No, why do you think they assumed he was the mayor when first coming? Clearly they wanted to hire a mayor, who dropped out without saying anything, then they assumed the player is the mayor since they haven’t met the mayor, the real issue is that he/she is probably making money off of being a mayor when the player is actually the mayor
Perfect example, the Kaos boss battle in Skylanders Trap Team. I had to buy more skylanders, and then still had only one left at the end lol. Even my Dad couldn’t help me, I think he only made it worse lol!
Skylanders Imaginators One second you’re creating a cute little guy with your imagination and the next second you’re battling an ancient god with the power of electricity or you know, battling a sewer creature that will eat you alive
I like to think that you, the player just left the town for super smash bros leaving the town in a state of madness with Isabelle being the new mayor barely being able to actually sustain the town. Once Isabelle was invited to smash she also left leaving the town to fend for itself and making the town a mad wasteland.
I like the theory that the mayor was gonna be Rover but since he liked to travel and you just so happen to be going to the same town he decided to let you take his place
Funny thing is that Isabelle already has your name, meaning Rover must've used a fake name, saw that your name was the same and was just like "Screw it this'll be funny."
Yeah, I always assumed that Rover asked us the questions he does in the beginning of the game, to test if we are worthy of his place. And then seeing as he knows where we live now and our name he can send us the secret letter
Trust me, the animal crossing people talk about it all the time, the leading theory I like is that the mayor was suppose to be Rover because normally, he's the only one on the train with you. People do think it I'd Tortimer but it's well established that he retired from being Mayor in game and in New Horizons. Rover was already known to be a someone to travel for a living so the stress of settling down would make sense if he was asked/elected to be mayor by friends who knew him. Ultimately Isabella and Tom Nook certainly knew what happened but were understanding and allowed someone else to take the mantle. In short? Corruption? Rampant ammounts.
@@gferrol118 Tom nook uses the money for secret science that makes it so the island doesn't get a flood Because an island this unbelievably small is bound to get flood
Why let the first Human Villager in the Town hold the title then, and make the decision on where things go? I kinda get she might actually be the Mayor in some extent since its *her* signature is on the paperwork for the projects and whatnot.
old mayor: crap crap crap I need to get in contact with them immediately maybe isabell can handle things for a couple days while I get this sorted old mayor: what do you mean you have a mayor old mayor: they just showed up old mayor: are you joking old mayor: no I don't want the job anymore if the people are so stupid they just take the only non animal as leader. isn't that a violation of some race law somewhere old mayor: good bye and good riddance to ... uh what was the name again old mayor: they changed it to butsmunch and you still thought that was me old mayor: who do I call for legal reparations
They should have made it where if you were gone long enough Isabelle would become Mayor and you could choose wether you want to become mayor again or let her stay in charge.
Bad movie idea: so yknow how that one character who has an allergy or like some sort of weakness always dies because of it? In this movie the main characters are a bunch of nerds who found out some government conspiracy (and they all have like cat allergies or whatever) and the bad guys in the movie know their allergies but they always get the wrong guy to torture. Like let's say this dude is lactose intolerant and they bring him in and try to cover him in latex or something. And the bad guys are just freaking out thinking that hes immortal. And then they have a dance party, ofc.
That's actually a nice idea, which could be a children movie, the only difficult thing would be to get the audience to remember who is who, but besides that, it could be really cool
As someone with 62 million bells in Animal Crossing New Leaf, I can confirm the online island feature is overpowered. Easy 10 million bells a day if you find good script kitties.
The beginning of acnl always pissed me off - not because of the mayor thing but because I answered "You're cool" by saying "yes I am" and that made me male, which I didn't realise until I was too invested to reset my game 😭 and unlike in acnh, you can't just ignore gender so I had to have one of the ugly ass male haircuts until I unlocked long hair 😭😭
No one overlooked it... Tortimer was the old mayer, he retired and someone else was supposed to take his place. You rode the same train as him, which fans believe was rover but I think Nintendo confirmed it wasn't him. My guess is he figured you would be better at mayor than him.
My theory is just that Rover was meant to be mayor, but just didn’t really wanna and walked across the train asking people if they were going to his town so he could force them into it
"Hello mayor!" "But I'm not the-" "I know, but please just take the role. the real mayor tried to cook several of the villagers last time." "Holy shit"
It was always my headcanon that Tortimer was supposed to be the Mayor and one who wrote that letter, but I haven't played in a long time so idk if it still holds up lmao
I headcanon that Isabelle puts up with it anyways because of her (canonical) crush on the player character. Also, fun fact, Isabelle is bi, because she has the crush regardless of your character’s gender.
I find it crazy how after not playing for 5 years, when I finally booted up new leaf on my new 3ds, Derwin, who was there since the town started, had not moved out. If I were older when I first played I probably would be mad because he looks like a nerd, but I was so young and innocent I loved all my villagers and genuinely cried when merengue moved out
what I assume is that Tortimer was intended to be the mayor but upon hearing a younger person was coming to do it and had been accepted as well, he decided to leave them be as he was too damn old now
The way they assume you're the new mayor implies they have never seen the real mayor before. I wonder if there was some campaign for someone awful to become the new mayor, but everyone got together and voted for this random person somehwere else because they'd still do better. New mayor didn't want the job and was relieved that someone else took it.
I heard that there was some lore in Animal Crossing: Wild World called episodes which would happen on certain days, you can tell one's about to start when an animal (like Sable) ssys "Sigh...."
“You call me immoral is that what ya think? Well at least I didn’t drive my assistant to drink! Poor dear little Isabelle is caught in a living hell, she fishing in your work not building a citadel.” -Stupendium
i've been playing since it first came out , on and off over the years , i just met pascal for the first time yesterday in the water, it was a heavenly experience, always learning something new about acnl
