Today I'll give you a tour of this 60,000 sq. foot salvage warehouse. Salvage One is located in Chicago at 1840 W Hubbard st. They are dedicated to preserving history through architecture and design.
I'm kinda doubting that I will ever get to the Chicago area in my lifetime (since I'm older than dirt), but maybe I can convince God to allow my Heaven to be just like Salvage One. It sure looks like Heaven to me! Hey Tom, thanks for the field trip and tour. I really love this place. Happy Sunday.
I've been to a few of those architectural salvage places too. They're generally crammed with interesting stuff but my experience is that they're also rather expensive. What's your opinion Tom? Thanks for the vid, very enjoyable as always and I really enjoyed the piano music at the start. Cheers mate.
Hi Mark, I actually went to 2 places. The one I didn't film had salvaged items from identifiable buildings. For example, door knobs from the old Chicago Tribune building selling for $125. That's crazy! Salvage One was no where near those prices. For the hardware at salvage One, prices were $3-$10 depending on the item. Salvage One prices were on par with an antique stores or perhaps in some cases, a little less. Cheers!
