ODIN: Three against one, eh? MIMIR: Don’t forget me, All-F***er! ODIN: What did you call me? MIMIR: That one’s for Brok! 😂 Always loved that emotionally damaging jab at Odin coming from Mímir!
@Cafearmuire We don't really know if they helped. They aren't even mentioned, which is weird, were they dead? Forsetti is mentioned more and he also doesn't show up, so who knows what the other Gods were doing assuming they weren't dead.
1:47 really sinistier, exactly what i would expect from a germanic god; and necromancer, the mysterious old man of the staff, as Tolkien used to call him.
Odins tale is a tragedy sadness madness and sorrow Santa Monica's version of odin is like a dark wizard who stole and killed to obtain his power and knowledge its fascinating if you break it down all he wanted was answers but by any means a ruthless cunning master of manipulation
"YOUR OWN SON?! YOUR GRANDDAUGHTER?! WHY?!?!" "Thrud's gonna be fine. I saved her... And Thor? That one's on you! You turned him against me! You turned them all against me!" "Odin! You can stop this, please!" "YOU can stop this! Just give me my mask!" "Sure! Trust you! That's a good idea!" "And you... You just can't help yourself, can you? Destroyer. That's all you are. It's all you ever will be." "You started this fight!!!" "No, no, no. This all started long before you arrived here. You... are a nobody. A Plague. GOD-KILLER!"
Before "you started this fight",there were some dialogue that missing. This one: (Odin grunt) Odin:How could you do this to me,Loki? Atreus:I'm trying to fix this! Odin:Wake up son, there is no fixing this!
There is a theory that odins has a piece of soul in hungon and munin. Thats why he threw them in a desprate moment, not to attack them but to have an escape route in case he dies (fun fact when freya binds him he also tries to do the same thing). Thats why he cried out a "no" when munin s throat got crushed by freya, because one of his hopes of living got fked. If u think about it, odin always had schemes up his sleeve so this makes a fitting thing for him to do (like thinking of ways to survive). If this theory is corect his last words have a bigger meaning now
That was phenomenal...I had goosebumps for like every single section of this piece 😭 FANTASTIC job, you really gave the All-Fucker's Soundtrack a perfect mix 🥂
How did this theme make me want to be evil so bad, not like megamind or doofenschmirtz evil, but like full on committing horrific crimes of morality and just being pure malicious evil
Do you know where i can find that violin loop (9:18) when the 3 are doing their combo on odin right at the end of the boss? Or maybe you could do it ;)
Every time I feel bad with him having to emphasize trust and that he cares about Atreus, I remember that this monster so callously threw away his wife, uses his children and their children like pawns and only cares what job is unfulfilled when they die, curses his own workers and subjects for simply disagreeing, torturing one of his own sons for simply not wanting war and seeking peace, treats another like a dog who he prefers wasted and a piss-drunk bum, and the last as nothing more than an immortal hound. The only being he vaguely respects and hates seeing die is Huggin, and even then I doubt it's because Huggin was his closest confidant, more the powers Huggin possessed and what knowledge and power he lost through Huggin's perfectly avoidable death. Odin is a monster without compare. Zeus was a megalomaniac monster, but when he did bad things, he did it and got it over with. Odin consistently gave those fates worse than death. Robbing Freya of her independance, ruining Thor's life and throwing Thor's sons away like garbage to further his goals, forcing Sigrun and the valkyries to go mad and never again gain true corporeal form, grooming Gna, Hrist, and Mist into paragons of his corruption that they'd never recover from, even in death, melding Mimir to a tree for daily tortures and even in freedom, he still made sure Mimir suffered as he longer has a body, removing Tyr's one thing he truly treasured, nature and journey, from his life, and more. There is no end to Odin's cruelty. Where Zeus was an evil emperor who removed all threats to him swiftly and cruely, Odin was a mafia boss who knew what people treasured and how exactly to weaponize that to give fates no one would ever wish for before death.
9:16 “This part gives me a strong urge to ÍSSPRENGJA!” Couldn’t have put it better myself. When I first heard that part I Íssprengja’d all over the place.
The last part made me feel the greatness and at the same time madness and sadness of Odin. The thing that unites Odin and Loki is that both of them want to know more but the difference is that Odin will do whatever to achieve it. Great music !
Yeah Both Loki and Odin almost feel like a mirror to each other. Both of them wanted answer and seeking knowledge Loki could be end up like Odin the all-fucker if he didn't get a guindance from Kratos and Faye or choose to blindly follow his obsesion without caring about others. Odin in other hand are always paranoid and fear death make him always wanted to know whats gonna happen next so he could avoid fate. which make him a Goddamn Coward and a cunning manipulator. Odin could chose to be better but he refuse and continue to pursue his goal even if it cost everything.
@@AlexTheDominator1453 I think its more you hate the direction they took with kratos then the game itself. Atreus is a kid and immature- its kinda the point- developers said so themselves. If you see the directors interviews with people you see he did well what he wanted to do. It's just not what you wanted then the game itself being bad.
@@AlexTheDominator1453 There optional bosses. If you made odin and thor harder people would complain. No one's gonna complain about optional bosses being more difficult since their optional. A lot of games do this.
@@AlexTheDominator1453 it's game mechanics. story bosses aren't supposed to be very hard while optional ones can. In lore, the story bosses would obviously waaay more difficult and powerful than optional bosses.
Too many people were expecting him to be Zeus: the sequel. I really like how he’s a sleazy liar who sprinkles just enough truth to make people trust him.
@@Nierguy I'll be honest with you... I would have LOVED to see a roided up madman, so deep in his pursuit of knowledge that he would do anything to obtain it. I would have loved to see two seasoned warrior-gods crack the earth under the sheer weight of their blows. I was hoping Odin would just drop his facade when the mask broke, like a metaphorical shattering of the mask he's been wearing in front of everyone.
@@rangopistacho6928 Great writing that even though we were warned up and down in the last game how he is such a compulsively obvious liar that there's no way you could trust him, but he still managed to manipulate our characters. This video on him worded it pretty well ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RxRn6tpSqkc.html

One thing I love about this is that you can tell by the music that Odin is slowly getting more and more desperate as time goes on he's not used to being backed into a corner like this
Hel if I get ganged up on by two of the strongest of my enemies from these lands I would be hard pressed, but throw into that the raging embodiment of destruction itself, a foreign God of War notorious for slaying gods and took out an entire pantheon, then yeah I would start pissing myself...
@@Vayne_Solidor phase 3: "You don't get it! No, (Muninn dies) NOOOOOO!!!! - Everything that I worked for, everything that I killed for! What was it all for Loki? what was It all FOR???!!! I JUST WANTED ANSWERS!!!!"
Hopefully Bear Mcreary sees posts like this. The melody itself makes you feel for the character. His work shines brightest when he extends the characters feeling.
@@MrHealingmonk I absolutely agree. For this particular section (the one I mentioned in my first comment), I really wish he had made it longer. I feel like it does such a great job at describing Odin's character.
@@Vayne_Solidor they realy messed up with this. How on earth a final boss track can be reduced like this? Thor theme is shorter as well. And not to mention some tracks that were not even released, like garms theme
This is fucking epic and feels so right for Odin, honestly. Although, I’m still just looking for the actual music that plays when Odin gets his soul extracted and crushed by Sindri. Anyone got that?
The choir in Odin's theme always made me think of the cries of all the people he has killed, tortured and deceived during his reign. Also this part at 7:58 is the first piece of music that ever managed to give me goosebumps! You can just *feel* the goddamn forces that are clashing here! The All-father himself against all the combined might and hatred of the nine realms. All of it crashing down on Odin...and yet he manages to withstand, even if just for a brief moment!
You'are all pretending as if Odin is worse than Kratos. At least Odin cares and protects humans in his realm. He also tries to help the dead warriors and clears their minds from torment. Kratos never cared about humans, it was all mindless revenge and brutal genocide, even against his own race, most of the gods did nothing wrong to him and yet he murdered them with unimaginable brutality. Just because he got saggy balls at his old age and pretends to change and be a good boy, doesn't fix his past genocides. It's like forgiving Hitler simply because he said he's changed and donated to charity now. At least Odin had an ACTUAL worthy goal in mind, Kratos was just a savage beast.
There's like half a dozen sub-themes in this fight and it miffs me to no end we didn't get them seperate with the soundtrack release. Thank you for providing us a mix that is closer to the experience in-game!
There are parts of this theme that remind me of the Bloodborne theme, which is fitting for a couple reasons: 1. There’s a Bloodborne reference in the game 2. They share a pivotal theme: one man’s relentless pursuit of knowledge and power… and the countless deaths his subsequent descent into madness causes. All in all, I think this is my favorite theme in the game.
@Xehanort10 Bit off topic, but I actually feel like Odin is how Xehanort should have been. Especially in Birth by Sleep. You know, actually being a manipulator instead of using Terra's stupidity. Odin was seriously so convincing.
Thank you for this! I really wish game osts would just include everything. I couldn't even find the main melody you hear playing throughout the entire game that I loved (you hear it when Atreaus confronts the revived Fenrir for the first time, for example).
i really dont understand people who complain about this boss. Odin is not meant to be a physically strong god like Thor or Baldur. He is clearly older and not as skilled when it comes to fighting someone who knows how to defend themselves. That is why he always gave Thor the heavy lifting. Him resorting to magic makes complete sense for his character.

1:41 gave me blood borne vibes mainly Maria's theme. they sound similar with the music sounding like it's going full throttle, showing what the boss is capable of.
The original album didn't include the epic parts what make me put the ''ahegao face'' in my playthrough, that was a big dissappoint to me. Thank you for taking your time recording and uploading the full soundtracks, you have my suscription and support. PD: ¿Can i ask for the unreleased version of the second race betwen wolf Atreus and Angrboda in a fox?, i loved that soundtrack since his apparition in the first trailer.
And how did the lack of full-fledged themes in the official, released separately, soundtracks, prevent you from listening to FULL-fledged themes in the game itself during your playthrough???????
You turn them against me, you turn them all against me. Glettings BARA!! Why did you do that? What was it all for? You choose to be nothing!!? Aaaaaaaahh!!!
7:27-7:53 💯Best part of the phase can't change my mind💯 🔥The choir backing up the fight and you're facing off against a man that now has nothing to lose, and throws everything he's got🔥 Edit: and I don't know why but I keep hearing "Sofna Odin's souuul" "Set the realms free nowwww" It sounds beautiful 😭😭❤️❤️
In case you were curious, the lyrics there are “Sortnar goda sol, ragnarokin naer”. Means “Twilight of the gods, Ragnarok is near”. Should’ve been Ragnarok is HERE lol
This theme is the best in this game without a doubt, tbh it's the 2nd best theme in the Norse mythology games. Baldur's theme is still the best to me overall.
I really love the bit at 9:16, it's sad but in a way that represents all of the people that Odin has manipulated and killed and finally they are getting justice.
"Your own son!? Your granddaughter!? Why!?" "Thrud's going to be fine. I saved her. And Thor... That's one's on you. You turned them against me. You turned them all against me!" Bastard can't even take the blame himself for killing his own son.
@@o-ng5t69 Thanks! I really like the new first phase of the track they added from 2018's version. And the choir coming in when the heal up, too... this game's music is just so good.
This Was Our Chance Loki I Could Have My Answers I Could Have Learned The Truth We Could Have Made The Nine Realms Better This Was Never About The Realms Or Me It Was About You You Destroyed Everything My Home My Family My Kingdom You Did Those Things Your Choices You Killed Your Own Son It Wasnt My Choice I Had No Choice There’s Always A Choice You Have To Stop You Can Choose to Be Better No I Cant I Have To Know What Happens Next I Will Never Stop
I love how the music is like a melody of a mix of other gods themes jaja but like its the original one is cool cus that make the all father stuff more unic jajaj. But i still like Thor theme more
the wish the fight swas more cinematic and destructive, like kratos sent flying through the asgard walls by thor,or fighting on them, there was so much potential ,MORE COLLATERAL DAMAGE would have been better, its a fight between 3 fucking strongest gods anyways.
I noticed towards the end after the battle Atreus points that out, but I saw him shoot (I assume Muninn) and Freya snapped Huginn’s neck. Continuity error perhaps?
My gripes with Ragnarok are to do with Odin I can't lie. I think he's a brilliant interpretation, possibly my favourite aside from AC Valhalla. But... 1. The boss fight was a bit easy, i did it on give me no mercy and died about 3 times. I think he takes too much time between attacks ngl. Perhaps I should try gmGoW. 2. That mask. Too many questions around it. Ragnarok is THE END of Asgard, questions after it make it feel insignificant. Also, Odins drive for it. Conveniently at the end of the first phase he says only the champion can look in to the rift (maybe bad writing? Maybe another lie? The writers seem to use "prophecy isn't fixed" etc as an excuse for retcons and plotholes a lot in this game.) I don't understand why Odin wants the knowledge still, Ragnarok is at his doorstep nothing can change that, no knowledge can prevent his death at Ragnarok. Perhaps itll tell him what will happen after he dies but that defeats the point, he's dead he's lost the control he seeks. Odins entire reason for existing, his drive, is to seek knowledge to not die at Ragnarok. But if Ragnarok is happening, and only Loki can look into the rift (completely not mentioned until the final battle btw) then what is the point?
I, too, like that part. Freya throwing atreus. The end mirroring baldurs fight, beating him and giving him one final chance to stop before delivering the final judgment as well. This happens with Gna, too.
