The A380 was not even a financial fail. What it did for Airbus trust, what engineers learned and the advertizing effect for more then a decade are priceless.
I love them but they are apparently way too expensive to run. This is why so many companies are getting rid of them over the coming years. Everytime I fly I always go for the A380s I just find them exciting!
One of my happiest memories was watching the first take-off of the 380 from my kitchen window. I was one of the very few British (I am now naturalized French) in the Toulouse area who was not an Airbus (or subcontractor) employee but …. if you are from Toulouse ….. your heart swells with pride every time Airbus makes another step forward.
I would like to Thank everyone who is involved creating and building this great plane. At the end of the year, I will have my first flight in the A380. I'm really looking forward to that day...
Due to accumulated tier miles with Emirates I was fortunate enough to have my economy class seating bumped up to business class during my very first trip on the Airbus 380. The sheer luxury was just jaw dropping unbefuckinleavable. Here I was at 40 000 feet above planet earth's surface, racing between continents thorough the atmosphere at 915 k/ph, seated at a half moon shaped bar counter being served cocktails and drinks during a flight that was as smooth as if secured on a soft padded sofa placed stable on a sold concrete slab. One could fill your glass to the brim and not a single drop would spill. The engineering genius of this flying monstrosity blew my mind. THIS was the metamorphosis end result of what started out as a rich imagination that evolved into reality.
Airbus 380 was one of the best decisions they made, knowing that they would tople Boeing as The Biggest. People and buyers throughout the world took notice. This has given fame to Airbus and a lot of respect that has resulted in increase in sales of their other, smaller aircraft.
@@alexausberlinThat was actually not Airbus' fault, they produced Aircrafts and buyers(Airways)bought them knowing very well not all their destinations have long enough&appropriate runways. Its like blaming car manufacturers when the car you bought is too long for your driveway or car park.
Exactly. It was not succesful commercially, but Airbus was noticed, it showed, that they can make big, good quality airplanes etc. I would say that in the end it worked out for them very well.
It reminds me so much of an albatross, soaring high into the sky. I have been lucky enough to fly a few times in seat 1A. Truly wonderful experiences. I don't feel right unless I'm in the beautiful A380.
Hi, I also ❤❤❤ the A380, By far my favourite aircraft since I saw it first fly on TV back in 2005, 6 years later in 2010, I got my first opportunity to fly on it on the DXB-LHR-DXB on flight EK001 which is of course an Emirates flight, I was super excited and when it took off effortlessly, I was like wow, awesome, felt effortless, very comfy ride ❤❤❤❤ it even more, I also got another chance in March 2014 on the DXB-MEL sector and by far my longest flight ever and I was very happy the flight was also an A380 A6-EDD to be precise belonging again to Emirates. Loved every minute of it and I'm hoping now in 2024 on my next trip, I am hoping it will be another memorable A380 journey. Thinking about it makes me soo excited and its an aircraft I will happily board and fly again and again and again. Awesome spectacular marvel of engineering for sure.
This is my dream plane! I hope that one day I will be able to get on one of those babies and to enjoy an amazing journey! Meanwhile, I am very happy with A350!!!! Amazing plane as well. 😁 Thanks to all people involving making this jumbo! Salute!
People say the jumbo is dead but now...after the pandemic, the A380 is proving to be just plane needs to ferry more passengers more, not solely to rely on the 777,787,A350 and A330
sometimes people who dare to do the impossible did it for the pride, only to be pushed back by the reality of the consumer demands. concorde, A380 and 747.
How ever, How Many , What ever & more nobody could see Covid coming.....be it the small or bigger planes all grounded.... can engineers, designers, management, clients really take into account everything that can happen on this Earth....
Airlines and governments should lean more towards risk management than maximising profit margins. To carry so many passengers on a single plane when there are so many risks does not make sense. 🤷
They've built largest airplane with most complex manufacturing infrastructure. They should have built 20 aircraft in advance.... Then they would have had a threshold for no delays success.
So somehow Boeing is correct by saying there is no need for big airplane to connect passenger to point A to B. Since they continued 747 and came out with big suprised a Boeing 777-300ER which is now more economical than A380 and since after pandemic many A380 were grounded due to low passengers and also i think AIrbus announced that they will discontinues manufacturing A380.
Boeing wasn't wrong. But, Airbus building an engineering marvel definitely reinforced people's belief in Airbus. Look at where Boeing is now. It's struggling to maintain it's reputation whereas Airbus is becoming the industry favorite.
So who build the biggest Passanger liner? Europe! (A380) Who build the fastest Passanger Jet? Europe! (Concorde) Who build the sales leader for the last 30 Years? Europe! (A320) USA - Go home and cry a bit louder. We make planes for peace - You only make things that make KA-BOOM.
Im european, but boeing sales are still way up from airbus. USA has amazing high tech industry and the US is actually capable of excersising influence on the world. Our governments are constantly bickering at each other. Not asying us europeans have nothing going for us living standards wise and that we dont have good high tech industries, the US has pretty much shaped the modern world and has formed the basis for the freedom we live in now.
@@timmiekat6072Airbus has outsold and out delivered Boeing the last five years . No idea where you got your information from. You are talking bs . Commercial aircraft sales is what we are talking about here and Boeing lags considerably .
a failed engine on a380 is just a joke... you cand land this with 2 failed engines, even on the same wing. this is a flying fortress. it can also be fuel efficent, but only when it is fully booked. (wich a A380 often is).
The A380 is a 'bit' larger plane than the Queen - the B747- but that is about it. If the A380 in any way made history, it's a the last large four engined turbofan. And that is all. That it is a 'plane that changed the world' is just nonsence.
17:18 that came to be right A380 came to service too late. The place for jumpo jet was narrow If airbus would able to launch the A380 from the early 1990s it would have taken the market from the 747s

America must be a powerful nation that 4 countries have to work together to build a plane that can surpass Boeing. Surprised that the Germans worked with Britain even when RU-vid have feed me with documentaries about their war. And the French would forever be scared of the Germans
The mistake with the wires is so stupid! So unprofessional... It's really amateurish. I don't want to imagine what other mistakes were made. A real shame.
