If I'm being honest I think that's the whole point of Culling. I feel like this is the directors vision on the telling of a cosmic horror. I also feel like the director was heavily influenced by the lighthouse. This was really well done in my opinion. It's hard finding really good lovecraftian cinema so all credits and respect to all who were involved in that process. Alter horror always kills it.
Up until now, "Posies" is the one that left me speechless. Definitely worth for a rewatch. Beautiful scenery, somber atmosphere, perfect choice of music and... the awesome lead actress that made me feel every emotion. SPOILERS AHEAD: Perhaps, if she confessed every mistake/sin instead of being shady her whole life, she wouldn't have turned into a monster.
Great movies, especially Culling! The censoring in all of the movies was weird and made it difficult to stay in the moment. I'm sure there's a good reason for it but it's not amazing
I'm a straightforward person who often does not catch deeper meanings in things. If anyone wants to explain Culling to me, I'd appreciate it. *** Spoilers for Culling below... *** I think I have figured out that the bits with the kids is a flashback. The older boy is the man we see chopping wood later. He went back out to help his brother, who their dad left in the field to starve, but he broke his leg in the well and his brother died in the acid rain. I'm assuming the cow talks to him because he is insane by this point, but I have no idea what the circle of light in the flashback is. It also makes no sense for the dad to not keep the cow in the house or at least in some kind of shelter. But I guess everything is pointless if there is acid rain and they cannot grow crops anymore. But honestly, with the amount of time that has passed since the flashback, I would have expected everyone to have died of starvation anyway. Not sure how there is still wood around to burn either. So I think I may be viewing this too logically and missing "the point". Although it obviously kept me thinking about it, which is a trait of good story telling. Interested to hear other takes on the story. Thanks.
sorry not new but maybe 1ST X seeing for you .Sometimes A Book, Story, movie or Alter Shorts are worth watching more than once ,twice, etc .I blew up the End of the 1st x one Banshee = Nefarious Nature saw something i missed watching 3x prior .Enjoy
Thank you ALTER for such wonderful movies although i have watched a few already. Banshee is a complex storyline and I couldn't see the actual monster of the movie. It reminded me of the TV movie "Dissappearance". Devil woman was awesome kind of had the Green Inferno vibe, where a group of nature lovers are slaughtered by the nature itself. The howling wind is a surreal horror movie; it doesn't have monsters or demons, but the suspense could have been much better
Dude with the chainsaw is perfectly casted, haha, genuinely a threatening figure, bet he’s chill in real life tho, well done casting everyone!! I love you Alter heart❤
oh, I think I watched another banshee story , black mirror I think. awsome story, really liked this one well done. gonna watch the rest ;) thank uuu alter
Si estuviera subtitulada en español tendría más mérito,de todas maneras aunque adivinando lo que decian,me pareció entretenida, gracias por compartirla
The first one looks like the intro of a movie. Stopping now means to me; "make your own movie..." so; i wanted more of the story. Hope the rest is better. There we go...
One definite thing I can say about these types of stories, good or bad, they are all well done. These were nicely done all that's needed now is for some of these to have a bit more depth and a continuance for some of the stories. Maybe not sequels, but more encounters and episodes, leading up to something cosmic or larger, maybe. If you wanted you could tie these shorts together, and build up to a larger event or creature. Sounds silly, but a lot of the spirit stuff also reminds me of ancient societies that may have existed millions of years ago, societies of cannibal humans, primitive groups and types that the more commonly found Neanderthal may have interacted with, possibly either having died off or being reproduced with so much as to have their genetic decendants amalgamated into one or two types of human. The subconscious inspiration for vampires and werewolves, and many of the monsters that have human traits or forms. Lol sorry for the long comment, I am just a big mind loving the stuff these short stories inspire and
In the last one when the old man shot the young man there was a quick view of the young man's nasty left arm, except it wasn't nasty then, it was back to normal. Is this an error on the filmmakers' part or is there another explanation for this?
I have a theory, there’s an infection outside and the radio hints the infected are violent, maybe paranoia is how they are drove to violence and the old man is now infected, probably hallucinating and suspecting the young man leading to a fight which is why they laugh at the end as they realise they are both f***cked.
Why would you hate someone trying to understand what they saw, merely because it’s a fictional story? Fiction or not, the point is entertainment. Of course we all want to understand what we see and hear…
@@lovelynika Do you? It doesn’t mean “incomprehensible”. Not all fiction needs to be some Lynchian absurdist nightmare. Also what does that have to do with this anthology? ..you didn’t catch that this is a collection of multiple short films and not just one single narrative, did you? Oh, how the turn tables..
loved the devil woman the nerdy girl remind of a girl i dated back in my teens in high school she dressed all homely wore glasses and all that but was really really pretty so i dolled her up one morning before school then all the other guys wanted o say was up to her before i hooked her up she looked like the girls from the movies carrie and ginger snaps yes she dressed tha homely but very good looking.
