The All-New 2023 Nissan Z Live Walkaround & Review 

I like the lines, it reminds me of the old S-30 chassis. But I am not sure about the price point at 40k USD. I mean the 300ZX was 43k USD back in the 90s and they struggled to move them. The Twin turbo engine while is nice, the maintenance may only increase the cost to own the car. As for handling and everything else, I reserve my opinion on that till I drive one. The support for aftermarket modifications is another selling point. I mean they made a huge deal out of the Z33 and it was a cow compared to the S30 and S130 chassis. So this new 400z or just Z35. I am hopeful but Nissan is struggling to get back to what they once were. Nissan was the King of rear wheel drive imports. 300zx(Z32) 240sx(S-13/14) 240sx Hatch "180sx"(RPS-13). And the old Nissan Hardbody pickup. Nissan was about the joy of driving... Now.. now it is about the CVT and technology that can be crammed into a car.

Just the fact that the car is available is the most exciting part. Unfortunately, what overshadows my excitement is the poor roll out of this car. Dropping fragmented information about the car during an official launch is not ideal. After last nights launch there shouldn't be a question about this car, except should I put a deposit down or just wait for it to become available at the dealer. Instead I'm here wondering things like what are my color options, weight, pricing, available options, performance times. I barely know what the car sounds like. I think your marketing team needs to look to GM and how they handled the C8 launch and their coming Z06.

By far, most exciting part is the re-emergence of the 3.0 twin turbo... and sticking with a true manual transmission. Also, very happy that it's not overwhelmed by a bunch of unnecessary swoops and fake vents - looking at you, BMW Supra. At a glance, it looks like a true driver's car - just like my Z32.

@@louhodo5761 Price is actually in a decent place at $40k to start. You've gotta account for inflation, man - $40k in the 90s is $70-80k now. As long as it's cheaper than the Supra, it will win. Also, you can stop calling it the 400Z now, that wasn't ever a thing, no matter how much Z1 wanted it to be.

I am not in love the the back. Everything else looks great. It's been a while since I owned a Z. I had a 2004 black 350z enthusiast.

GM is killing the Malibu in 2023, the Spark is turning into a crossover in 2023 and that will be 8 Chevrolet SUVs. Buick is ALL SUVs and Cadillac has two cars, for now. Ford killed off the Taurus, the Fusion, the Focus, the Fiesta, has 8 SUV models and made the Mustang AN ELECTRIC SUV so who is kidding who?

@@blockin9556 I didn't notice them mentioning electronic steering. I am not a racecar driver but I hear the benefit of electronic steering is that there is no power steering fluid to boil, so the steering will stay consistent during multiple hard laps.

@@LayzeLyfe Power steering very rarely overheats. I think you ment brakes? The big advantage of electric power steering is no need for hydraulic equipment leading to more efficiency and the ability to configure it more in things like drive modes. The major downside compared to hydraulic power steering is the loss of feel do to the direct mechanical linkage being severed as there is no true hands to front tires connection.

Whats the point if they never make them or get them into the dealerships? I sell cars for Nissan and drove a Z for 20 years. We have still never even got one yet at our dealership. (As of 11/20/2022) They need to increase production.

@@michelecapucci7840 Someone a little jelly lol. GTRs are pretty affordable sweetheart, they're $60ishK for a used GTR. It's not a lambo lol. My Super Duty F250 truck was $70k, I could have gotten a GTR too, shoot i mean even a Nissan Titan Crew Cab is $70k lol as are a majority of brand new trucks and trucks are everywhere! Work hard. Stay in school, get your degree, get a good job and upgrade your car...you're a female so I'm assuming you prolly got a Miata or a brz and get yourself one too 👍

The 90's Nissan 300ZX is amazing and so is the Skyline but they have not set the bar sorry. Toyota has more cars, Supra, Celica GT4, MR2, and their reliability is hands-down better, TOYOTA wins. Mazda is good, many cars are good not just Toyota.

Yeah never made sense to me to call it 400. I think this might mean there is a 4 cylinder version coming eventually, which is good!

I was hoping that they would have went with the JDM name and called it the Fairlady Z, which makes more sense seeing as how each Z generation in Japan was known as the Fairlady Z.

They weren't calling it a 400 because of the horsepower XD. all the z cars are named after the liters in there cars. 370Z is 370, because its got a 3.7 liter engine. 300zx has a 3.0 liter engine. 4.0 liter

Toyota said that IF the Zupra sells well in the next 5 yrs (which they are not currently and they WONT now because of this Z) that they were going to actually invest in making their own MKVI Supra with an upgraded inline 6 twin turbo and a ground up re-design as they did from the MKIII to the MKIV ... The problem is that Nissan now put their wrench into that mix so i presume Toyota will not be building that Supra ...

Yup. Starting at $40,000 (USD). Dealership markups can range from an extra $5,000 to $10,000. Expect around 45,000-50,000 out the door for the base model.

I'm a Supra guy, real supra not BMW built. Doesn't this engine have aftermarket turbo upgrades on the market already? Tuning etc?

@@shadyshinichi2JZ Yes, tunes, heat exchangers, intercoolers, occ’s, bov’s, injector’s, fuel pumps, ethanol kits, turbo upgrades etc…….. are already on the market for Q50/60 the vr30ddtt has been out since 2016. There are 600 + hp Q’s on the streets now. Nah I don't think so. The Fairlady name probably will still going to be exclusive for Japan. The Same way the Skyline name is. (infiniti Q50 and its predecessor is actually called Nissan Skyline in Japan)

If you understood the lineage or legacy of this car you would know that it was never going to be called the 400z.

@@ninemilli1610 I'm guessing you're associating the number with engine displacement? That hasn't been the case since the very first 240, which was initially a 2 liter, same goes with the 280, which was available in multiple engine displacements while all still being called 280. Absolutely nothing wrong with calling the Z35 a 400Z...

Because they were all named after displacement not horsepower so it would of been 300z again because 400 wouldn't follow that lineage. Also tying the name to hp would be more confusing when higher hp variants like nismo arrive.
