I struggled with depression. You never completely beat it but you can win. It's not about forcing happiness its about not letting sadness win. The reason I never sought professional help was because I never felt like they ACTUALLY cared about me, they only cared about getting paid or my insurance. It was always hard to talk to someone who it's their job to talk to you. I never wanted to be a chore or a job. That's just me though. I think people should do whatever they think is right to get better. I was able to do it on my own but it took almost a decade with alcoholism, drug abuse, suicide attempts, alcohol poisoning, detox, and withdrawals along the way. My path wasn't the right one, I should have sought help. I just think this is why people don't seek help.
