Love these videos. Thank you for bringing WW2 History back to life. My dad was a History teacher for 33 yrs. Specializing in WW2. He's now almost 80, and I love sharing these with him because he never got the chance to see these for real. My Grandfather(s) were both in WW2 and would rarely speak of it. My dad's dad was a survivor of D-Day. ......well, just thank you for being willing to exploring these important parts of our history too.
Of all the locations i've watched you explore, this one screamed deathtrap the most. Those access shafts are knarly. Holes everywhere. edit- Wait, maybe not.....
Well it has to be said ...You got dedication!! After watching you scrambling through the undergrowth and in and out of moldy concrete Jumbles you come across that great pit!!! Bloody hell...im certain that there are still areas of that huge construction that have not been touched since the fighting and are sealed off by Concrete slabs and tons of Earth and just about impossible to get to without taking your life in your Hands ..Cheers Tino for showing us this Pal
I just prepare the meal and watch your video on the big screen TV....and I'm enjoying it again....thanks for sharing.... ....tomorrow I will go with a friend to Liége to make a bunkertour by offroad motorcycles....
Well technically we are not allowed to metal detect there I just wanted to poke around, and it seems a lot of metal is in that ground... maybe ... off camera ... one day lol
It never fails to amaze me the apparent lack of period signage or graffiti within these ruins, but the copious ammount of modern grafitti that seems to cover, and spoil, even the smallest ruin. It is as if the advancing Russians quickly painted everything before blowing it up thereby totaly removing any sign of German habitation. Great video, keep them coming
Places like these need preserved not for remembrance of a era, but as a testimony to what man could do and achieve in fortifications that still after 80+ years are still standing? And where you find forts you will find a hole that’s meant to get those who are not watching where they step! Tino when you looked down the large tunnel where stairs used to be, I got vertigo as someone who has no head for heights, I felt myself going forward and broke out on a cold sweat. 😰😱
I may not have been to his many WWII bunkers as you have Tino but you don't see that every day bloody hell …..30+m drop straight down into what tunnels? man, I wish you'd had a rope ladder. Do you know what those tunnels are? where do they lead to? Do you have any plans but seeing you just as blown away as i was I guess not, Any chance of you doing a future exploration. you know I'm thinking about health and safety here so you’d think maybe pop a concrete lid over the top to stop people killing themselves but then we never have got WOW factor so glad they did not, You certainly wouldn't want to fall down that drop brother. I just got dizzy looking over the top through your camera lens. Tino, Goodman, this is one of the best documentaries I've seen for a while mate and is good all your documentaries are to date, this one of the best because it made me go wow? please reply and tell me what those tunnels are from and where do they lead to as I bet you know by now at least where they go etc???????????????????????? fantastic Tino..Thank bro!
Omg i felt it in my legs when you pointed the kamera down the tunnel shaft... That was far down.. But damn i would have liked to see what is down there.
@@rolfagten857 Let alone for someone to actually find you down there... But a expedition repelling down there is needed. Who knows what is left. Before these places gets bricked of.
It would be interesting to see how all these complexes look it you had a LIDAR scan available like those used for exploring Mayan ruins in Central America. Plumb line would be useful. Try affixing an led light and lowering it down to do a recon route / shaft.
Tino and the awesome research of Dr Farrell together they are Awesome. If you liked indiana jones growing up like i did these dudes together are the real deal. Reversing lost history to be rediscovered takes a lot of work. please support them guys. this channel is the best as history gets.
Hi Tino, at 49:03 you should have brought that plate with you that is from the Reichsarbeitsdienst of the Third Reich! Before joining the army, you had to spend 16 months with the R.A.D. in the 1930s and 40s.
True, but there are so many of them there, maybe one day we can all go and put together a set with glue. I seem to find porcelain in many of these places
Generator, power, water fuel and food storage all had sliding doors you can still see the tracks of, meaning no access to outside or further in to the protected areas of the bunkers, those edits would've been hinged armoured doors to control access.
Tino...... Just a hint for working in close vegetation , from jungle warfare centre. Gloves and a pair of large gardening secatures they are invaluable for cutting your way through and not attract attention in luggage
It's just amazing how much the nazi's built from tunnels weapons vehicles tanks submarines and TINO is going to find out God knows what else Another historic video from Tino
Another trick when travelling light and only having a pinpointer is to have a walking stick and fastening it to the pinpointer with Velcro straps, very little weight and you can pick up a stick anywhere!
I wonder if having a few very small Glow Sticks - tied with some string or a small light with string would help in your investigation ? Thank you for a Great Video.
Hi whaling throw your old vid which is grate,on this vid I wonder why that did not completely destroy the bunker like in others on different vid thanks keep them coming, addicted
To be technical (with the help of a free fall calculator), 2.6 second fall is approx. 33m (109 ft.) & the rock was travelling 83 fps or 57mph at impact.
Another great video! I have an idea for you. Those black and white blueprints of the various bunkers and fighting positions you show would make great posters you could merchandise. Just don't ship them from the US. Postage there is 400% higher than from Europe.
Tino goes out the first time with the Pinpointer metal detector and on his first day and finds (bayonet) no it's not, just a big fat chunk of door brace..I was thinking bullet casings and I was way wrong,, I was praying for you though?
WoW the damage Tino to the bunker system, was done as a way of disorientation for anyone going to it and also as a deterrent to anyone trying to explore it? You need a pro climber/climbers to be with you in these places for safety, but also the skills of people helping you to getting into these places and out again? Thank you once again for spending your valuable time doing the work that we like see and absorb and learn from. These videos are fascinating every single one and we k]look forward to more.👏🏻🇮🇪
No one is really managing them as such the mainline and the bunkers connected to it are operated as a museum so those are being taken care of theoretically I suppose this should come under that heading however with no staircase there's no access up or down and there are so many of them I'm not sure there's much to be done with this one except paint the Dome and a long rope ladder:-)
@@tinostruckmann No Tino, no slave laborers! R.A.D personnel (German Labor Service, this is a paramilitary organization where every German man had to serve for 16 months) REICHSARBEITSDIENST that is on the plate at 49:03 in the video. The R.A.D. probably built the bunkers and fortifications then.
The buildings were most likely dismantled by the Russians and used to erect temporary barracks for their soldiers until they could build more solid ones or take over large permanent German barracks like they did in other areas. They also could've been dismantled and used for aimple fire wood and easy way to disappear German labour camps.
Love this stuff. With all of these fortifications, complexes, etc, I've often wondered how this was paid for. The costs must have been horrendous. Materials need paid for, wages, infrastructure. How did Hitler finance all of these projects? Some of these were so large and permanent. They built stuff that wouldn't be built today. Where did all that money come from?
Tino is there any evidence of mudfloods? where the ground level has risen and first story windows are sunken half below ground window and stair and entrance height?
look at all them trees all skinny just regrown in the last couple of decades no old trees. these ruins are becoming part of a reset designed to loose history lost forever look at the evidence of the surrounding ground. structures like this were built to live many more decades if not centuries and beyond.
Tino "Indiana" Struckmann. One of these days...you're going to disappear down a hole, never to be seen again. ...Especially if you keep exploring solo.
There is an underground storage tank for the liquids for the flame thrower before it flooded you could climb down there. I know a few that are not flooded that I can get into next time and show you all
I had a rope in the car I was thinking about it for a minute but there's no anchor up top and what if I found something I was still need help dragging it up LOL
