I train with a trackman and this is what I work on. It looks so easy when you do it. The way I understand this i that the movement of the arm when you get into the P6 position will make the hips open, not the opposite. A young pro had me do this, what he calls . For a reason , it is not easy to retrain your brain and proprioception.

Hey, thanks for the comments. Yeah, I love TrackMan. I have one myself and use it in all my lessons. But you're exactly right: as this club is prepped into this position, the hips should be open, and it just creates great separation and a lot more consistency. It can be tricky. I'm glad you say I make it look easy-I've worked on it a lot.

I’m working on this same thing with my coach at Roe Valley now. I’m now barred from watching RU-vid videos of possible reasons why I can’t do the drills 😂 Great to see this video as it cements what we’re doing and gives me a couple of extra thoughts to help bring it all together.

Thanks for a really great video. What you're trying to achieve and how to achieve it was really well explained. Breaking it down into different parts will make it easier to practice and build on as it becomes more familiar. I'm trying to cure an over the top swing and this is definitely going to help. Thank you!

The difficulty for me to understand, is on the takeaway the club head is outside the hands, and then I feel I need to perform a bit of a loop 🔁, to get it inside the hands pre impact.. it makes 100% sense what you explained from club parallel to ground pre impact.. maybe I should start my swing from that position, and forget about the takeaway 🥹
@dlgolftips
@dlgolftips 9 месяцев назад
Thanks Stephen. For the drill yes hit shots from that position. That loop feeling you describe is actually the down swing shallowing and for a lot of people it can feel like a bit of a loop, that’s ok. But if you think about it most golfers swing inside on the way back and over the top on the downswing which is also a loop but a loop in the wrong direction. Does that make sense?

I shank alot of shots trying to work on this. Any suggestions?
@dlgolftips
@dlgolftips 16 часов назад
Hi Jeff. Yes indeed. What you'll want to check for is in that last parallel position that your lead arm, if you imagine looking at your swing from down the line, isn't too far out towards the ball. You'll want to really feel like that is quite close to your body. It's quite common to shank it if that arm gets too far away from your body. Without seeing the swing it is hard, but from experience of people trying this, that's usually the cause.

@@dlgolftips I’ve also incorporated the noodle drill to stop my hands going towards the ball and away from my body which doesn’t help with an over the top swing. Trying to get the sensation that my lead hand is brushing my thigh on the downswing

How does this position change with driver when hitting up? new video on this?
@dlgolftips
@dlgolftips 9 месяцев назад
Great question and yes definitely for another video but the body will be in adifferent position for sure but the actual clubhead, face angle etc will be the same. Just for example if you can see on the thumbnail for this video (I know it’s small) but that’s Hovland with a driver and the clubhead position is the same. ⛳️

Audio was a bit off here. Can you get in deeper in how to turn the hips? I feel like mine are turning to fast
@dlgolftips
@dlgolftips 9 месяцев назад
Yeah attached my mic in a different place and didn’t works as well, sorry about that. It’s unlikely they are turning to fast, more than likely turning to soon or the Clubface is open and the turning of the hips doesn’t match that Clubface. This drill should help though. I’m going to do a few videos on hip turn in the downswing for sure ⛳️

@dlgolftips
@dlgolftips 8 месяцев назад
Hi Jamie thanks for the comment, yes in terms of the Clubface and clubhead position but the body is in a slightly different position, it will be more behind the ball as we aren’t looking to hit down on it like the iron. Does that make sense?

This is a great drill but if you’ve been swinging over the top for 20 years with an open club face at pre delivery position, I am struggling to even get this small move right. The body just doesn’t know how to move it’s amazing….
@dlgolftips
@dlgolftips 8 месяцев назад
Hey Edwin thanks for the comment. Yes can be tricky to undo habits. One thing I would say is that sometimes people will struggle to get into this position if the grip is to weak (both hands to far around to the left) experiment with making the grip stronger (more to the right) then try and achieve this position 👌⛳️
@edwinhoi9088
@edwinhoi9088 8 месяцев назад
@@dlgolftips Thanks for the reply! My grip is actually more neutral and my right hand is strongish so yeah is not the grip. The issue is my shoulders from years and years and years of hitting the ball from an open club face that really promoted that shoulder spinning out OTT swing. The first few time i tried this drill i both shanked my 7iron and duck hooked it 45 degrees to the left. And when i do get it more from the insider, low point control is non existent - trying your “ipad” drill would have resulted in me smashing every single one of them. So anyone who is struggling with this, you are not alone!
