The Brett Kollmann effect is that football fans everywhere are much smarter and have a deeper understanding of our beloved game simply by watching his 🐐 videos. Thank you man for sharing your immense knowledge with us it’s greatly appreciated.
You wish. Years after proving it was ever a myth, everyone still claims they _know_ Fields can't read defenses. Even the last time Brett & EJ talked about him it seemed like _they_ were convinced of this. Matt Eberflus must have made quite the deal with whatever demon. Imagine if the Jets found some way to unlock Zach Wilson & he suddenly produced 2X as many points. Imagine 3 weeks later they returned to using the previous play-calls. Jets fans would grab Hackett & Saleh, and bring them to the closest train or bus station & make damned sure they were on the quickest out of town vehicle when it left. Eberflus called for Fields to Not Throw to certain receivers, got Called Out Publicly on suspicion of this by media _and_ Fields himself (after week 7 of '22) making 'Flus feel like he had to lay off of it & for the next 3 weeks the pre-D.J. Moore *Bears* led the NFL in offense. & then they returned to the previous plays including ordering Fields to Hang Onto The Ball unless some other receiver came open. Fields followed his HC's commands. All you fans & "people who get smarter listening to Brett" responded by Blaming Fields for losing those games.
@@Andrew-vy1jnno he wasn’t.. Aiden put up the numbers he did as the primary pass rusher on his team, taking up most of the attention of the offense. Trayvon got his production off the back of one of the best edges itl. He didn’t have nearly as much attention on him
Oh wow, I can't wait to watch this video about a young, talented NFC North football player with his best years in front of him and who is beloved by all Michigan Wolverine fans playing one of the most important positions in the sport and doing so at a high level! So where's that JJ McCarthy video? Too soon?
As a Lions fan from birth I think it's just great that Hutch is not just a crazy generational talent but that Detroit as a TEAM is in such a good place to utilize his talents to reach actual success. Too many times HOF players careers are amazing in Detroit but get overshadowed by losing seasons.
Great vid, Go Blue. Math mistake at 1:10. If elite pass rushers have 25-30% of the pressures, then everyone else has 70-75% of the pressures (not 65-70%).
I think what makes his pressure rates even more insane was the fact Detroit has had NOBODY aside from him his first two years. The person second in sacks lined up from him were John Cominsky and Romeo Okwara who both had 2 total.
@@shadybrain3424McNeil isn’t an edge rusher and Houstan didn’t play till the postseason last year. I’m referring to the pressures he accumulated without someone of the opposite side to aid him
James Houston had 8 and a half sacks 2 years ago. And McNeil had 5.5 sacks last year which matters cause he was taking up double teams in the interior.Otherwise you would have had Hutchinson being blasted with a 30% double team rate like Parsons and Garrett 😂Hutchinson is amazing but you don't have to discredit the Lion's D-Line to emphasise that, we been knowing.
The fact that ANYONE has a higher share of team pressures than Crosby is insane to me. Every Raiders game I watched last season seemed like he by himself on that defense.
Just imagine if the Lions had somehow signed Crosby to their DL! Sure, the money would have been steep, but those two would have just crushed souls on the opposing OL
Not a raiders fan but man when the raiders played the lions last year Crosby looked like a man amongst boys. He was easily the best player on the field. Just shocked he came from eastern Michigan and even more shocked gruden drafted him considering he and mayoc had some of the worst drafts in the last 20 years.
Dj Reader and Marcus Davenport are going to help Hutch out a lot this year along with Levi and Houston being back from injury and Alim taking that next step.
Alim and DJ in the middle could be terrifying. Then you got Dav and Hutch on the outside! On paper we could have the best d line in the league this year
Sometimes, just before I fall asleep, I can still hear EJ telling me about how QBS is a stat that he developed with Arjun Menon who is now working with the Jets, formerly of PFF, which is how well the teams set the table for their QB. That's how much I watched those videos ha.
Wow you really put all those people in their place. I bet nobody will ever say anything again until they 'learn' the game like you have. Feel better now?
@@JM-md4riwow you really put him in his place, you must feel so cool right now. You’re right, he’s foolish but you? You’re veeeeery smart. The smartest boy around some would say. Feel better now douche?
I love watching a speed rush from Dwight Freeney to have a reference point for a spin move from Dwight Freeney to have a reference point for Aiden Hutchinson’s spin move This is the shit I live for Brett
Power is the biggest determining factor of if a rusher is going to be good in the NFL. Almost every prospect who has some type of potential gets into the league and struggle a bit because they havent gotten adjusted to the power and anchor of NFL offensive linemen. Once they do, they instantly become WMD’s on the edge. What I find more interesting though are power based rushers who come into the league and have to develop counters off their power..
Love Hutch. Don’t think he gets the credit he deserves because the sack numbers aren’t up at the high teens or 20’s. I would have liked to see you show the amount of chips he gets on a game by game basis. The lions have no other outside pass rush threat and teams key on him consistently with chips and doubles.
That’s what’s been amazing about him too. They go into games week by week knowing teams are going to be solely focused on him and he’s still been undeterred. Still young and only getting better too.
I'm a Michigander, so Hutch is my guy. He played high school, college, and now the pros all for the mitten and he seems like an actually decent person.
From Plymouth (still lives there), played HS football in Dearborn, college football in Ann Arbor, and now pro in Detroit. All of which is within a 30-mile radius. He is a local legend!
This video came out 45 seconds ago according to my youtube app and theres already comments of 30 seconds saying "great video" how did yall watch so fast
I’ve always said about Hutchinson that he has mastered all the basics and not much more (yet) and has paired it with the most insane physical talent and an intensity that is hard to match
Love the breakdown. Figured you might mention Freeney when you started talking about Hutch's spin. And you're right about Detroit fans, I specifically watch Hutch on every play when he's in, even when he's blocked up by 2 or 3 guys he's worth watching.
I wasn’t excited about Hutch at first, but he really made me a fan just by watching him week after week! The Lions President (who is in charge of the brand) said Hutch has the highest selling jersey on the team!
Lions have been getting pretty lucky with insane quality available at their picks past few years. Hutch should have gone 1st overall. Sewell should have been gone too.
It’s clear the Holmes regime has not messed around in the scouting department. It’s crucial. It also helps that we have a guy like John Dorsey here too who basically built the chiefs into who they are today and built the Browns up during the Mayfield era. That guy knows young talent.
He was so great to watch in college. I wish he didn't all but dissappear against Georgia, but perhaps that great disappointment propelled him to be so good in the NFL. I'm actually looking forward to watching the Lions this year. That has never happened for me.
Aiden Hutchinson Madden rating is 88 this year. Guess that’s what happens when you have three sacks against the Cowboys and the ratings guy is an open Cowboys homer.
im a little disappointed you tried to break down the mechanics of the counter spin and not mentioning the "ice pick", which is them swinging that outside elbow as hard as you can into the OL
I'm having a hard time paying attention to what you're saying when there is such a BEAUTUFUL VIEW outside of your windows! 🪟😮 How spectacular!! Ok.. back to Aidan Hutchinson! What a BEAST! I am a true blue and green Seahawks #12! We're 3-0 so far, and we're playing the Lions on Monday night football! I've been doing my homework about the Lions and the first name coming out of the mouths of all my "RU-vid Tutors is AIDAN HUTCHINSON!😮 HE LOOKS TERRIFYING! We will need to STOP that "Sacking Machine! We CAN do it! I know we can!! GO SEAHAWKS!💙💚💙💚
Your videos never fail to impress man. With the Heed the Call podcast up and running with underdog, any chance we might see you as a guest on there someday?
He looks like our "Legion of Boom" but with only ONE PERSON! Now I'm a Lil bit scared! We're playing the Lions on Monday night! I'm a loyal #12 from the Seahawks. We've had a great opening season BUT... we haven't played against a '97. His numbers are intimidating. Our guys better be doing their homework! I have all the faith in the world in our new coach Mike McDonald! Go Seahawks 💙💚💙💚
@@enthusedfern no it doesn't I've broken it down iny previous comment but you don't seem to be the same level of debater you're just making claims and no evidence but some of these other people might actually change my mind(the entire point of these engagements) so I'm probably just going to ignore you
Guy is a beast I find it funny though from practice are trying to say the guy with a broken back levy onwuzurie is the best defensive lineman on the team😅 calm down it's practice people I promise you he ain't better than Aidan Hutchinson and I'm willing to make a safe bet that he ain't better than a lean McNeil either he's the guy who's finally healthy Emily gets to prove what he should have been coming out of college. In Hutchinson's the best lineman on the defense
I’ve watched hutch play since before he was in hs, he has been a beast and we all knew he was league bound, it’s amazing to see him blossom into such a star especially being that he stayed home
God, I love your work here and on the BLP! Even as a Spartan fan, when I 1st saw Hutch I wanted him for the 🦁 , even though he was frim UM. Why? Simple, I said "My god!! He's a freaking monster!!! 💯👀🤣🎙👍🏾👍🏾
I knew Hutchinson had shorter arms. I thought he was a smaller Edge rusher because of it. NOPE! 6'7 270. Crosby is 6'5 255. Both Iron Men in the trenches!
Brett, this video was really well done! Hutchinson is impressive, but as a younger fan, I am amazed by the speed of Freeney's spin move. Frame by frame, Hutchinson's full-speed spin move looks like Freeney's in slow motion. Crazy, love the breakdowns.
Freeney was a shorter player but her was 285-pushing 300 some games.Man if he put on like 15-25lbs and still was able to be so flexible and fast. BEAST.
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the kislux leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations.
All of this is great! Thanks for the breakdown. He's already pretty damn good at his position, I'm hoping he takes another step and completely dominates with Tyrell Williams as his D-Line coach!
Brett can you explain how Trey Hendrickson is rank 77 after he was 2nd in sacks in the NFL & had his best year in sacks production..yet he’s at 77..I simply just don’t get these rankings
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
Anyone else kinda salty they weren't born as a white , blond 6ft 5 athletic phenom who is going to have 100 ms in the bank before 25 ? 💀💀. Seems like a pretty chill life 😂
He has gotten much much better against the run and taking on blockers since when he was at Michigan. I would like to see him continue developing there as well as lowering his level on tackles which as result of being huge he still basically tackles with his arms standing almost straight up (not something you should try with a guys like McCaffrey). Even with that being said Hutchinson is still probable one of the best true defensive ends in the league and likely will be for years to come. [edit] Before at one gets on my case for mild criticism , watch JJ Watt and Jared Allen, that is where I like to see Aiden get.
He’s a more athletic Trey Henderson, he’s not the best tackler in space, he don’t have a lot of pass rush moves although he’s been seriously getting better at that, he spams the spin move a lot, but let’s look at the positives he’s fast for his size, we haven’t seen him with much help defensively on his team, he can drop back in coverage a lil bit l, he’s ELITe against the run besides his tackling in space😂, he’s Always on the field, so far he seems to be clutch, there’s more overall he’s getting better and better all the flaws in his early game are clearly improving 13.5 sacks incoming
Hey Brett. The data scientist in me wants to point out that the infographic showing the percentage of pressure a player accounts for from a team’s total production is wrong. 25-30% would be about twice that size of the blue region.
Brett, where do you think this focus on power leaves somebody like Latu? And also, this is an awesome video, I'd love to see more technique focused videos like this in addition to the Xs and Os stuff. It feels so hard to find accessible technique videos on RU-vid for a layman fan
Trench play is very important in football but without deep dives like this, most people don’t know the intricacies. It’s why this content is so valuable.
Trent Baalke is a joke for passing on Aidan Hutchinson. His ego wouldn't allow him to take the consensus best player he had to prove that knows better than everyone.
What’s crazier is Hutch was injured bad after being tackled in week 5 after intercepting the football and trying to return it. He went 60% most of the year because of that hit
