By viewer request, here is a short technical breakdown of the AK’s operating system, hopefully this is helpful to you in understanding this awesome weapon system!

About Me
My name is Brandon Herrera. I'm the owner and operator of The AK Guy Inc, a 07 Firearm Manufacturer based out of Fayetteville, NC. I also co-own Stark Media Group, and designed the rifle known as the AK-50.
I've started to dedicate this RU-vid channel above all to have fun, but also as a way to document my entrepreneurial journey for the next few years as I try to grow my companies. Hopefully, people can learn from my example, successes, and failures.
Either way, I'm having a lot of fun with it so far, and I hope it's just as fun to follow along!

I am a little confused , you said the ak is named "Saiga Legion" I know saiga is a Russian shotgun similar to the ak . What you were holding looked like an ak 101 to be honest

DIREKTOR THE SLAV Saiga isn’t a shotgun, but more of a brand. The Saiga 12 is a shotgun.

I ran a 5.45 AR for years before the 7n6 got banned. Ran nothing but corrosively primed ammunition through it and cleaned it with water and Simple Green. The lube got washed out like the gunk did. I was able to see just how little lubrication an AR needs. An AR will run dry if it is clean. It will run dirty if it is lubed. But an AK runs dirty AND dry.

I messed the AK first time in Afghanistan as a US Army Infantrymen. The ANP Afghani pulling Tower Guard with me was high AF off khat and so we then exchanged weapons with each other. He showed me how to field strip and reassemble his AK while I showed him the same with the M4. We then exchanged IPOD’s to listen to each other’s music. Awesome experience that o was happy to experience. Yes he was young like me and high as a kite lmao. Good dude

I love mechanical things. Learning how they operate and why and what they do when things go wrong. It is why I work on cars for a living, enjoy watching the exposed mechanism for steam locomotives, and the relative simplicity of a firearm. I don't have an AK yet, but I may in the future. Watching these videos lets me know what to avoid to get a good one. Keep it up.

If you want to make something even simpler then combine the fire control group of an AK with the roller delayed blowback action of a HK G3. The rotating bolt action of the AK is still pretty complex when compared to something like the hinged locking piece breechblock action of the vz. 58.

One thing I'd love to see is a detailed illustration of how the bolt unlocks - that's the one part of the mechanism I'm not sure how it works - obviously it isn't just providing backward force, because the round is already doing that by virtue of being an explosion, so I am wondering what controls the unlock timing and enables those lugs to rotate without the explosion coming out the back too soon or too late.

Here in finland our army uses the valmet rk version of the ak and I did not know how the shell is ejected from the gun before this video and I have taken apart and cleaned and shot my "rk62" in the military hundreds of times... thanks for the new info❤️

Funny - I just explained to my co workers (about two hours ago), how the beautiful swiss rifle Stgw 90 (aka SIG550) works, in order to take them to the range on Wednesday. Could have told them to watch your vid as it's essentially the same, except my spring is in front of the bolt, alongside the piston.

Fun Fact: in Russian school in the 10th grade you go through the military exercises(all 10th grade boys visit a military base for 5 days where they do lots of things). So, today I was performing semi-building of AK.
