"We do not know how the initial cell came to be, therefor we have scientifically proven design" is not how science works. We do not know is the proof of us not knowing amd we can't infer more from that. Once we did not know where thunder came from, and that was used to justify a beleif in Thor.

The argument with the phone (it was originally a watch, so it is known as "the whatsmaker argument" starts with something we know is designed. Try starting the argument with for example a tree. You would not expect that to convince an atheist would you? Once you understand thr difference between the phone and the tree that makes only one of them work as the starting point in this argument, you understand why the argument as a whole does not work.

@@mademan4life sorry, it can be a bit hard to explain - do you know why he started arguing the phone was designed, instead of just starting with a tree or an animal?
