To all the people who keep saying "I miss the old Amity's sound," get it in your head, the music in the 'Misery' series of songs and some others was and is obviously not "changing their musical style from the good stuff to shitty pop music," the songs were made to convey a message that, if you'd pay attention to the lyrics, you might be able to find once you stop spreading so much negativity on the internet about things you don't fully understand yet. It was explicitly stated that they would be trying something different, presumably because the same people who are complaining about a "new sound" (which if you listen to the tracks, they still sound like amity, but with a bit of a twist) were the same people complaining to them because their older pieces sounded similar to each other. Maybe if people could stop complaining about everything that they don't like about the newest album and quit spreading negativity, they'd find the time to try something more along the lines of "Hey guys, I really like the new stuff, it's good to hear a bit of change, if there is any, in some of your newest songs. If there is, it wasn't exactly the direction I was hoping for, but either way it sends a good message, and I can appreciate that, keep up the good work!" Like seriously, it really isn't that hard to write something positive and constructive rather than follow the bandwagon of negativity. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the biggest fan in the world of the more pop-oriented sound of these songs, but I can appreciate the dedication put into the music, because if there wasn't any, we wouldn't even have a good band to listen to that sends these personal, inspiring, and even somber messages in the way Amity does. I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't judge an artist because they try something new, because if they make something that speaks to your soul, it's not about the sound of the instruments as much as it is the lyrics sending a message that can inspire someone to look inward and reflect on themselves, whether that reflection stems from deep anxiety or addiction problems to the current state of one's relationships and goals in life. Sure, the more contemporary sound and use of things unrelated to the initial genre that the band started with is unexpected, but it isn't anything to just quit on them because they produced something that you don't generally like for its sound. Chances are, nobody will see this, but I had to get all this off my chest, going back and reading some of the comments left on other songs like this just made me disappointed in the way people are towards change, no matter how small or temporary it is.
