My instructor Alan Dawson always said you should always be "tight but loose" when you play this kind of material. I've heard this song all my life but never physically played it BUT I WILL MONDAY night. Thanks for taking the mystery out of it and playing it brilliantly straight and relaxed. I've gotten to know the song very well the last two nights and I'm ready for Monday. Just goes to show a 62-year-old rock drummer can still kick it. Thanks, Steve.
I enjoyed listening to Butch Trucks explain how he plays this, but actually got more from your version. The camera angle was a big factor in that. I believe his was overhead.
No one covers this right including myself. The time signatures are so odd and vary throughout the arrangement. This is probably the best I have ever heard this covered. Very nice.
Wow, thanks for your enthusiastic support and for subbing my channel. I haven't recorded any covers in quite a while. I'll get back to it soon. Thanks again!!!
Whew!!! Panting over here finger playing along.lol!!!! Dayam Son!!!!!? Got GOOSEBUMPS HEYAH!!!! WICKED!! I guess that's like a souped but 3/4 time?? Loved This, THX!!👍🍻🍀
Thanks for posting.. stealing a few ideas. Played this covering both drum parts since 1973ish. Never thought to play the 11/8 section just straight waltz style on snare. Always swung the snare backbeat just like the 12/8 sections. Gonna try that
Steve found you a couple days ago your so spot on, tried to find you playing (Cheap Sunglasses) I play it on RU-vid would really like to see how to play it correct, you are so relaxed anyway like to see your version. Thanks
Thank youj!! The secret ride (LOL!) is a 22" Zildjian K Constantinople--it's signed by Keith Carlock too!!! If you don't know him, look him up. He's a world class drummer.
Hi, my name is Guto and I'm from Brazil, your RU-vid videos are wonderful! Could you do a drum cover of the song Black Started Woman by The Allman Brothers?
I love your groove. but I cant figure the beat you are doing, is there a pattern I can find on music that you have or any other advise to learn it. Thanks
Ted Ayers ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MNGQudbM3OQ.html Butch does a great job explaining on layman's terms about dynamics, expression, the 12/8 verse, the 6/8, and his new (at the time) revised take on it. It's helpful...
