I’ve always loved The Alarm and this song is epic! One of the greatest moments of my life was jumping with Mike Peters in the pit at a Big Country concert in 2013. He put his arm around me! lol
Saw the Alarm in '86 at Wembley in London - the Brits had just heard INXS and could not care, but the Alarm sure woke everyone up. Had never heard of them in "The States." But this song - one of the great songs of any band in my book.
Im in that audience somewhere. Great night. Didnt have tickets but blagged our way in anyway. Loved every minute of it. Met the guys in the pub afterwards. Did I say it was a great night? :-)
Mike the front man had cancer and I'm glad that he recovered and the early 80's the Alarm had hits and 99 guns and mtv was proud to having mike and the Alarms on radio and mtv had a collection of my buddy Mike and my mother died of cancer 5 years ago and I do pray and now I preach and do Prison Bible Ministry Mike God is good all the time and Jesus be with Mike always
Saw The Alarm playing in the preprogram of U2 in Ahoy Rotterdam. About 1985. Lots of pictures and films must have been taken. Was a great concert! PeDenBe
I’ve never heard this but it is terrific! Bass player adds some melodies to the song, since the 12 string guy is mostly knocking out chords. Good stuff indeed.
I am wondering if there is a audio recording of this performance. Tape, vinyl....? The reason I ask is because I am almost certain that I heard this very version on WXRT in Chicago sometime in the early 1990s....
at first you notice the hair... then boots and gear... hmmm kinda punk.... but there's those big bluddy acoustics... and a harmonica... protest songs... kinda Clash... doubt that would offend them... but honestly I love the Alarm for saving my life when Prog died... [ U2 too... and later... SIMPLE MINDS ! ! ]
@kylethompson4 They didn't own it because the music industry want's more phony do gooders like Bono that folks like the Alarm. I quit listening to Me 2 after War.
I was 13 when this song came out and remember trying to pretend to like it just to try and hook up with a cute girl who was into them. Awful song. They did have better ones imo that eventually grew on me.
