The Alamo - Crossing the Line 

Without doubt the absolute best part of this film.

Davy Crockett dismounted last because he wanted his men to follow their own conscience, and not simply follow what he wished. John Wayne truly understood individualism.

They gave it their best shot against all odds, remember the Alamo indeed lives on

Both men are thinking the same thing “I’m humbled and honored to die next to you”

We love John Wayne and the Alamo Movie!!!

How can any American not be touched by this?

I love when Bowie, after quarrelling with him throughout the movie (which was, I believe, an exaggeration of their conflict), climbs off his horse and takes his place besides Travis.

The “look” from Travis unexpectedly being joined by Bowie, at this moment, is one of admiration and profound respect. Great acting by both Richard Widmark and especially Laurence Harvey. Combined w/the glorious music of Dimitri Tiomkin I feel it is the best scene in a thoroughly inaccurate but highly entertaining western.

Bowie changed his mind about leaving since his family was dead of a plague, he committed suicide by remaining, to join them "on the other side."

Apparently, not to sure, it is said that during this moment Bowie heard what Travis said and told his men "Get me out off my bed and drag me across that line"

Good movie - but propaganda

"I hope they Remember. I hope TEXAS Remembers."

I heard that John Wayne mortgaged his home to pay for this movie’s production personally. Luckily it was a smashing success! A story of personal dedication told by someone who was exercising the same values at the time sure makes for a powerful and personal retelling. It may not be the most accurate, but it certainly sparked an interest in this time period- ultimately the memory of the real men and their actions is what matters most.

Lawrence Harvey - always a fine performance

An amazing scene, it's so powerful. Just re-affirms my admiration for John Wayne.

When the few made a statement with their lives.......raises the bar pretty damn high

its about being human...humanity at it's very best...

Gets me every time.

King of the wild frontier!!

Whether accurate or not, it sets the tone for the defenders who sacrifice their lives for a love of country and eventually the state of Texas. People try to re write history but can't take away the courage shown in this clip

Bowie was in bed with a fever( not a busted leg).That should tell you right there it didn't happen this way.

This never happened. This is the Duke at his best.

Movies like this make you think America is a great and noble place. It's not. Hell of a movie though. Classic for sure.
