IMPORTANT: 1) Gio, Adi and Chboo looked further into the code and have discovered the the chances for masked to start and stop sprinting increase depending on how many players are in your lobby. The more players, the higher the chances. 2) MASKED WILL TAKE UP TO 2 HITS WITH A SHOTGUN. If you're close enough, it will only take 1 shot. 3) Your items will be deleted if killed by a masked.
Hello Mr alter ego, I have a question. You mentioned in 4:53 "...will take you ... and up to 3 shots from a shotgun" Why does Masked need up to 3 shots from a shotgun to kill? If Masked's HP counted as employee's HP, and shotgun's damage to employee has three types: 20HP, 60HP and 100 HP, need up to 5 shots to kill. If Masked's HP counted as entity's HP, and shotgun's damag to entity has three types: 2HP, 3HP and 5HP, need up to 2 shots to kill. And I found that in actual combat, no matter how close I am to Masked, it seems impossible to kill him with a single shot. Why is this?
@@blossomingcat I MESSED UP. I meant to say up to 2 shots from a shotgun! If you're close enough, you can kill it with 1 shot. I just confirmed this in game.
The masked hiding spot is not completely random. It will randomly pick a hidden position on the ship and go to that location, unless there is no spot where it can be hidden, in which case it just picks a random position
0:44 bro used the forbidden toungue Edit: yea that’s definitely interaction baiting Edit 2: he confirmed on stream that his friend made fun of how he was talking and he talked like that for funny
@@revel8683 when someone comments on the video it boosts viewer interaction, which the algorithm thinks it means the people are invested and it will make the video appear more
The Masked are probably the creepiest enemy to me personally. The way they mimic player behaviors - their erratic movement, and the way they spin on cams and hide in the ship - is unsettling as hell.
If you rearrange the furniture on your ship, does that influence where the Masked hides? Also fun fact for anyone who doesn't know: The constant spinning in place is because that used to be a non-verbal sign to the terminal operator that you needed a teleport. It's meant to trick them into bringing the Masked onto the ship.
Yes. The masked will hide in places that are least visible from the entrance of the ship. If there are no hidden locations, it'll choose a random spot instead
@@WizardBrandon Nope. I had a friend teleport "me" one time and the masked got teleported perfectly fine on the ship. Best part was it walked away for a seconds so you couldn't see the mask and they didn't know until it started chasing them lol
My friend group still does use spinning sometimes to signal teleport, but fortunately our human players are a bit more sudden in their spin than the masked.
Yeah, I understand a lot of languages vaguely but I didn't get a language when as a response when I asked my brain what I heard. All I got was a one word response. "Merde!"
Some notes on masked: 1 they can still kill you if you're climbing ladders so be careful when you're going back and fourth on the titan ladder 2 Players turned into masked will remain with the suit they were originally wearing, they do not default back to orange unless you're wearing orange ofc
Having the AI spelled out makes some masked situations I've seen even scarier. A player went to the ship and was checking to see who else was alive (no one) when a Masked came on the ship behind them. The masked just stopped and stared while everyone in the death lobby was screaming. Eventually the last person did take off but knowing they were probably a second or two before they were gonna be charged makes that moment even more amazing.
Interesting fact about the Masked: it counts towards indoor power when spawned, but takes away from outdoor power when killed. So for example, if you're on Rend (indoor max power is 10, outdoor is 6), and you spawn 10 masked and kill them all, then nothing else will spawn indoors (because the 10 max power is used up). BUT, the outdoor power will now effectively be 16, so more giants and dogs can spawn outside. So if you've ever wondered why you got 2 giants and a dog outside on Rend, this is why: you killed a masked and inadvertently increased the max outdoor power. As for why this happens? Likely an oversight, as I've heard that Zeekers originally intended the Masked enemies to be an exclusively outdoor entity.
@@barthes17I used to think the same but na..... it's becoming an increasing issue. At this point parent's shouldn't be giving their kids phones until 18 cuz of these creeps everywhere
I believe Masked is the most successful entity of Lethal Company. As is well known, Lethal Company's enemies have various divisions of labor: Eyeless Dog and Forest Keeper, which are difficult to deal with due to their attack power and health; Snare Flea and Bracken, who were difficult to respond to in a timely manner due to surprise attacks; Thumper, Jester known for its attack power and speed; Coil-Head and Ghost Girl, which are nauseating due to their visual field mechanism. But no matter how disgusting the enemy is, there is no such thing as Masked, which brings great fear to players in terms of game technology and psychology.
Ive had multiple instances where me and my team would find a Masked already outside when we hadnt even gone inside the building yet (only happened on Artifice so far, they would be at the door or roaming on the main path leading to the building), so not sure if thats intended or a glitch based on what you're saying but other than that, I've been waiting for an analysis on those guys! Great job 👌
What I like about the spin behavior of turned players is that that was a way many players would communicate they needed/wanted to be teleported out early on/before the masks were introduced, and now it is dangerous to do so
quick tip theres a very small window in between where it grabs you and when it vomits on you that you can hit it with a shovel but the time frame is vanishingly small but it is possible
I was onece killed at 8:30 on titan by one of these, i would be curious to know one day how monster spawn works (regadring time) because although it seems that most monster spawns after a specific hour on the moon, it's not the case every time.
i also find that when masked are sprinting it's hard for them to turn so if you strafe around them while they are sprinting (especially while fighting them) it's very easy to evade them
Can you do a deep dive into the AI behind @falseparadox3838's dad? he's an indoor entity, hazard level S, cannot be killed, 50 attack damage when provoked, and a max spawn of 1.
There is a difference between comedy and tragedy... comedy can be taken off before it takes you but tragedy cannot be taken off once you've raised it to your face, at least from my experience.
Teeechnically, the brakken can also go outside. 0:57 *(Note: This was before any new AI got added. So early on in the game's existence!! It may count, maybe not.)* To be fair in that case; It also ran straight back in after taking a couple steps outside. Killed someone just inside, chased us and got out. Also masked/mask? I dunno. Im not accepting that as their name. Not gonna happen lol. Then again, someone tell me what we called them originally? I Forgore.. ;-; >-< 5:48 Really helps when you're not playing past midnight, and during the week to boot XD I only work during the week maaan!! XD You're excused during holidays though. I adapt to play more with frends lmfao. Sucks to be me!! HA!! #EuropeanGang
Holy hell their stun animation is CREEPY, Zeekerss clearly got inspired by old horror movies like the exorcist and I love that Lethal Company is basically a love letter to horror. I find my them to be quite interesting, they fit the toy asthetic very well yet not completely if that makes sense. Also I like to wildly and unreasonably speculate on their origin like I headcanon that the are some sort of sentient, cursed, wooden product of an ancient civilization and they posses others to put them in a euphoric hivemind. Also maybe they don't you even "die" like a normal organism what if you just crack or "annoy" the mask enough to make it stop possesing I mean they posses others by rapid vomitting blood onto their face I don't think they follow rules of biology if they can just...bend them like that. But THAT'S just a theory a MASKED THEORY!!!!!! thanks for reading, geniuenly :) and if you have something you personally think of them please reply I love hearing other theories!
Titan. My whole team was dead. Ship was occupied by dogs. I was sitting on the roof with a showel waiting for a timer. Then suddenly I saw a mask climbed on a roof and started sprinting towards me. I just sh#t my pants. No idea how I dodged him. On a small roof but I killed him.
