Only the engine overheats after a minit or two of hovering. The air filters work ok.

There is an increased risk of FOD if you get it wrong. Landing on grass has a specific target speed to minimise the chance of something being ingested into the intake.

You probably can, to do it in the USA requires extensive modifications. I'm guessing there's more money in airshows in the USA than in the UK to pay for it. You can't just buy a fighter plane and fly it, it needs to be completely rebuilt removing all weapon systems and mechanical and electrical systems capable of supporting them, so the plane needs re wiring from scratch, needs to essentially become just a privately owned plane like any other and nolonger be a warplane. Hence why it has a massive lump of lead where the radar used to be to rebalance the centre of gravity because so much has been removed and altered.

Are you mad, the F35(B) is the most technological advanced aircraft in existence,and superior to the now obsolete harrier in every way, speed, range, payload, low observable, radar, integrated sensor fusion technology. The Harrier was very good for it's time, but it's days are over.
