At Fillmore East is a double live album by The Allman Brothers Band. The band's breakthrough success, At Fillmore East was released in July 1971. It ranks Number 49 among Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Enjoy in the southern mix of rock, blues and jazz.
You Don't Love Me ( Willie Cobbs )
You don't love me, pretty baby,
you don't love me, yes I know.
You don't love me, pretty baby
you don't love me, yes I know.
Well if you leave me, pretty baby
don't you know you're gonna hurt me so.
Well I'm gonna tell my mother,
I'm gonna talk to my father too.
Well I'm gonna tell my sweet mother,
I'll have a word with my father too.
Well I'm gonna tell everybody,
what those young girls will do to you.
Goodbye now, pretty baby,
if I don't see you no more.
Lord, goodbye now, pretty baby,
if I never see you no more.
Well if you think I'll be your fool, Lord,
you better be on your merry way.
Duane Allman -- lead guitar, slide guitar
Gregg Allman -- organ, piano, Vocals
Dickey Betts -- lead guitar, Vocals
Berry Oakley -- bass guitar
Jai Johanny Johanson -- drums, congas, timbales
Butch Trucks -- drums, tympani
This is property of The Allman Brothers Band!

Absolutely brilliant. The way these two guitar geniuses complement each other is astonishing. The rhythm section just cooks and sizzles. Gregg delivers vocals that are as good as it gets. The band is tight as a drum: just listen to when the percussion stops - on the dot. Amazing song, amazing album, amazing musicians, a gift to us all.

My very favorite Allman Brothers song. I’ve been grooving to that song since I was 12 years old. Never gets old, just keeps getting better, like a fine wine. In memory of Elizabeth Reed, Whipping Post, One way out, Not my cross to bear and so many others are incredible (particularly on this album) none is quite as majestic as this. This is simply a near 20 minute ride to space thru nirvana and back to earth with a crescendo. Magnificent as it is majestic.

Took me a while to appreciate the genius. I was solid rock, heading into hard rock, acid rock, metal. Hated anything that smacked of country with a passion. But I recognized that this was interesting, intriguingly different. Still didn't like it, but I knew it was going to pull me back for another listen. It was a learning process for me. Same as with Gentle Giant. That's horrible! That's just a mess! I love Gentle Giant and the Allman Brothers now. I had to learn to recognize genius.

Even the 2 album cover pics are classic. This was taken in an alley in Macon, Georgia . Jim Marshall was the photographer and just couldn't get the right pic. They take 5, Duane sees his dope dealer and runs across the street to score. Marshall is unaware of this, and Duane runs back, takes his place ( his hands hiding the stash), and all the other guys are laughing. Bingo !!! The money shot. If this isn't true, it's a helluva story !!!

Duane Allman was a badass! One of the greatest guitarists ever... And to think he played this brilliantly and magically on this live record, and on Derek and The Dominos, between the ages of 21-23 years old, is nothing shy of mind-blowing! I've heard some amazing guitarists in my time, such as Terry Kath, Steve Howe, Alex Lifeson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Pete Townsend, Eric Clapton, Frank Zappa, etc. etc. etc., but Duane was absolutely up there, at the very top of the list, with the best of them! And he did something with that Les Paul that no one else could ever replicate or duplicate. Magic.

+JAMES HIGGINS : As a guitarist myself, I must agree. Dickey had the swang thang, southern rock, and rock genres' all mixed together. Altogether, one of the best and most highly underrated guitarists of all time. And since I'm on the subject (which I'm not, really), I would like to encourage guitar slingers out there everywhere to be yourself. Don't try to be SRV. He's already been the best that he ever could have been. And trying to copy him, or others, will get you nowhere fast. Find your own style. That's what all of these former and current musicians have done. Sure, you can take a little part here, and a bit from there, but make it your own. And that's all I have to say.

There has never been a band like this ever nor will it appear again. Everything lined up perfectly for this band to give us the most amazing music ever laid down. Classical aside no rock band from rock to country had the "gift" this band had. Duane was the most amazing guitar player, Dickey was no slouch either. Duane had the fire, the inner flame while Dickey had the control and the musical knowledge. No duo ever will reach the level of interplay they had. Berry, the best. He had a solid approach that pushed this band to the highs it acheived in any given jam. Gregg Butch Jaimoe, amazing rhythm section. This is only band that after 30 years of listening can produce the emotions I felt when I first heard them. Jaw dropping goosebumps. Blast it as loud as your speakers can and soak up that sweet, sweet Gibson sound..

Perhaps the best cut, from perhaps the best live album ever recorded. The soloing moves beyond brilliance, and I still get chills hearing Gregg's organ build into the finale, just before "Joy to the World". Will never tire of listening to this masterpiece. God bless all the Brothers!

I think one of the main things that set Duane apart from all other guitar players, and this applies to slide guitar and regular guitar, was his crystal clear and perfect intonation. Not to mention his fabulous tone, with out the gimmicks, pedals, etc. that other players used. Then there is his dynamics, and touch.... unparalleled in my opinion. I play a little, and every time I listen to this, since it came out eons ago, I am blown away. Truly, a once in a lifetime genius!

It's amazing that all of the best music was made 40 & 50 yrs ago. And it still stands the test of time. My favorite song ever is Boz Scaggs and Duane Allman on 'Loan Me a Dime'. Duane's guitar playing in that song alone inspired me to buy my own electric guitar and learn to play. I also share middle names with Howard Duane Allman. Yea, my daddy is the biggest ABB fan on this planet. Slightly bigger than me lol. I grew up in the 80s listening to vinyls of the Brothers, Jethro Tull, Jeff Beck, etc...but mostly ABB. So they were a huge influence on me. TBH, growing up, I hated my middle name. I didn't understand how important Duane is to Southern Rock & rock music in general. I knew he was a great guitarist but I didn't get it. Well I finally get it now, at 38 years old, and I couldn't be prouder to share middle names with the greatest guitar player to ever live. ❤️ YOU, SKYDOG! Oh yea, I just bought my first glass slide yesterday, a Dunlop Derek Trucks Signature medicine bottle. Yes, I'm learning that, too. 😁🤘🎸❤️

What an amazing time. When the best rock and roll came from about a five or six year spread- This double set, Blind Faith, Derick & The Dominos, The Band, Youngbloods,Ten Years After, Canned Heat,Clapton, Dr. John, Neil Young, on and on ....... all in a few brief years. What a great time to experience (Hendrix) and be old enough to know what you were hearing was truly history in the making. !!!!!!
