Hi James Great video on Magnatone. I now have one and it sounds fantastic. One question, does your Magnatone have a slight hum when turn on with noting plugged in? Cheers Mike
After playing the stereo version of the Twilighter with the mono version, do you have any regrets? Was the stereo version simply too loud to use regularly? I believe you use a Fryette PS-100. Did you consider buying a second attenuator to tame the stereo Twilighter? If I buy the stereo version, I'll likely buy a second Fryette. Thanks.
James - Did you end up moving your Twilighter on in a trade or did you keep it? Wondering how you think this compares to the new Two Rock Vintage Deluxe?
Hi James, great video. I recently got the Twilighter combo and the Panoramic Stereo combo and I play them wet dry with hardly anything in front but sometimes a booster or light overdrive …. WoW. Try that combination if you have a chance, it’s nothing short of amazing and so easy to dial in. Cheers from Canada!
You turned me on to what became my Bartel (Sugarland) and I can't imagine parting with it in my situation - it does so much with a magical low volume clarity. That being said the Twilighter sounds epic - such a great choice. Wish they made the stereo version with Bartel's attenuation magic built in...
The bartel amps are just incredible - and i would like to think i will have another again. Yeah, i don’t the guys at magnatone really understand the needs of non-stadium players! 😂
In honour of you i took some last clips with the bartel to then do some sky king clips against 😃 won’t be quite as in depth as hoped. But I actually hope to cross paths with the Roseland in my future - stunning thing!
…I was thinking while watching the Peach interview with PRS, so should have been there (and I would have finally met you too!). I shall ring them to find out how customers can get on their invite list for “clinic” events.
@@JamesOnGuitar Thanks James. I will be curious to know what you feel are the strengths/weakness and simply differences between the two amps from a players (feel) and tone perspective. Cherrs
James, genuine question here (not criticism): Between the two tube amps I have and about 10 pedals, I can get virtually any tone I would ever want. I genuinely think it’s possible that you have a more discerning ear (and that may be the answer), but what does this amp get you that another high quality amp matched with high quality pedal can’t? Is it just to get the simplest rig, as you say? Like you need the best possible sounding foundation for you in order to have the least amount of add ons?
Yeah good question - no problem - i don’t know about more discerning, but i am a curious person by nature for a start. And there is a chance we are looking for different things. Yes, this amp overdrives differently than the other amps i’ve tried, and it is brighter and grittier. It has a different tone and one i find i instinctively like. I mean - lots of studio will have many amp options, so it can’t just be me.
Some glorious tones from the baritone. I love these amps but they terrify me. I could never get to use one to its full potential. To be able to play at the volumes you can get away with. I understand selling the roseland there are so many glorious tones inside it is hard to figure which one is actually yours if you get me. The slide playing is coming on nicely. Cheers James. Channels growing really nice! . Look forward to what’s down the road .
@@JamesOnGuitar Thanks for the quick response! I was on the verge of canceling my order. How do the Roseland cleans match up with the Magnatone Twilighter Stereo?
You’re very lucky you’re near Peach Guitars. Here in the U.S. people think we have a ton of stores. Well we may but they’re very far away. We live in a major city. We had one store that left. Finally, another store but mediocre. If you want something here it’s online only sadly. And typically a gamble. I have some amps with the option to lower the wattage Bogner and a Friedman that honestly has a great volume control. Can’t play loud in an apt. Have tinnitus anyway from a drug called Gaba. I’m not even on it anymore and still have it. It drives me crazy so don’t want to even play loud.
@JamesOnGuitar Now that I now your tonal preferences (Dirty, saggy, tweed rather than smooth overdrive) I implore you to try out the Way Huge Red Llama. That pedal gets me to my happy place every time and you can clean up well like an amp. Love the tones with this Magnatone though.
They are some glorious tones mate… has me questioning are clean tones to clean should I try a lower wattage amp for “nicer” edge of break tones… I had a 20 Trainwreck clone and it was a one trick pony (I’m not saying the Magnatone is) it TW didn’t reply do clean and didn’t love pedals… I can’t wait to hear more tones from the Magnatone mate
I’ve thought about that a lot mate. To me, i live in the edge of break up zone and that suits what i want to play, so that answers it for me. The magnatone has gorgeous cleans - but very loud ones!!
So - that day i used the kingtone blues power mainly, sometimes going into the mythos mjolnir which is a klon. And, the amp was attenuated too. But, the amp takes pedals incredibly well, and if you use an attenuator (unless you can play super loud) you can get amazing drive tones just from the amp
That amp sounds incredible. Any interest in trying a Tweed Twin either Victoria or Fender? Figure that sound (when cranked with an attenuator) would be right up your alley.
I sold my Panoramic Stereo bc I wanted a Twighlighter. Got sidetracked on some attainable vintage fenders (Mustangs, Jaguars) and man oh man do I need to look again at the Twighlighter.
Yeah - Jack, the peach demo guy, played it. Sounded great. I had the 100watt one for a few days a while ago but it was too stiff for me - but i think the 20w with master volume at that price is great
Looks like you've got a good relationship with Peach: they've got a tremendous choice ! I have a CS'64 SG RI from them. Awesome axe with dangerous tones !!
Ha! Yup, for better or worse, i’m ‘one of their best customers’ 😬😬 i got my 64 cs sg in tv gold from them too and love it!! But yeah, from my two rocks, magnatone to custom gibsons, masterbuilt strats etc they have awesome stuff!
I really enjoyed that, James. Until recently I had the Origin Magma 57 pedal. Where it did give a flavour I don’t think it had anywhere the amount of gain that the Twighlighter amp seems to have. I may need to start saving.
Yes - i know what you mean. I do love the magma57 as an always on with other amps - it has a wonderful character. I think it is based on a different amp than the twilighter, so perhaps that’s why, but more gain would be great. Highly recommend the magnatone amps though!
