The Ancient North Siberians - Life on the Edge of the Earth
During the Last Glacial Maximum, one of the coldest times in human history, a group of about 500 individuals thrived in the Arctic Circle. Trapped between the glaciers, these Ancient North Siberian or Yana people found themselves in a unique land where they had to learn to be resilient to survive.

Thank you for this so much man. I’ve been trying to connect myself to my pre Indo European hunter gatherer ancestors, and this helped a lot. Ancient north Siberian’s just like ancient north Eurasians accomplished so much, yet we don’t teach about them much in history. They domesticated man’s best friend, revolutionized hunting, created advanced tools that are still used today and they also settled harsh lands that would seem almost impossible for any average man to live in today.

Well, we have just recently been able to verify the connection of these ancient myths in the fossil record. It was too easy to write them off as some sort of colonial fantasy created by Europeans to claim things they had zero connections to. Sometimes the dots really do connect. It’s all so fascinating.

It's interesting how much impact the ANE and ANS had. Thanks to comparative mythology we are pretty sure some of our myths go back to them, like the Cosmic Hunt or the "dog guarding the underworld" motif (like Cerberus). And pretty incidentally with when they turn up in the Levant sites like Göbekli Tepe and Karahan Tepe pop up along with stories of some other people who brought civilization. So I wouldn't be surprised if we find some ancestor site to Göbekli Tepe somewhere between the Levant and Eastern Siberia some time in the future. Or maybe it was some other peoples from somewhere else, like Europe, India or Africa. But a lot of evidence seems to line up for Siberians. Or maybe it was really the mix of them all that lead to civilization. But I tend to give mythology much more credibility than most people, because I know how long some of our stories can last thanks to Comparative Mythology. Like the earth diver motif which seems to trace back to before the first migration out of Africa.

Because it is really annoying when people insist on always going back as far in history as possible to determine who are the true inheritors of a piece of land, and such recidivism only leads to intolerance toward newer-comers and violence, which nobody wants. Also, since there are currently people living in Siberia, it would cause a lot of confusion if we also had to call the "Native Americans" "Siberians".
