My husband is a type 2 diabetic. He takes 300mg of benfotiamine a day and 200mg of Thiamine twice a day. Also magnesium, zinc, Bcomplex and choline. At his latest test his A1C was 5.9 (prediabetic range) and he is no longer on any insulin or diabetic meds. He has modestly cut carbs but still is quite carb heavy. Benfotiamine was a game changer.
Nutritional yeast is a great way to add b vitamins into food you're already eating. It's cheap, it smells like cheese, has only a mild cheese flavor and can be sprinkled on or mixed with almost anything. I add a tablespoon a day to at least one meal sometimes two and since I also cut way down on carbs, i don't have peripheral neuropathy anymore unless I over eat desserts around holidays. I also got my diabetes under control and don't need medication for it anymore after going low carb and losing 100 pounds. Anyway, if he's still having issues or wants b vitamin variety, look into nutritional yeast, you can get a tub of flakes relatively cheap and you only need a tablespoon or two a day.
Since I started taking 600mg of benfothiamine divided in two 300mg doses + 3gm of NAC per day, I have noticed profound improvements in my neuropathy esp in my feet. I’m T2 by the way
That's great. Also add in R-ALA, methylcobalamin, folate, Acetyl L Carnitine and Berberine and that should get you the rest of the way home. Blessings.
I have been listening to health podcasts for Years and first came across Benfotiamine on a podcast by EO nutrition on RU-vid. It was also discussed in relation to POTS. Takes years for this valuable information to become mainstream. Thank you for the podcast.
POTS stands for: Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. This syndrome is usually triggered when a person stands up after lying down. Symptoms include lightheadedness, fainting, and rapid heartbeat, which can be relieved by lying down again.
@@NerveDoctors my 11 yo has severe POTS. Although the heartrate decreases when you lie down and you are less likely to faint, most people with POTS have severe chronic symptoms no matter their position sadly. I have my child on benfotiamine because of this but only 80mg. I guess I'm not giving her enough at all! We also do methylcobalomin shots.
Could this possibly help with schwanomas which are on some orbital nerves? I truly am very grateful for your knowledge which you are sharing with us all. I have a daughter which has had schwanomas removed. However, this was done by a wonderful Dr. at John Hopkinns. His surgery was exploratory as the schwanomas were not being picked up on the MRI's. Could you share with me why some schwanomas are not picked up on MRI'S and would the information you shared help with her nerve pain?
I'm just on my 3rd day on Benfo.. I'm diabetic and have neoropathy. Lasy year I took ALA and it healed my numbness in my foot.. I stop for a year now because of financial difficulties.. and the numbness return and I'm always suffering from numbness and on the verge of falling down if I don't grab anything I could hold on . I hope I can do some walking again after taking Benfo.. been afraid to do walking for a year now. I just do exercises for neuropthy via RU-vid. Thanks for enlightening us on how useful Benfo for diabetic person. God bless you
Benfotiamine, very specific and researched thoroughly. The associated vitamin supplements included will help patients heal remarkably! This is the best presentation discovered that can help anyone recover from a toxic diet. Thank you Doctor!
@@christinekapinos722 You should take it daily. I get the Mega Benfotiamine from Life Extension. I take 600mg a day. 300mgs in the am and 300mgs in the pm. I will now add the supplements she recommends also. I've been out for a few months now and I hurt everywhere. I have type 2 diabetes and I can feel thd neuropathy badly. Benfotiamibe can also cross into the brain barrier because it's fat soluble.....good for our brains!!
Thank you for this video. I am a diabetic and I have low red blood count and was have a tough time healing wounds. I bought some Benfotiamine and I am taking it twice a day. Within a week I started healing up. Thanks again.
I was taking 150mg twice a day. I bought a new bottle that is 300 mg so only take 1 every morning. I also had low red blood count before I started taking Benfotiamine . I go back to the docs next month for update.
I take benfotiamine, alpha lipoic acid and vitamin D every day. I can definitely tell the difference in my neuropathy in my feet when I occasionally forget to take my supplements.

Hello Doctor! You are definitely one of the finest and caring person. I have yet to see another Doctor on RU-vid answering as many questions as you do to your followers, obviously I have become one of your loyal fans. I am getting blisters on my fingers non stop, diabeticorum ., I am a long time diabetic who was an alcohol abuser. Obviously, peripheral neuropathy to almost final stage on my fingers and toes. Amputated my right toes few months ago. I see connections of my blisters with diabetes and nerves damage. Is there a solution for treatment? Sadly I live in Indonesia, not in the States. Otherwise will jump on a consultation in a heartbeat! Thanks in advance and apologize for being lengthy!
Hi Stanley. Thank you so very much for your kind words. It means so much to us and thanks for being a LOYAL FAN!! Now, let's address your question because you certainly need guidance. Yes, there's absolutely a solution and we certainly want to make sure you don't lose any more digits or limbs for that matter. Usually, when I see diabetes of this nature (bullous diabeticorum) it's because the glucose levels have run awry with little to no control. The fact that you consumed copious quantities of alcohol would certainly play a significant role. BTW...BIG CONGRATULATIONS for giving up the alcohol! That is no easy task and you should be very proud of yourself. So, the first and most important thing is to lower your hemoglobin A1C and your glucose levels and maintain them at a healthy level. The best way you can do that is by following a ketogenic diet, as well as taking the following supplements berberine, and a good quality nerve support formula that contains R-ALA, B6 (in the form of Pyridoxal 5 Phosphate, B12 in the form of methylcobalamin, benfotiamine, folate (5-MTHF or Quatrefolic), L-citrulline and acetyl l carnitine. These supplements all have a ton of research studies showing that they can improve insulin sensitivity, decrease glucose levels and assist in nerve repair. Also, L-citrulline improves NO production to improve circulation and Acetyl L Carnitine has been proven to protect the nerves from further damage or limit the ongoing damage due to elevated glucose and any other neurotoxin your nerves may be exposed to. Because of the severity of your problem and the long-standing time frame, most likely you will also need to use photobiomodulation. I'm including a couple of links to my videos that you should watch will help you get a better understanding. 1. BTW, I have already watched most of your videos related and of course, all valuable knowledge not found elsewhere. You are such a wonderful Doctor sharing and caring. God's gift to this world! Many thanks!
@@NerveDoctors I got R-ALA , B6, B12, Benfotiamine, but are missing berberine, L-citruline and Acetyl L Carnitine. Which products and brands do you recommend for the ones im missing?
We need all of the B Complex..taking single ones may cause deficiencies in other ones. I was told years ago an Asuan doctor told me I had a B complex deficiency. My tongue was red & swollen. Then I figured out I have non celiac gluten sensitivity & absorption problems. Its a very complex subject. Thank you
Hi P Larkin. I agree with you that everyone (especially those not consuming a healthy, low -carb, well balanced diet) should take an overall B-Complex. However, when you're battling a neurological condition, a B-complex isn't going to do the trick because it will not contain the correct doses for nerve repair. Now, do I recommend still taking a B-Complex while taking a nerve support formula or additional Benfotiamine or methylcobalamin, absolutely. Thanks for sharing. Blessings.
If you take 600mg of benfothiamine a day, this is equivalent to about 2400mg thiamine. This huge amount of B1 will require some additional B vitamins (they work as a team) and magnesium. But you might not need this amounts of B1 - depends of the problem you have. You might need only B12 or B9 plus B12, always in their bioavailable forms. But you are right, it is very complicated. It took me years to aquire some basic knowledge so that I can help my two autistic grandsons. But it was worth learning.
Just wanted to let you know that taking Benfotiamine has increased my ability for hearing. The volume on TV needed to be as high as possible, but now it is 1/4 the previous volume.
My first time here to your channel and my oh my, you certainly have a way of presenting your knowledge. I sure wish I'd found you a loooong time ago. Thank you.
I have a simply most excellent neurologist doctor. - Dr. Monteire, I just changed a few years ago, and I visit her just once a while, I'm not in contact with her. But I just met you, through theY. T.Thank you for your detailed informations.
I’m so glad I landed on your channel dr I lost 40% of my hearing and I was fitting with the specialist that years ago I use to plug my ears at night before bed so nothing can wake me up as I was so sensitive to noise.. I saw some comments about it her and also dr burg mentioned it too.. I’m on it now and I hope 🤞🏼 it will make a difference. Just subscribed as you are very professional. Loved your energy. Thx
Just came across this video. Very informative. Like most of these types of video's, just wish they were more prevalent and as easy to find 15-20 years ago. Thank you for sharing. I put this up on social media I follow.
I have Hashimoto’s and the numbing in my arms and hands is concerning to me. Last night I felt burning and numbness. I have a B12 deficiency, but even with injections, the numbing is still there. I’m going to try Benfotiamine.
I do not suffer from diabetes..I suffer from tingling and burning in the body..and as you described my condition before, you told me your condition is mild..thank you..just a note. I just remind you that I have been using r alpha lipoic acid 600mg for a month and a half daily..and my improvement is slow One day I will be better, and one day I will be tired from tingling and burning in the body. What is the reason? ??
First, let me address the pain levels being up and down...this is normal as your nerve begin to heal. The symptoms will not steadily lessen daily. Here's an example of how pain levels decrease. Let's say your symptoms get as high as a 9/10 (10 being the highest pain level possible). As your nerves heal, one day your pain level may drop to a 7/10 for the day, but then the next 4-5 days it will be backup to a 9/10. Then 2 weeks later it may drop to a 6/10. This volley will go back and forth until there's been substantial repair in the nerve. Once there's been substantial repair then your symptom levels will drop and stay down and continue to decrease. Next, let me address your progress being slow...First, we know that nerves are the slowest healing tissue in the body and 1.5 months is not a long time. Even for mild neuropathy cases, it can take up to 8 months to 1 year before the nerve is healed. However, when I'm working with my patients, I never just place them on R-Alpha Lipoic Acid by itself. I always place them on a combination of R-ALA, Benfotiamine, Pyridoxal 5 Phosphate (B6), Methylcobalamin (B12), Folate , L-Citrulline and Acetyl L Carnitine. This combination, in therapeutic doses, will produce the best results. Watch my video: Vital Nutrients for Nerves. This will give you more information. Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wPruq49-ksU.html
This can also be a result of spinal-cord compression. You’ll experience burning, tingling, numbness, then weakness begins. You may wish to get a scan and eliminate this.
@@kirra7406 I underwent a neurological examination, neurosurgery twice..the result was normal. I did all the medical tests and vitamins B12 was also fine..I did an MRI on the brain and the neck was also fine..I don't know the cause of the tingling..until now..the tingling came to me when I only lowered the LDL cholesterol in my cheeks. My body..by changing food. ..and sports..and this is strange..

Hello professor Thank you so much for your help and advice, I really appreciate your job. I wish you happiness and peace under the sky of prosperity. All the best. Take care and have a good time. Your follower from Algeria.
Thanks, doctor for the great service you have provided for free. I really needed this important information and its cool the way you presented it so simply. May the blessings be.
I ordered 300mg for my husband who has been diagnosed as having the beginning stage of.Dementia. I wondered about the dosage for a 117 lb. .man who is still regaining his lost weight, due to colon cancer of several months ago. He is on no chemo or other meds, just supplements, D3 K2 zinc and synthetic B1. I just learned about the better type, which I would prefer. We eat healthy, but my husband has a sweet tooth, and he will not stop sweets. Grrrrrrrrr!
Benfotiamine is what i use for my parkinsons, it also stopped my palpitations and angina from my triple bypass!,,, taken with omega3 and B complex plus magnesium L threonate fabulous!
I have been taking around 100mg of Benfotiamine for a while now. I read where it can really help with motility. I have not experienced this yet. Wondering if I am taking a high enough dose.
Great info. I recently discontinued Gabapentin which was prescribed for nerve pain. It was adversely affecting digestive transit (MMC) which was creating a bigger problem than the nerve pain it was prescribed for. Am wondering if Benfotiamine can provide some of the same benefit that was provided by Gabapentin. I would certainly prefer to take Benfotiamine as opposed to Gabapentin if the Benfotiamine is helpful.
Have you started taking benfotiamin now? How is it?. I also stopped taking pregabalin, it makes me feel worst. I started taking b vitamins then I heard about this benfotiamin and about to start it but heard again about this TTFD .
I’m interested in whoever can answer your question. I am down to 300mg gabapentin a day, and plan on taking benfiotamine and the other stuff mentioned by this channel, soon. Point is I would like to stop taking gabapentin finally.
Hi Doc. I just want to really thank you for all your wonderful inputs on health issues. I have mornings when I wake up with numb hurting hands. I want to start taking this Benfotiamine but when I google it, so many brands show up and I don’t know which one to buy. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks Doc. Have a wonderful day!
Excellent videos thank you so much for this extremely valuable information. Since there are studies supporting their efficacy, are any of the nerve support supplements (r-ala, Benfo, etc.) available by prescription?
Hi Ian. You're very welcome and thank you for your kind feedback. OK- onto your question....thanks to Big Pharma's control...no these natural supplements are not available by prescription. Please don't let that deter you from a much, much safer alternative. Blessings.
Thank you for your helpful information on Benfotiamine and more detail on how much to take. I first heard about it through Dr Eric Berg, but I have learned more through you. I have suffered from bad circulation in my legs and getting worse in my ankles and feet. For years nobody can tell me what to about it except to wear compression hose that is absolutely no help.
If you're open to it, Google "legs up the wall pose" which is a form of yoga to help with circulation in the legs, as well as other benefits. If you can't do that, then being on the floor with your legs up on the bed will help too. I know of a woman who is in the advanced age in her early 90's who loves to have her legs up the wall, and does this daily. She worked herself up to 15 min. at a time so far, several times per day.
Thank you doctor for the well laid out explanation of the overall information. I search for 3 information sources typically and have to compliment you for such a thorough analysis. Blessings
Could this help with peripheral neuropathy from back surgeries? My husband has had about 6 back and neck and hip surgeries due to accident years ago. He suffers daily with nerve pain. He is healthy otherwise, no heart issues, no diabetes etc. Just nerve pain, non stop. Thanks! Great video by the way!
Thank you so much. Well, if the nerve pain is not due to scar tissue formation around the nerves, then it's quite possible. However, he will need more than just Benfotiamine. He'll need an entire nerve support formula. Hi raffa22 lozano, The average patients that we see are on 5 or more medications. Some are on as many as 15+ medications. Because of this we had to ensure that the ingredients in both formulas would work harmoniously with many, many different medications and they do. Both formulas are safe to take with your medication. I hope this helps!
I developed peripheral neuropathy about four years ago. I'm not diabetic. I'm curious if benfothiamine will help to actually restore the nerves and feeling in my feet and hands. Thanks for this video, it is very informative.

@TheNerveDoctor, Thank you for this very helpful information. Should all these suggested supplements be taken together on an empty stomach, between meals or with a snack or meal?? I know certain amino acids absorb best on empty stomach. I hope you receive this question. It's usually overlooked by doctor's unfortunately. Blessings 🥰
Hi Marsha. Benfotiamine is best taken with food and if you're taking all of the nutrients I listed in my video, "Vital Ingredients For Nerve Repair or if you're on our formula, Nuphoria cm Gold, we always recommend taking it with food. Hope this helps.
… hello doc- my sincere question is- what supplementation can benefit someone who is a sufferer of cerebral spinal fluid leakage?… also with bone spurs/osteoarthritis being a likely contributor(s) to the leakage problem?
Hi Joe. It's difficult for me to answer this question without knowing the cause of your CSF. Trauma? Injury? Spinal tap/lumbar puncture? Malformation of inner ear? Normally most leakages will heal on their own. Hydration is extremely important. In general, vitamins C and E has been shown to increase CSF levels and reduces CSF lipid peroxidation (this is caused by oxidants attacking your lipids). Hope this at least gets you off to a start. Blessings.
@@NerveDoctors … really appreciate your reply!… you’d mentioned “malformation”… this person had been diagnosed with “Arnold Chiaris Type II” and had a resultant surgical procedure for it years ago… also- she continues to complain to this very day of “discomfort” in her inner ear- and is actually having an appointment tomorrow morning with an ear specialist… me knowing this of her history- could you provide me with an advisement/suggestion for her that may be beneficial for the specialist to know/look into?… your knowledgeable experience/input in these things is surely appreciated!
Hi Johnny. Clinical studies have shown that these nutrients actually help with repair and regeneration of the damaged peripheral nerves. Along with that, I've been using them for 18 years on my patients with tremendous results. No, you don't have to be on them for the rest of your life. However, if you have a precipitating factor causing your PN like diabetes or if you're taking medications that cause Peripheral nerve damage like statins, calcium channel blocker (for blood pressure), diuretics, etc. Then I always recommend that my patients stay on a maintenance dose (which is half the amount) to prevent the PN from returning.
Did I hear you say that ice cream is pasteurized for "at least" 30 minutes? I looked that up and that's not true as far as I can research. The milk that goes into the ice cream is pasteurized for 15 seconds only. "The most common method of pasteurization in the United States today is High Temperature Short Time (HTST) pasteurization, which uses metal plates and hot water to raise milk temperatures to at least 161° F for not less than 15 seconds, followed by rapid cooling." With all due respect, I'm just wondering if you were inaccurate with respect to that fact, are there other facts you are not accurately reporting about also? AGEs form when proteins or lipids interact with aldose sugars for an extended period of time, subsequently undergoing molecular transformations that glycate the protein or lipid, thereby imparting distinct and likely maladaptive signatures in the blood vessel walls. An extended period of time does not mean 15 seconds. The milk would have to brown. So caramel lovers beware.
Please cite research when making claims. It would also be good form to include your educational background and expertise in your about. Viewers have no idea if you are an MD, PhD physician researcher versed in B1 biochemistry or a clinical psychologist. It matters.
So far everything she recommended is exceptionally correct. When she mentioned R-alpha lipoic acid, I paused the video and gave a thumb up. And today was my first day taking B1. I thought I have a Carpal Tunnel Sindrom. One pill and pain is gone. I had RALA on my list, but I'm waiting on my paycheck.
Your information is very valuable and helpful! HOWEVER, you speak so fast and your screen with the lists moves so fast, that it's very hard to follow you or take notes. Why not slow down? You really need to know that you are not speaking to medical students, you are speaking to average people, some of us are seniors, and your pace is way too fast to absorb without replaying the video a few times. Most important, just to take notes, is almost impossible when you gloss over the information in order to cram it in a short RU-vid moment. PLEASE, slow your information down so we can grasp it and take notes in order to help ourselves!
Thank you for your valuable feedback. We will certainly try and slow down. You can also use closed caption and pause the video so you can take notes. That’s what I do when watching videos.
I am in UK, i am prediabetic and have fibromyalgia i have horrible electric shock pains that travel through my body randomly day and night..and i also get buzzing feelings. I read up about Benfotiamine about a year ago and decided that it was worth a go..so i have taken 300mg daily ever since i actually get some days without the electric shocks now but if i stop taking it they come back full strength. I was nervous to increase the dose as a year ago there wasnt much info on Benfotiamine. Does it have any side effects from taking it long term?
My electric shock pains especially at night was completely gone after I started natural desiccated thyroid for my hypothyroidism. It's been years since I started thyroid but I added Benfotiamine recently.
Excellent video. Such great information! Thank you for taking the time to share this wonderful information. What a beautiful lady, such a joy to listen to and watch. Thanks for the great information. Wishing you peace health and happiness. ❤
Hi Doc. Great videos! Glad I found you!!! I have a simple question. I have Diabetes and Hypothyroidism. I take Jardance and NP Thyroid. I have started a mild onset of neuropathy in the bottoms of my feet. I want to take Benfotiamine and R-Alpha Lipoic Acid to stop the neuropathy before it advances. Is it possible to take them together? I’ve read the study about ALA interfering with the T4 to T3 production. I take the NP Thyroid first thing in the a.m. and Benfotiamine and ALA in the evening. What do you recommend?
Hi Jeff. First of all I applaud you for being pro-active. Given your diabetes and thyroid condition, you will need a more complete nerve support supplement. Watch these 2 videos: 1) Vital nutrients for nerve repair: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wPruq49-ksU.html 2) The Right Dose: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dKMPMPJM4JY.html You'll need all the ingredients I outline here at the doses I indicate, which is what's been established by clinical studies. Also, when taking R-ALA while on a thyroid medication, you must wait 4 hours after taking the thyroid medication before taking the R-ALA, so that it does not interfere with the meds. Lastly, it's important for you to follow a ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting. This will significantly help with your insulin resistance. Blessings.

Hello. Benfotiamine has been found to be beneficial in improving cognitive function and reduce amyloid deposition. Here is one study on the topic: bit.ly/417OUge I must note that this study was done using Thiamine, but I would not recommend thiamine for any of my patients with this disorder. The reason is that Thiamine is water soluble and will struggle to make it into brain neurons which is wrapped with a protective layer of lipids (fat). For that reason, Benfotiamine (a fat soluble B1) is necessary. Now, I must let you know that I would not rely on just Benfotiamine alone. I would also utilize R-ALA, Methylcobalamin, Pyridoxal 5 Phosphate, Folate and Acetyl L Carnitine. (Here's a link to my video on these: Vital Ingredients for Nerves (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wPruq49-ksU.html). Also, I would highly recommend Photobiomodulation (Healing nerves with light link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NNXDuFc5cHU.html). Let me know if you have any other questions. Could you share if it’s ok to take when you have high blood pressure? I’ve heard thiamine was good for rapid heart beat but read in comments it can cause rapid heart beat.
Hi Kris. To date, after researching this nutrient for many years, I have never come across ANY VALID research article that lists rapid heart rate with benfotiamine use. On top of that, we have our patients take 500 mg daily, in our nerve support formula and we've treated well over 15,000 peripheral neuropathy patients who have had significant cardiovascular disease and never had any problems. Hope this helps. Blessings.
