The American military cemetery in Margraten is the only American cemetery in the Netherlands. More than 8000 American soldiers are buried here who fought in Operation Market Garden, the Battle of the Bulge and those who eventually fell in Germany.
There are also 40 sets of brothers buried side by side, and 6 soldiers who have been awarded the Medal of Honor.
I will also tell you the story of the 6 soldiers who were awarded a medal of honor and what they did for it.

My dad's brother was killed in Germany March 3rd, 1945. He is Charles Crosswhite from Bend, Oregon. He is buried at Margraten Cemetery. Thank you so much for the tour of this beautiful place. My sister was contacted several years ago by the Dutch family who have adopted his grave. I'm grateful my family chose to have him buried there. I can't think of a better place for his final rest. May God bless the people of the Neatherlands. Greetings to you all from America. 🇺🇸

I am a retired and disabled UU Army officer. I attended high school at Robert G. Cole Jr/Sr HS. Being of Dutch heritage, I feel great kindredship with LTC Cole. My son and LTC Cole were both born at Brooke Army Hospital at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Thank you for your great tribute,

thanks for watching. I'm glad I was able to share this with you. I only talked about the soldiers with the medal of honor but in fact all 8000 soldiers are heroes lying here. Which is sad, but they have a beautiful final resting place.

Not sure if you knew, but the "Yellow Rose of Texas" was a popular song during the Texas Revolution against Mexico. Today, the yellow rose is a symbol of Texas. That's why seeing it propped on that Texan's gravestone so many thousands of miles away from home made me cry.

I can't thank you enough for your efforts in this mission! My uncle, Joseph Schutz was killed in WW I in France. He is buried in Muese Argonne Cemetery (SP?) My wife and I, along with our toddler daughter, visited there when we were stationed in Loan, France. It is also very impressive, as were the many others we visited while searching for Uncle Joe in Free Europe. Perhaps someone will create something for them. Again, many thanks! Gerald Schutz USAF Vet

Thank you so much for this video in advance of taking my mother whose father was killed in action most likely in Werl Germany coming upon a prison and civilian labor camp. On this very day, the day of his death, i came across your tribute. Amazingly 6:51 into it, you had featured Edward R.B. Jones head stone with the white roses. Crazy Coincidences. I'm giving this for my mothers 80th birthday and arriving in June from Texas and visiting with our adopted family that lives in Maastricht which i met by crazy coincidences also. Thank you.

My father in law a wounded veteran from the battle of the bulge died last August at 95...he never talked much about his days in the war. He married a Dutch woman....every 5 years they would travel to Holland to see her family and he would visit his friends buried in those cemeteries..he always said the real heros were the one who never came home...in the final years of his he would actually cry when he saw what was becoming of this country...he often said this was not the country he fought for...and couldn't believe his buddies died for this...I could have never walked in his shoes....the epitome of humility.

In response to some of the comments below regarding what these brave men and women would think of America today: as a Vietnam Vet I can tell you. How could our descendants elect as President a known pathological liar, serial sexual abuser, and a lifelong tax evader who ended his term inspiring and instigating a seditious insurrection against our government in direct violation of his oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States?

Biden has done nothing in life outside politics since Nixon. Yet is a several x millionaire. And getting richer. Trump took no presidential salary. I wonder who’s Coke was found in the WH? As a Vietnam veteran wasn’t our wreckless pullout from Afghanistan wonderful? How bout those dead Marines defending the airport…with RIFLES. YOU like $5/g gas? It was $2.46 in 2020 in my city. Thanks for serving in Vietnam.
