Here's what introduced me and my brother (Billdeco08) to the Alvin and the Chipmunks franchise, when Nickelodeon reran the 1961 prime-time animated series "The Alvin Show" in 1994-1995. When they did, they plastered the Nickelodeon logo onto the opening sequence wherever possible, very similar to what they did with "Rocky and Bullwinkle," "Pinky and the Brain" and "Animaniacs." They would also cut one of the two musical numbers in each episode (to make room for more commercials, obviously). But it was still a great way to see the old series, and a great introduction to the Chipmunks!
Sadly in 1995, Nickelodeon removed nearly all pre-1980s animated shows from their lineup (with the exceptions of "Looney Tunes" and "Gumby," even though the latter showed the 1980s redubs of the older episodes), and this one was taken off the air as well, and hasn't been rerun anywhere ever since.
