Nobody has ever sang House Of The Rising Son better than Eric Burdon. There are a lot of replicas of that song, but nobody beats the Animals version. Eric is the man!
Weil es Erics version ist! Wenn zum beispiel ich ein song Singen würde meiner version dann könnte es auch keiner toppen weil das dann halt die original version ist, verstehst du?
Always loved seeing The Animals on RSTG... you knew they were going to be great right from the off... Alan Price’s keyboard playing was absolutely superb. Mickie Most was a very clever producer, who had an amazing ear for hit records, so it was a good combination for their early career.
Dont give a damn about his hair or dancing, hes a brilliant singer and really loves his music, a lovely bloke and a great talent, no one sings the blues like Eric, love him❤️
I never liked Alan he fells so hard and full of him self, Erics dans vas cut and his hair to. Eric a great singer he sings blues so you fell it in your heart and soul, for me Eric is blues on one can sing blues so great as Eric.
There needs to be a definitive documentary on this group.I know there's the Eric Burton and Beyond, but I'm talking one that's longer than 54 minutes long.2-4 hours would be just about right!
Yes, so do I and I would say most of his fans love the way he throws himself into the music 100%. Alan Price seemed to enjoy giving Eric a little dig on the way he danced around. Shut up Alan.
I'm a relatively new fan (I'm 53, so no excuse for not joining sooner 'The Church of Eric & The Animals'). I've just finished watching all 3 parts of this documentary and it's kinda left me with a bit of a feeling of sadness that not only were there serious issues between the band and management, but also themselves, but the saddest part for me is that for some band members (if not all) they didn't seem to realise the gift they had having Eric as their lead singer with his uniquely raw gritty soulful voice he couldn't help but make every song sound bluesy, which it seems band members (all extremely talented in their own right) and even managment felt at times was maybe not the direction they wanted to be going in? And even the way Eric moved (which I love) Alan Price was laughing at it, well at least the way Eric's dancing was described back in the day. Sadly I think Eric was WAAAY ahead of his time and some just didn't seem to 'get him', but the more time that passes it seems the more Eric's talent is appreciated & the magnitude of it is being understood. BUT, the sadness won't last too long as all I need to do is put all this out of my mind and just listen to Eric and let him do his 'thang' and soon all will be well with the world once again. Oh and Eric was wrong, not everyone can do what he did/does, you've either got it or you haven't and oh boy, has that Man got it BIG time! 😉
I have to give it to Alan Price. He knew when the music was getting lost in all the drugs and sex and corruption. That life is hard and not what he signed up for. Mad respect for him...his voice was amazing!, His version of "I Put A Spell On You" could not be touched by Eric.
Idk if it was intentional, but when they analyze Eric Burden's dancing during their performance of Chuck Berry's Around and Around, the clips of Mick Jagger they compare are from a Stones preformance of Around and Around
I loved the Animals....Eric Burdon’s vocals were superb, and Pricey was a great keyboardist. I always thought how amazing they could have been with a great blues guitarist in the lineup, instead of Hilton Valentine.
He is a very bigoted 'journalist' and adds nothing of value, insight or interest to any documentary or item about music. He is one of the major reasons I stopped reading the NME in the late 70s. He and the NME based everything on their hard left politics, so you would know their opinions on an album or concert even before reading a review. Basically, it was anything Rock - baaad, anything Punk - goood, any black music - beyond criticism, Folk - baad (unless it was black), Country - baad, etc. It was like reading Pravda. And yes, I often wanted to punch him and his equally bigoted ilk.
Alan Price got the credits for The Animals arrangement of House of The Rising Sun but kept all the royalties for himself and didn't share with everyone else. They despised Alan for it and I believe Alan and Eric have never patched things up with each other.
When Alan opens up about the tensions inside The Animals that made them who they are, you can tell that fact is believable that he got all the credits.
No. Eric Burdon is now 82. Alan price is still alive, and John Steel is still alive. I believe John steel has a new version of the Animals, but he too must be near 80.
Alan Price was the same a$$ hole who cheated his band mates out of the royalties from THEIR arrangement of the House of the Rising Sun, so ot should come as no surprise thst he would say what he said about Eric' s dancing. Btw, Alan was obviously jealous of Eric's good looks, bocal talent, charisma, stage presence, and all around sexiness.
The Rolling Stones were and are criminally overrated. Mick Jagger can't sing or dance , he was homely and lacked sex appeal, to boot. Eric Burdon and The Animals are the EXACT OPPOSITE of what I said about Mick and the Stones.
I am from the north east and it was great having a band like the animals in the 60's but to say that Jagger can't sing and the stones were overrated ..well I'm not going to start and be rude..just speak with honesty and say...you are talking out of your arse !!
The Animals were blues interpreters who mostly took other people's songs and structures and added a bit of their own flavor to them. The Stones were musical innovators, with an amazing song writing team, who wrote dozens of iconic rock songs and continue to fill stadiums, around the world, to this very day. It's not a beauty contest, it's rock and roll. Long lasting popularity is not "overrated." It is the will of the people filling the seats. Nobody brow beats you into buying three hundred dollar concert tickets. The music is the only thing that gets you there. Lastly, this is a documentary on The Animals. Why did The Rolling Stones even enter into your comments?
obbor4 I've saw some televised Stones concerts, and I wouldn't pay for the gas to get to a Stones Concert. ( I think Alan i Price is the one who brought up the Stones)
