It's because of ideas like this that I was a big supporter of Mr. Yang back in 2019/2020. 👍 I always imagined that if rural Americans swapped places with urban Americans for a couple years at age 18 for mandatory service, we'd accelerate the pace of change in this country even further. I think this has the potential to be an enormous government program. Take that as you will. In any case, I'll be tuning in.

This is true! Most Americans never leave their own State. I'm from NJ and also had family in NC so I exprience difference between the two states at an early age. Then I joined the Army and I was all over the country and world. I can get up and move to another State with ease!
Acceding to OnePoll, -- Eleven percent of survey respondents (all US residents) have never traveled outside of the state where they were born. Soooo not most.
@@TheVigilante2000 Really is Regional. A lot of people live on the borders of two States. But it really the same region of the country. Like NJ/NY. So technically they have travel to a different State. But did they leave the regional Metro area? No.
For some reason my 3 grader asked ( Who is Michael Jackson? ) I showed her a few video's but when i got to ( BLACK or WHIGHT. ) She grabbed my arm at the - American Indian Scene - and said, Mom we have to get out of here! They have Guns!!!
The difference lies in integrating into another part of society. It totally changes your perspective. I moved around a lot as a teenager and one of the nice side-effects was that I was never preoccupied with being popular at school. I just did my thing and had the friends, that liked what I did and that I liked. If you have friends in many other places, it drastically decreases the importance of how popular you are at any one given place. That is very freeing and allows you to focus on things you truly want. Perspective changes like these don’t happen through vacations. Another one (when I visited a friend’s family in Texas and talked a lot about their belief systems with them) was that people, who have fundamentally different beliefs are not necessarily malevolent. They’re good people just like you and I. Experiencing this makes you very resilient against and skeptical towards the constant bashing of the other political side that is so common in the media. Too often those on the other side are considered the villains. Whereas, when you spend enough time talking to them, you realize, they are rarely motivated out of hate and want the best for the country. They are not all ignorant, they just have a different idea of what “best for the country“ looks like. This rarely happens on vacations. It’s the result of many comparatively deep conversations that you only have, if you actually integrate into the society in that other place.

I think its a great idea to have a military guy be thr COO. The military has this thing called "Force Integration" where people from all over the nation are blended together to accompish the mission. The mission is to integrate the nation. This is a noble mission! This is a legacy building mission!
I mean I think it’s a great idea but it feels like the founder does the opposite I’ve watched several of his interviews and he exclusively interviews and takes donations from ultra liberals like Yang and PBS. I find it unlikely this program doesn’t project its liberal ideals on the students. Hope I’m wrong. I’ve been to 49 states and I encourage others to experience our country. I’ve noticed one thing in my travels. The people who love our country have seen and traveled our country.
