Cinnamon.... The best version of this song is any one that was recorded live so that you could hear the crowds’ epic 6-word response to the song title when the lead singer would ask when performing it 🇦🇺🤘🤪🤘🇦🇺
The song was written as a tribute to Doc Neeson's (lead Singer) girlfriend who died in a motorbike accident. A while after it was released Fans mistook it as a song about a rough breakup and inserted the ""No way, get F**ked, F**k Off!" part. Doc actually hated performing the song for a while but it took on a life of it's own and gained new meaning. Now an ALLTIME Aussie classic that when played will always have 100% crowd participation. LOL.
Do some research love and try again. This is the greatest audience reaction anywhere anytime world over. Originally written as a ballad for a band mates girl friend who died, someone somewhere (lots of claims for who) began to respond to the question "Am I ever gonna see your face again"? with "No Way. Get Fucked. Fuck Off" Listen to this song and listen to the audience. Try the Melbourne show 1988. Everyone responds. Everytime. @
Cinnamon... A few more awesome songs from this classic Aussie group that I know you’d enjoy are: 1) - “The dogs are talking” 2) - “Let the night roll on” 3) - “Shadow Boxer” 4) - “No Secrets” 5) - “Take a long line” .....Play these as loud as possible (especially the live shows versions) & you’ll see the fans in the clips go nuts 🤟🤪🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Watch the live version. The Angels, "Am I ever gonna see your face again?" The audience or anyone listening to the song, "No way, get fucked, fuck off".
the lyrics was extended by the fans at " LIVE AT NARARA " concert In early 80`s and it goes like this ; Doc Neeson ; Am i ever gonna see your face again ? the fans; " NO WAY GET FUKT ,FUK OFF " lol
It's actually a love song that he wrote about a friend who's girlfriend died. The guitar riff at the start of the song Mimics an ambulance siren. Tram cars and taxis, like a waxworks on the move Carry young girls past me, but none of them are you. Without you near me, I got no place to go Wait at the bar, maybe you might show I got to stop these tears, that's falling from my eye Go walk out in the rain, so no one sees me cry Am I ever gonna see your face again - Unfortunately No because she died in a car crash
Good solid Aussie pub rock. The live version is the best. It's part of our Aussie Psyche. Written about the loss of someone in an accident. The guitar mimics the sound of an ambulance siren. RIP Doc, one of THE GREAT Aussie frontmen.
The Angels are in a genre we Aussies call pub rock, very popular even at biker rallys. Front man Doc Neeson had since died from a brain tumour after a motorcycle wreck - he was an inspiration to my inner goth as he played the creepy Goth Barber/Funeral Director. 2 videoes I recommend are the Angels underground & face the day - check them.out, you'll love Doc Neeson's theatrical style 😀
this is an early version. the later ones with audience recall - like others have mentioned - may be a shock. great Aussie band though. the original meaning was a song for a friend that was in a bad accident hence the lead guitar playing an ambulance siren
This song is an Australian “anthem” in our music history here 🇦🇺🤟😝🇦🇺. It’s a shame you didn’t get to watch a live concert version of this which includes the epic 6-word response from the crowds whenever the lead singer, Doc Neeson (R.I.P Doc ✊️😔) would ask that is ICONIC here & pretty much “mandatory” at Angels’ concerts.... Hint... The crowd (once prompted), would respond with “NO WAY! GET F**KED! F**K OFF!”. Any of my fellow Aussies here will know & remember EXACTLY what I’m talking about. If you ask any Aussie about the Angels, this song is usually the first they’ll think of telling you about.... GUARANTEED!!! 🇦🇺🤘😝🤘🇦🇺. If you watch the live concert version, pay very close attention to the crowds’ responses & you’ll hear them in all their glory. Take care & much love always from 🇦🇺Australia🇦🇺❤️❤️❤️
The Angels started as a pub band but broke into the Aussie charts with songs like Shadow Boxer Take a Long Line Marsalle Dogs are Talking Many more lead singer passed about 6 yrs ago PLAY MORE 🤘🤘🤘🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Cinnamon... If you “love you some guitar”, then may I recommend “Surfing with the Alien” (LIVE version), by Joe Satriani. What the man can do with an electric guitar won’t just blow your mind... It will DESTROY it 🔥🎸🔥. Joe can literally make a guitar “talk & just NOT shut up” 🤘🤪. In regards to the Angels, it’s a shame their lead singer, Doc Neeson, is no longer with us because this song was always best experienced live in concert surrounded by drunk, deliriously happy & VERY vocal Aussie fans 🇦🇺🤘😝🇦🇺🍺🍺🍺
You want to know something about this band? They toured America as support for the Kinks, but got booted from the tour because the Kinks were being upstaged at every show. At some point in America they were known as Angel City to avoid confusion with some other band.
The manager had a girlfriend and he kept telling her how good this band was. She kept saying she'd go see them. One night, she tried, but was killed in a car accident. So I guess he will never see her face again.
Is this the sanitised version for the politically correct soft ears of the US market??? You have to play the real Aussie crowd reply version sung live in Melbourne.
You need to play the live concert in Melbourne in 1988, y'all will love the crowd participation, and the crowds responce to the question of Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again, is synonymous with this song,Doc has a shirt with the words that the crowd are saying if you can't understand what the crowd are saying
