Listen… I married a 6’1” female collegiate athlete that has a masculine build like this chick. I’m 6’5” and was also a collegiate athlete. Now, don’t get me wrong, I had some guy friends, who question my choice of chatting her up, and my answer has always been the same… we’ll make monsters! 20 years later, I have a 6’4” 13yr old 255lbs son and a 5’8” 11yr old daughter, who destroy in their 7 different sports they play. Bonus, she’s actually smart compared to me, who is basically a knuckle dragging Neanderthal. So they’re A honor roll, student council participating over achievers too. Yeah, some times they don’t clean their rooms and their fights are legendary, but chatting up my monster wife was a great decision!

I want a woman too who can pass good genetics that I don't have like square jawlines and height (I'm 5'9. But I remember a doctor telling me all the way in 2019 when I was like twelve or so who claimed that based off of it, I would grow up all the way to seven feet). And I know that Slavic women are definitely not the way to go for that 😅 (I know because I'm partially Slavic and have encountered the Slavic people. Not very tall. Yup. My son plays offensive line on a well-known college varsity football team, but because he carries a lot of weight he's always considered "fat" by people he interacts with, and dispite his excellence on the field, and incredible abilities in the weight room, he gets no respect out in the world. It's not fair and shows complete ignorance when athletes who work incredably hard dispite genetic disadvantages, make it to the top of their sport, and because they don't fit the mold of what people consider "an athletec body", are discounted by society.

After about 15 or 16, the situation is reversed and you have to watch that too. I'm sure that mother would not want her healthy girl get pummeled because some idiot matched her against a young man. @JustaFairyStory
@JustaFairyStory Месяц назад
@@ohsweetmysteryagreed to a certain extent, but a LOT of these issues for people start when they are very very young, and become ingrained. Some of them exist for incredibly vain or stupid reasons. We wonder why we don’t look “better” than that other person, or we think we deserve to somehow not have a certain “problem” because not having it would make us better than someone else. Some of these problems do stim from selfish sources even if we don’t realize (again, I know people who’ve struggled with ED’s since the age of 8, boys and girls, actually) and at the age of 8, how much comprehension do they have to understand that the thing they hate about themselves might actually have a selfish reason? Especially when kids make fun of each other for the stupidest things. The reason can be a vain one, but sometimes the reason is simply “there must be something wrong with me” Pointing out that certain things are normal about the human body IS fighting against the vanity that is getting worse every day. Reminding people that no one actually looks like an instagram model all the time, or at least not without getting extensive work done. I mean people on tik-Tok are telling others they need to be concerned about how far their nose is from their lips!! So there is a space for acceptance of things that are part of a normal human body in way that isn’t vain or some shallow affirmation that you’re just ridiculously beautiful. Or at least, the way I see it, making peace with those stupid things we’ve taught ourselves to see as flaws is less vain than trying desperately to change them or hide in pursuit of external validation. We do unfortunately live in a time where people are on display more than ever before. Naturally that’s going to cause a lot of issues. People DO need to stop being so self obsessed. But it’s not always the reason why people develop serious body image related issues. Even if self absorption is the reason, it doesn’t mean they aren’t also struggling and it doesn’t mean a lifetime of self-resentment can be magical reversed in a day.

I was one of those who fell into this lie of "if you are more masculine then it means that you want to be a man not a woman". The hatred I felt towards my body and the little self-esteem I had coupled with the fact that I didn't know how to feel comfortable in my femininity due to past traumas led me to make a gender transition when I was 15, I did hormonal treatment and changed my name legally, I was naive to think that the contempt I felt towards my physique would change if from one day to another I made people treat me as a man. Just after 11 months of hormone treatment I realized that it was not what I wanted, but there was nothing to do anymore. My voice is forever altered, it will never sound as sweet as before. The only thing that that treatment did was aggravate my mental health problems, to this day I am ashamed to admit that I fell victim to this movement. Thank God I found channels like yours, which made me rethink my decisions. And although I can no longer change my past, I decide to change my future. Now, at the age of 20, I am learning day by day how to be more feminine and how to feel comfortable in my role as a woman. I hope happiness will find me soon.

I actually love that you talked about this. I am a woman who has struggled with “looking like a man” or “playing a man’s sport” or whatever. I hated hearing that from the same crowd that tried to defend “womens sports” and put me down. I am a woman and I was given the ability and gifts by God. Why is it that people would rather demean my femininity and make me question it and look towards other ideas than stand strong supporting me in it and holding me to it? I want to love being a woman but many days I don’t feel like one because of others. Thank you so much Brett. Ragga Ragnars, a Icelandic swimmer (edited: thought she was Norwegian, thanks for the catch!), I first saw her on the TV show Vikings. And let me tell you I'd never seen someone in my life that I could physically identify with ever. She's a giant! Built like a submarine and towers over others. I needed to see such a strong women and she became my favorite actress. Her character was never about her being better then the men, it was about her own strength she brought to the table. Her loyalty too. I was recently talking about this with my mother about masculinity and how I projected a lot of it to protect myself and to feel safe. My mom stopped me and said, it's not about you being masculine. It's about you being a strong women with an iron character, and unwavering morals. That hit me head on. I realized how much I had been thinking about all this bullshit, I've always said that if I was in school today, I'd have people trying to transition me because I'm a "Tom boy" but I'm beginning to see it just comes down to me being a strong women and knowing what I like/want. I can get dressed up with the best of them. And an 1 later I'm covered in mud training a horse. I think everyone needs to stop trying so hard to be someone there not.

Remove that it's just being gay. Remove that it's probably women being weaker than men again. Remove that it's probably a race. If not true. I can guarantee any adolescent/ teen girl has said something along the lines of “I hate being a girl” at some point lol. When I hit puberty before everyone my age I remember how uncomfortable I felt in my body, how uncomfortable it felt having the boys in my class and even grown men look at me differently. Feeling the pressure of “oh you’re a woman now, this is what a woman looks like this is what that means” it’s a lot of pressure on a young person and it’s no wonder young girls are more susceptible to feeling uncomfortable in their gender and can end up making permanent decisions about their body they go on to regret. I don’t agree with you on everything, Brett, I consider myself left leaning but I appreciate your take on this issue and it definitely needs to be heard by people of all political affiliations! Everyone could learn from this video :)

Growing up, I was told many opposing views. Since my mom works in a very time-consuming industry, my dad and older brother took up more of the childcare when it came to raising me. Due to this, I developed a very tomboy personality. I was bullied in school for being a top student and one of the main bullying topics used on me was “you’re unladylike and you’ll end up a nun” or “you’re too much like a guy, no boy will ever date you”. After hitting puberty and developing the classic Latina body, I was bullied with insults like “men will only ever want you for your body” or “you’re just using your body to seek attention”. The transgender stuff happened towards the end of my school life and for a brief while I did have thoughts in my head on whether I was possibly “supposed to be born a man” but the person who helped me embrace my femininity is my grandmother. She was the classic traditional housewife when she was younger and is now the classic religious sweet grandma. She never forgot to remind me how beautiful I am, how God will lead a man to me who’ll love me for who I am, and me loving boyish things (sports, fishing, hunting, etc) doesn’t make me less of a woman, it just makes me a strong woman. I love my grandma to death and her words helped me in my path of love. Now I’m engaged to my wonderful fiancé who’s never discouraged me from my interests and makes me feel like a woman everyday with his words and actions

The biggest advice I’ve given them, and mind you I’m the baby of my friend group, is that the more you strive to be in a relationship that’s “perfect” the harder it’ll be for you to find love. My relationship with my fiancé isn’t perfect, we appear perfect because we both have standards on how to act in public but we do argue every now and again in private. The only reason why our arguments never start to affect our relationship in a way other’s can notice is because we communicate. If a couple knows how to communicate with each other, then they are already very close to being “perfect”. Plus, similar beliefs does help too 😊

Tbh, this is kind of the reason why I hated how Glee retconned Coach Beest from being a masculine girl who just wanted to be treated like a girl and made her into a trans man. @its_me_the_redhead

This is one of your best episodes, Brett. With a different family, I also might have fallen for this bs. I was also tomboyish, and a redhead who couldn't do makeup to save her life, so I wasn't pretty and I didn't fit the gender stereotypes in my interests or tastes. I've also built muscle easily my whole life so I had larger muscular thighs by the time I hit 6th grade, while the rest of the girls around me had thin, size 00 legs. So to say I felt out of place and like I didn't fit the stereotypes would be an understatement. Almost 2 decades later, with many new experiences, I've found there are plenty of women like me and embraced what makes me unique rather than being embarrassed and lonely. I'm still allergic to pink frilly things and would rather be covered in dirt and sweat in the woods or in a barn than on a shopping spree or nail salon. But I'm also in a long-term relationship with a wonderful man and want to be a mother. Conservatives and Progressives are BOTH making the box for women too small and being complete hypocrits. Also, apparently, it is now trendy for EVERYONE, especially conservative men, to pile on and bully women who don't fit the stereotypes... wtf is wrong with people?!

It's crazy how people are trying to sell it off as if she's Trans to push an agenda. She's intersex born a women mostly but definitely produces more testosterone then average making her borderline within legal competitive limits. I think there's a fascinating conversation to be had here about how to make things fair and what Is fair but now people are too busy making it a Trans thing to have that discussion

well if you're referring to the fight with imane khelif, if she does make a video accusing her of being transgender then brett will just be proving she's a hypocrite

She’s a role model for anyone with insecurities, not just girls and women. So awesome. Also, I can’t wait to see your video on the intersex boxer tomorrow.

I can definitely say I have grown up having a more muscular build and was told I have “man arms”…I’ve worked on a farm since high school and have done plenty of sports. Though I’m still a farm girl, I wish I was sometimes more petite and small. I’m feminine by all means but I’m just strong.

Look at all the good your arms have done! I have the classic man hands and I always laugh that if one ever gets cut off in an accident nobody will know who it belongs to. But I have played musical instruments, nurtured my children, planted gardens and made art with them and am grateful for that. Plus as you get older you prob won't have wobbly arms haha. Them everyone will be jealous!

Love Ilona Maher. What an athlete. I am thankful she plays for the USA Rugby team. Our other women rugby players are every bit as awesome and wonderful and should have earned our respect regardless if they may or may not fit into some bizaar sense of what beauty is. They are all beautiful in my book. Preserve Title IX and watch women soar in all sports.

We hadn’t seen Ilona before the Olympics and my daughters and I just love her so much!! I have started taking weight lifting seriously because I’m so inspired by her and I’m 41!

Growing up, I was very tom-boyish and I idolized masculine women (the bigger and stronger the better) so I am immensely grateful that Ilona is out there being that role model, saying you can be strong and still be a beautiful woman. It's crazy that there are so many songs and movies that tell women to "be big" and "take up space" and when a woman does it in a way that they don't like they freak out. Ilona is beautiful! There is some Viking man out there just waiting to snatch her up! She is a true Queen and no one can convince me otherwise! ❤🤍💙

I agree, I grew up being mocked by men for being emotionally tough and not necessarily into toxic feminine ideas of a woman. I'm pretty flat and have strong features like thick eyebrows with small breasts and I totally got called you're like a man.

This broke my heart that people can be so cruel and hypocritical. Thank you for bringing awareness to Ilona. I didn’t know anything about her but I am a fan now!

I’m surprised absolutely no one noticed she’s literally Grenda from Gravity Falls: one of the funniest characters, tank build, girly girl. In the show she gets a handsome Austrian prince boyfriend, so I hope the same happens in real life. 💪💘

This episode made me cry!! From youbtalking about haying being a woman when you were younger to Ilona being so vulnerable about the horrible messages and comments she received.
