Its a satirical representation of an academic cultural critique of cinema back in 2001 by spike Lee. He wrote and spoke about the "magical negro trope" that has existed in movies since movies were invented. If you search that term, you'll find an explanation of that analysis. Lol. What you're describing is a protagonist. A character can have abilities that save the main protagonist. Race is irrelevant as is gender, as in The Green Mile the race of the magical character is completely irrelevant. He’s not fostering anything - he’s highlighting a TRUTH that those in the ‘ privileged section ‘ of American society don’t want to see. A Black producer can’t get funding to produce this sort of TRUTH, but he was able to. Oren Moverman isn't listed as a producer on this movie. A guy lobbying for a Willie Nelson biopic is pushing a race dividing narrative in move that fantasy satire is a reach looking at his other movies. That have a all white cast in the Indy genre. From early 90s talk shows, to tik toks today. You had many white share their distain for black people. Especially in areas that did have black people. So in the work place, neighborhoods you have those black people that make a lot of white comfortable to be around blacks.
