Ressa received the Nobel Peace Prize for her investigative journalism in the Philippines and work combating disinformation online, highlighting the dangers of social media to democracy globally.
Author of A Brief History of AI, Mike Wooldridge is the director of Foundational AI Research at the Alan Turing Institute and professor of computer science at Oxford University.

An eloquent interview with all the relevant questions and answers. ❤❤❤ "We all need the right and correct solutions that technology to help us all to unite in our differences ethnic existance to the poorest upto the riches (war and no war) and all the intellectual to the average and the very least addressing who has no voice such a real current problems that technology was been created to do us no harm but good to all of us. A sense of focus to all responsible creative thinkers that are truly needed to make a real life difference to make a very useful approach with all relevant necessities true solutions that help us all for us to live in the next generations." AI is no different from an iPhone, no different from an Atari, no different from a television, no different from a phonograph, no different from the camera obscura! AI IS NOTHING BUT A TOY DESIGNED TO STIMULATE A PERSON’S SENSES FOR WHATEVER REASON. Ultimately, a real human being’s common sense will matter. Simply turn off the toy and go back to basics of real human interaction. Stop letting a toy decide for you or letting the toy think for you. THINK FOR YOUR SELF! Maria Ressa, why haven’t you tackled mainstream media lies? How big corporate companies have taken over media, turning them into their own marketing department for profit? How pretty much journalists have become jesters posing as journalists? Social media is not the threat, IT IS MAINSTREAM MEDIA. Stop worrying about disinformation in social media, confront disinformation in mainstream media.

If AI has bias, then humans have bias. It seems easier to identify bias and train AI not to engage than it is to change humanity.

From what I see already of AI is that it is making everything homogenized. I watched a video generated from text using AI. It was depressingly boring. What about students copying and pasting big sections of text into their essays? Where is their individuality and personality? The default style dominates worldwide. The teddy bear I have drawn for my identifier here on RU-vid I drew. I refuse to use a default image.

So disappointing that a person with so much time and experience in the field, who has written so much, can have such a narrow view on what AI actually is (and what is required). No, AI is NOT all about Big Data and Big Compute. Machine Learning is just the 800lb shoggoth in the room which started wearing the AI brand in 2012, and has been slipping-on the AGI brand for the past year.

She was being modest. But I get your point - and I agree that she does not know a ton about AI because journalism is her forte to begin with. But that is also why they had Mike on to expand and crunch down AI in a way the audience and even Maria would understand.

lol very unproductive convo about AI. It's like a Wiki entry of what are the current issues with AI but doesn't offer any insights for solutions. Ressa also kept on channeling the convo to what happened to her which was quite annoying.

She has knowledge on the topic as well so she has to give her input. I think that is why they brought her here. Otherwise just get an ordinary interviewer. I understand though she talks a lot more than regular interviewer.
