Americans turned OJ Simpson's murder prosecution into a serialised, nationally-televised soap opera with every rumour, new witness or lead reported, argued and analysed. The evidence against OJ (that he killed his wife and her friend) might appear overwhelming. But 80% of Americans believe or want to believe he is innocent. In 1995, at his trial there was more at stake than just the guilt or innocence of OJ Simpson.
