 World championships in 3 years it's gonna be insane. If Faker doesn't get a docu-style Worlds anthem next year like they did with that other LCK player imma go insane.
Its called paying themselves first😂 if they were to hire more coaches, the existing coach and player salary will be affected, so they rather not hire and give excuses
I get your point but last year league EWC reward little to the teams. You must not confuse the whole prize pool as it divided between a lot of Games. LoL only got $1M spread among 8 teams in which 1st place T1 got $400k. After an expense, most teams lose money participated in EWC (lowest rank team only got $50k). Saudi actually want to give them more money but Riot refused and capped the maximum reward because they don't want EWC to eclipse Worlds. In the end, Riot want to make sure Worlds stay as the League most prestigious event
The next to Faker imo is Bengi. Guy has 3 world championship. Tell me one jungler with 3 world championships. There aren't any. He might not get much praises or people talking about him these days. But stats wise, he is second to Faker.
Nah.. who.said Bengi is not the jungle GOAT? He is and will always be unless Oner and Canyon catch up. If T1 wins this worlds, only the toplaner can see their new goat. Mid goat is already cemented, Keria can contest the support GOAT just given more time, ADC is debatable but jungle is still miles away.i will take any jungle who will replace Bengi if they get 3 worlds and an MSI title for 4 years
Bengi is actually great, he was considered as Faker’s Left Hand when he was in SKT back then(Left hand does all the Dirty Work) due to their Mid Jungle Dynamic
@@eyaangel618 I mean I think Canyon > Bengi pretty easily due to being arguably the best jungler over multiple years consistently. Imagine if chovy won worlds in 2022 and 2023, the narrative would be insane. 2024 could've been the year too. Everyone was already starting the narrative from golden road. To the draws saying the most free road to finals only having to beat FLY and T1. Next year right surely.
If you watch again Lehends really got caught too many times and his engages were like inting. In the last team fight against T1 they almost turned the tide by killing Faker 1st but lehends rushed to root Oner but got pulled in because Oner flashed then they got baited. Peyz also a big factor on why he got skarner ulted when he got flashed but I can't blame him because evwn if you watch it multiples times it is so hard to see the skarner ult with all that happening. But really lehenda got caught badly too many times in the series and as Peyz, what you gonna do as an adc if you have no support? Lehends really played bad and he knows it that's why he kinda cried. But that's just how a game goes.
Lehends was clearly underperforming. He was the biggest issue out of all of them. Chovy actually did well this series. Lehends is not the only person that trolled this series but he should be accounted for. He got caught too many times and compared to Keria he is not not helping the team as much. Support plays a huge role during the world's meta because they are the ones that dictate the entire teamfight. And clearly Lehends was stressed and nervous.
@michael08269 Chovy did not do well or at least did not do enough. He had no clutch factor and is afraid to take risks to set up for the team. He was passive. Kiin was their only shining light mostly in the last game he was all the reason Gen.G almost came back because of his impressive poppy ults. He even was the one who caught Faker but after just killing Faker, Lehends threw the game by hardforcing a root on Oner who just flashed out to his teammates and Lehenda died the Peyz had to come near Oner to kill him but got ulted. Chovy was a non factor and can't even kite well and has no damage so they really lost that one. T1 says you take Faker, we take everything!

Im going to say this knowing people are going to get defensive for Chovy, but there has to be something hes doing thats preventing a worlds win. Chovy is an insane player, but year after year he is touted as the best player in the world and a favorite to win worlds, and he always fails to even make finals. How can he lose only 3 Bo5s all year and win MSI without dropping a series just to lose 3-1 to T1 after a year and a half straight of beating them? 2022-2024 GenG has been one of the top 3 teams to win worlds, and they always fail to make finals, and Chovy is the only constant on that team. There has to be something more he can do because its hard to believe that its always his team's fault he isnt a world champion every year.
i agree chovy needs to step up a little bit in these games but we all watched that 2023 quater final with doran flashing over walls randomly peanut rell ulting oxygen molecules and all around his team griefing. In 2022 DRX were just on a mental momentum run i mean they won the entire tournament and the meta was perfect for zeka who was having the tournament of his life. In 2024 most the time before his cs leads could amount to anything lehends had already died 6 times and peyz was satcheling into enemy vi.
Chovy is known for farming. People in LCK make a joke that Chovy spawns his own CS to farm to show the insane difference in CS. Beyond that, he was not special. GenG's biggest challenge is that they rely on one person in the team. 2022, it was Ruler. 2023, it was Peanut and 2024 it was Canyon. Canyon literally carried the whole LCK 2024 for the team. So if this one person makes a mistake, the whole team suffers.

Lowkey detail about Zeus’s walkout is when hes walking through the corridor its more obvious what to do so he gives his hand out for high fives, but once he reaches the stage, he doesnt know what to do with his hands so he defaults to the more self-comforting self hug with his arms. Very clear he just wants to get to his pc and dominate lane xD
The story of League Esports is Faker and t1 because they are the strongest team. It does get repetitive though, cause it's the same story every year. But there is nothing Riot can do about it until some other player/team starts winning as much as T1.
The closest player to follow Faker is in his ZOFGK roster. People try to find other player from other team but you can't. ZOFGK dominates Worlds 3 years in a row. It's hard of course since a rival is needed but who? Chovy is not even close. Knight, Bin, Caps, none of them is even close. Canyon best jungler in the world but Oner proved everyone wrong. TheShy solo carrying but look Zeus, carrying a team of GOATs. Gumayusi often referred as the weakest among them but in fact he is the most consistent, and he enables Keria to be the playmaker he is now because of his chad play style. I mean look at that. Who else from other team you want to compare with Faker? 5 times MSI winner Xiaohu? Even some pro player don't remember him. It's not broadcasters' narrative. It's Faker who made himself untouchable.
Bin is actually in fact quite close to Zeus. If he win this worlds, he is slightly ahead of Zeus as he has an MSI title. If he doesnt, well Zeus clears him with the 2-0 worlds title.
how godlike of a player do you have to be to have your LOWEST point be top 4 in Worlds? It's not even glazing anymore because he can back it up. Honestly I feel like they only lost 2017 because it was such a boring meta and playmakers aren't picked because ADCs run the show.
SKT in general was struggling in 2017, like mentally. If you listened to what Bang and Wolf spoke about those years. You can tell that at least those 2 players lost their way/motivation for the game. Bang said that he no longer find happiness in winning, and winning has became more of a responsibility and Wolf was actively having panic attacks on stage. Honestly, not everyone can be Faker. You can also see that in many Worlds champs that eventually falls off due to a lack of motivation as they already achieved their "Goal" in the scene. Without that driving force, no one can commit that hard into the scene for money. Faker is kind of different as Winning Worlds is no longer his goal but just an outcome from his continuous improvement as a person and as a player.
He was on the right team in the right year, he wasn't the deciding factor in any team, 2020 dk was all top side with nuguri canyon showmaker, 2022 was zeka akali/sylas kingen aatrox and a bit of deft
@@Jack_Gibby it’s half truth though He wasnt the deciding factor when DK won in 2020 He was redefining the meta in 2022 but Zeka show up from out of the blue and carry DRX so hard that people forget about him
I actually think they did. Either way I hate to admit it, but I genuinely believe its cause people don't pay attention to supports as much. Like Guma played really well, and we got good moments. Yet I think Keria is MVP. Like who's hyped? TheShy, Ruler, Knight, Caps, Faker, etc. Its kinda the carries that everyone pays attention to. Similar to how in a lot of games DPS is the favorite roll. Could be wrong but thats how I see it.
the gap between faker and the 2º best player of all time is larger than the 2º and the 20º, of course the boradcast is gonna talk about him when is the fucking goat like that
Remember: Faker got his first Worlds during his first year, his 3rd on his 4th year (3/4). Zeus, Guma and Oner are about to get their 2nd in 3 years (2/3). T1 is building the next Faker. Not necessary to be in Mid but in all positions, setting the mindset in the game, game tactics, callout, etc. and Faker is silently their Mentor.
It really will be interesting to see what happens to each of these players when they inevitably split into other teams. Will they still perform at this level? How much of it is their insane chemistry, and how much of it is individual skill?
I think the next superstar after Faker is either Keria or maybe Bin/Guma. I don't think people are aware of how popular Keria is internationally, especially in Asia with a large female fanbase. He constantly goes viral in Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, etc and he's mechanically gifted in a role where it's hard to shine.
I think Zeus being totally zoned out really helps his performance. If anyone was paying attention to the player cams during the games, it's obvious that every time GEN failed/T1 succeeded, GEN were heavily affected. T1, on the other hand, were largely unfazed and kept their calm. The mental state was far superior on T1's side, and really tilted everything in their favour. On a different topic, casters talks about Faker because there's actually something to talk about. Who wants to talk about a loser? Even the loser doesn't want to be talked about. Anyone remember Ryu? Yeah, you already know. Casters building up a player is half the story, if the players don't back it up with performance, the casters can't really finish the story. The most famous play was paired with the most famous shout casting line. MonteCristo and DoA were absolutely hyping up Faker since debut, and how did Faker respond? Beat Ambition (then best mid laner) and won his debut game, won his debut split, won Worlds then followed by winning a perfect split (no games lost) so he literally finished the story. Struggled big time in 2014, so no one was talking about him. Came back in 2015, best SKT roster, win Worlds, win Worlds AGAIN, and plenty of other wins in between. When someone achieves the same or better results, or even anything remote similar, and the casters don't hype them up, then talk about caster bias towards Faker. Also, sticking with the same team helps big time, because the casters aren't going to call out the wrong team name by accident, which has happened plenty of times. No one's going to remember you if you jump between teams.
9:23 ever since faker's induction into the hall of legends, many people have wondered who could possibly follow him in as the second legend. Whose career even comes close? Now we know. The second inductee... should be FAKER AGAIN BAYBEEEEE
I'd say 2nd and 3rd inductee should be beryl(2 times worlds after he retires) or ambition(faker's forst kill who roleswapped from mid to jungle and beat him 4 years later) or bengi (faker's third summoner spell)
@@aqwevony3275If we go by accolades it should definitely be Bengi but I don't think they would do that especially because both of inductees would be from the same team. They can either do it by role or choose a player from LPL. If they do it by region I think UZI, or Theshy have the best shot.
@@alphagaming6712I kinda hope ruler gets there. He also has a really great story imo. Lost to faker in 2016 and he finally got to win during 2017 with his own ult arrow as varus. He goes into a slump in worlds as he got “overconfident” as he described in the semi finals teaser last year. the road to the golden road. if he wins next year, it would be a great ending imo. or deft would be a nice pick too.

0:55 comment by ryan about the budget issues: I personally think the players are not worth the money. Its a team game, "cheaper" players who allow for better team budget means better team.
People blames lehends and even lehends blames himself. But as a T1 fan I watched them lose to geng in almost every bo3 and bo5 during a regular season. What changed wasn't lehends, it was T1 playstyle. Geng always beat them by choking (no pun intended😅) and picking them all around the map usually. This time T1 were the hunters, in this series they were proactive instead of reactive, every time lehends got picked his teammates where nearby almost surprised by T1 aggression. Yeah he played bad, but T1 were really different 🙂
I can't imagine the pressure players must feel on stage, as I said before, I hope this GenG roster stays as is because one bad performance doesn't define them. They really played insanely well the whole year, it seems they just couldn't handle it mentally at the end (lehends being the most obvious case).
Faker said it "Prove it!" not just to Chovy, but in 2023 he said something with the same meaning to Scout . If anyone want to be the next generation they have to prove it, and all the others couldn't do it.
Anyone that says "Spotlight on Faker" are the equivalent of "Football" fans that only watch the Superbowl (or for everyone else Football fans that only watch the World Cup). Not to say they do not matter, but more so they are extremely ignorant. They don't pay attention to the narratives being told. How every game, especially games like Fly Quest vs Gen G. Casters hype up. All the interviews Ashley, the casters and more do. It is not really a fixable thing. More of the type of thing you either correct them on and if they argue just ignore them. Furthmore, Once Faker retires someone else will have to come into the lime light. As it looks like there are plenty of talented players ready to do so as well. Just like any other sport or sport entertainment. If League dies just because Faker retires, then either the fans are ill or League's time had passed... (or Riot sabotaged it).
Choky forced his team to 4v5 for the entire mid game while t1 was snowballing so that he can farm cs alone. Lehends got killed so many times because of choky.
5:33 because T1 haters always says T1 is washed so when they fvcking obliterate someone they also automatically thought washed! They fail to realize how strong T1 really is thats why their perspective on player skills that lose vs T1 automatically assumes washed...
watching Faker gets solo killed by almost any mid laner for almost the whole year, then seeing him with this confidence at Worlds? Form is temporary, you know the rest
Well he tried, he just the unenviable job of being a facecheking support. Also in game 4 all of Gen.G had Farsight wards and no sweepers. Pyke generated insane pressure by just not showing up on the map.
10:24 Exactly. As Winston Churchill once said: "History is written by the victors". I told alot of my less knowledgeable friends of how CRAZY Lehends and TheShy was throughout the entire year, but, in the face of the Demon King and The Four Heavenly Kings by his side, their glory just cant match up. What can I do, when the results speak for themselves?
yeah fr although I'm a T1 fan I feel really sorry for Lehends. He was insane this year especially at MSI. Also he is a really funny and warm hearted dude in person.
