I wish I read this during my degree years ago. The difference between theory and practice is so great in some areas of economics it's hard not be a cynic. Economics class can be frustrating because some assumptions are not based in reality but more in an ideal world.

I appreciate your honesty. Its refreshing to see a post expressing honest emotions. Most people on the web talk from false ego. I listened twice and will again until I grasp it enough to use the lessons. Remember only 5% of the world truly get it, hence the reason why that 5% truly rules the world. The other 95% are pretending to impress people they don't know.

IIRC, the day he "broke the British Pound", and put him on the map, only happened because a few British officials made very weird decisions that to this day no one has tried, much less been able to, explain. Some kid tried to bring it up in Econ 101 (not is a hostile Conspiracy Theory way, just as "notable event") and our prof was obviously afraid to discuss it. Similarly, lots of insiders profited massively when the Great Depression was triggered. No "Economics Insight" ever found, just insider deals. @@PatRiot-

+Vahe Hovhannisyan Well they may have been realistic when the book was written in the 80's. He stated that "central banks are among the most flexible, innovative, and efficient institutions". Innovative - yes... flexible and efficient don't seem to be accurate descriptions of current central banking regimes.

I was actually a little worried about that, but so far it seems I have much more in common with him than I expected.. One thing I'm finding difficult to reconsile is why a man as capable as him in terms of deductive power and reason, would be doing so much damage to the world as he has in recent times. Maybe the most effective way of breaking people free from the matrix, is to destroy the shakels of comfort?

Alchemy isn't about profits. It is about personal development. Turning lead to gold was never about actual gold, it was about a spiritual transformation. Making profit from ideas may or may not be an outcome of this personal development.

Sorry if this is late, but I believe investing, or more specifically options trading. Is undoubtedly the most efficient way to make money. If you could reliably predict that someone is going to come in to your storefront that you are renting, and purchase food, groceries, clothing or any sort of physical object, or abstract service that you could provide. Would you hire someone, or even use up your own time? I guess it depends on the person. Self realization, gaining fulfillment etc. Or would you take the “harder” route of learning derivatives, markets, finance and stocks etc. I don’t really agree with what the other person who replied said, because alchemy is exactly the definition you said.

I agree... Or it should be read until you know it by heart.. Shouldn't matter either way as long as one finds ar least one gold nugget. Twice is always better than once, three.. You get the deal👌🏽 We shouldn't forget one more factor as ir also depends on where each individual is, in their understanding and stage in life.. I personally would nees to read it a minimum of 3😅

It is confusing to read because Soros narrative jumps from idea to idea, some being developed with examples and others are elaborated only by his subjective musings which by any measure is not the most effective method of presenting a thesis. There doesn’t seem to be any particular order in this exposition. In other words Soros may have been a gifted financier but was not a great writer. Or, it may be that some of this has been lost in translation. Either way it’s not a reflection on anyone’s intelligence this material is difficult to understand; like Einstein said, if you truly understand a topic you could explain it to your grandmother.
