Dude, you got to drive the BMW M135i/M140i or an M235i/M240i. It's a good 80% the performance capability of the M3, but half the price. The M lites I also feel are better "on the road" daily drivers, slightly softer and more road friendly suspension setup, but they can get away with it as they are around the 1400kg tare mass. The N55 & B58 3.0L inline 6 engines have loads of after market support. I currently own a 2016 BMW M135i 8 Speed, with a tare mass of 1380kg and around 400hp/600Nm crank. According to data logs I am doing a 4.2 - 4.3 second 0 - 100 on good rubber very consistently, although with loads of wheel spin. Most of all its just awesome to drive, it feels tight and connected, and a lot smaller than the F80 M3. I really do like the F80 M3, but I can't justify buying one even second hand over a second hand M135i/M140i as you are getting almost the same daily drive experience and 80% of the performance which can be easily increased to match in the after market. The is a reason why BMW killed off the M140i, too many people were buying the far better value M lites over the whole hog M3 and M2.

4 seconds 0-100 seems very optimistic. Seems to have the same traction issues like all the other RWD cars being the falcons, commys, mustangs etc.

Looks good and goes hard obviously but I wouldn't be touching this thing with a 40 foot pole. As with European cars their value plummets, parts are expensive, generally its workshops that deal exclusively with European makes that repair them and those shops will charge more due to the equipment needed to work on them as well as the specialist staff. And if you're looking at modifying them then I hope you have deep pockets. It won't be much of a collectors car in years to come either, in Europe it would be a different story, id rather Monaro, GTHO, WRX, EVO, GTR etc. A very good review nonetheless!!

Now you just need to review the e36 M3 and you have done them all. It is a weapon of a car, but of the F series, my pick would be a M2 Competiton for the looks. 4 door M3 for the kids.

I had an M3 pure (331kw)for 3 years and never quite got used to how fast it was. It could certainly bite hard if driver aids switched off. Great car.
