These anti-haul videos are so funny to me because it makes me realize just how out of the loop I am. I didn’t even know any of these were trends, I guess I’m accidentally winning the war on consumption just by being oblivious and stuck in my own little world. Not having social media except for my curated RU-vid subscriptions is probably a big factor 😃
Omg absolutely! It is soo refreshing to see❤ I live in Sweden for second year and I was shocked by the popularity of tanning beds😱 i understand it is everyone's business what they do with their bodies but I am also afraid people fall for trends too easily😢
I'm lucky that I inherited intensly colourful glasses from my grandma. They look fun on the table and remind me of her. She barely used them ( if ever) - shelf life only. Now they have their opportunity to shine ⭐️
Scrunchies are actually really easy to sew yourself! Either by hand or with a machine. Just thrift a nice shirt in a fabric you like or upcycle something you have laying around. There are a lot of tutorials on youtube for this. When I make it myself from secondhand materials I don’t feel so bad when the excitement of wearing it wears off☺️
As someone who hates hot weather I don't enjoy Summer much. I don't go swimming, I don't even have any swim wear, and I don't like spending time on a beach. I'm a pale redhead and there were times when I used to apply self tanning cream every week so that my white limbs won't stick out of my black clothes. But with time I just thought: why bother? Most red heads don't tan naturally. All we get is face and body covered in freckles. So I stopped self tanning and now I focus only on SPF 50 for my face and body. I don't care what people think. The only thing I buy in Summer is tons of good quality ice cream and berries, cherries and veggies. Yum.
I love glassware and dishes. I'm loving all the colors, but I have to be able to create at least three tablescapes with them before I buy. I bought some secondhand recycled green glasses because I could style them. But that's about it.
One thing I am not buying this summer is the single use pride tat. I am queer and love pride, but I don’t appreciate the pinkwashing of fast fashion, and it’s definitely not an intersectional approach to be hurting the planet. Pride is a protest after all.
Watching this video while I drink my mushroom coffee is YIKES! LOL I love eating mushrooms and started adding mushroom powder to my tea or coffee a couple of months ago. I do find I have a zeroed in focus in the morning into early afternoon, more so than BEFORE I started using it. I have lovely summer clothing already- fresh, pretty and made of linen and cotton! I have a soft, colorful home- it really depends on line and form for color. And I think I need a perfect book for days in the garden...🙂
I was gifted a mega-scrunchie and I do love it... grateful for gifts even if they are trendy! Also, I recently fell in love with a mushroom protein powder, which is chocolate flavored and perfect for a healthy chocolate + frozen banana smoothie. Delicious lunch for these hot summer days!
I have three kids but also dont want my home to look like a preschool -- I lean towards natural cozy colours & decor. And I think generally kids want to use adult tableware, etc. anyways, the novelty of the brightly coloured tableware and linens wears off quickly. The one thing I need need to buy this year is swimwear, I have had the same suit for 10 years, so 3 kids later I definitely deserve it, lol.
book arrived today and I can't wait! I can justify the scrunchie as it could be a way to elevate an old outfit instead of buying new....also I wear them then or not as they don't damage my hair like other bobbles. x
For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I'll be happy that I have the kislux as my travel bag that I don't have to take care of. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.
The only thing that interests me are the mega-scrunchies- I shave my hair but my sis told me they're great if you want to stop water trickling down your arms in the bathroom when you wash your face.
This really reminded me how set I truly am with sunglasses and swimwear and skincare! I have tried the mushroom coffees and not a big fan. Agree with the adult decor also. I feel mine's a bit whimsical and I do own some vintage stuffed animals who live on a shelf and have quite rich lives hehe...but I also go for more of a minimal and stylish look that is definitely reflective of a two adult household with no kids. Some of my friends adore it while others comment it is too bare and clean but I love it.
Summer wear shopping is so tempting especially with the visuals. But all I need is a reality check that London has technically 5 days of summer 😅😂 and I’m out the shopping cart. Currently I am on the hunt of the perfect oversized boyfriend shirt - white and blue stripes.
Agree on the adults live here look….retired and finally at a point in life where I can have what I want not what is practical for kids or pets. It gives me joy to have nice things out and on display rather than packed away to keep safe from curious little hands.
Totally get you Jenny. I just moved house, and the tatt, we all accumulate here and there and given by people is just ... another level. I'll need sunglasses for work, thats for sure, so here comes the Oakley hunt for my extremely narrow head! Swimsuit. I definitely need one, as I needed one for many years. I'm just usually wearing my seamless neat undies and a croptop for those extremely rare beach days. Neutral for kitchen and homewear here too! As for mushroom coffee... I feel like they've been trending for a few years, I am surprised to see their revival. I personally rarely give a dang for SPF, yet working outside! Perhaps I should start wearing it really. Got the OK days in hard back❤ And as for your home looking like an adult home: Totally. What's interesting is that people seem to be buying me childish, cutesy stuff and I'm like, hmmm, maybe no! It's really not me, buy cheers😅
I’ve had mega scrunchies in my collection for a while now 😂 I wear my black one when I want to channel Reese Witherspoon, Samantha Mathis and Chloe Sevigny in American Psycho
Currently obsessed with finding loose fit knit sweaters in linen fabric, the equivalent to the linen button up for my climate. I had no idea this type of garment existed until I splurged on a piece this past month. It's the kind of smart wear I can get behind. Also on the hunt for plastic framed light coloured sunglasses - I was a diehard metal frame gal but I'm too looking for comfort and ease and don't want my face to be weighed down visually and physically.
I take reishi and lion’s mane as supplements and I feel their benefits. You can also eat them. Here in Argentina aren’t so expensive. $50 for two months.
I just love your anti-haul videos. ❤ I am not into trends, only things I find inspire my own personal style. Thank goodness I am so difficult when it comes to shopping that I always choose a travel or a trip over anything, but my wardrobe will make it stylish. And no...food trends such as monthly new powders in different colours are a NO for me- I believe in real food and ingredients. But respect all other choices.
I'm really not into trend shopping which is nice. I am on the lookout for cute upf long sleeve shirts and wide brim hats like the white on you showed. I just went to Hawaii and only had one bathing suit so i rapidly tried to buy something because i kept putting it off. I think i need to rewire my brain because i avoid shopping so much that when i need it, i have to resort to whatever. Not a great thing to do.
I also have little affinity for the “kidult” aesthetic. I have no judgement towards enjoying children’s books and other types of media, but putting Nintendo figurines on every shelf has to be kept to a minimum. Unfortunately, I don’t have 100% control over my living space because I live with someone else.
When I wore contacts still I was a serial sunglasses shopper. In a way it was great because I had so many amazing models to match every outfit. But now my eyes are too dry and I'm tied to prescription glasses. Which is why I only have 2 pairs of sunnies, cause they be expensive af. But at least they have some really nice prescription sunnies nowadays, even though I usually wear my fake aviators, because they go with everything.
Thanks for these anti haul videos, they are really helpful to remind me to be a more conscious buyer and try to keep my wallet closed! :) Oh, btw, I LOVED Okay Days! I feel like it's the perfect read for summer! So light and amusing, yet full of serious insights and reflections. Sam and Luc are the type of characters that stick around even after you've finished the book. ♥
I am doing a maximum 5 new garments per year challenge. Some researchers from Germany had found that number to be what the environment can handle per person + it meets the required needs of a person. So I´m not buying sunglasses or swimsuits, only the things I really need. I am also finding some gems in the thrift store tho, since I can buy used garments while doing the challenge:) But thrifting makes me find my own style, instead of following the new trends.
For me, sunglasses are the least im going to use money on as it is so easy to forget them, lose, or someone steal them. Also designer sun glasses are made of cheap materials and for the price of some of these sunglasses you could have bought a real gold ring or necklace or a nice watch....
Totally aagree with all of these apart from the mega scrunchie. I bought one a couple years ago and love it :D the colourful glassware is beautiful though and id love to have some if I didnt already have glasses or if I find them secondhand
i just bought a soft plushy stuffed shiba inu. its the size of my live one. recommend recommend! i love color & some toys that look amazing in my library. my home is bright white otherwise. it is a tiny cabin in a big city that feels like i am in the country. my dog is cream and white. the stuffed one is the same . they would look well in your home . thank you for your channel . we are so different and i like that.
I got a lions mane hot chocolate for Christmas. I am happy to have a good hot chocolate powder at hand and well I wouldn’t say no to some healthy ingredients but as you I rather have the mushrooms in my lunch or dinner. Actually I found the perfect umami spice mix that makes for super delicious fried mushrooms.
Hey! Was wondering if you would do a vid on vegan snacks. In this vid you mentioned shiitake snacks for instance - would love to know if you make them. Plus what kind of popcorn is good, do you go plain? I would love healthy vegan snacks recs
I am SOOO into your style, your home and wardrobe Jenny!!!!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Just watching you there in and between all the beautiful footage and listening to you talking about mushrooms, your lovely book, comfy clothes and the perfect sunnies 🍄🍉☀🍋 is delicious! Enjoy your summer!!!! I am not buying any of the short living trends. But I did get a few super comfy summer pieces ⛱ from my favourite fair fashion brand. Beside that I´m looking forward to my holidays in Italy with hopefully enough vegan versions of pasta and pizza 🔥 -BUT! Your book seems out of stock! 😔
I’m convinced the mushroom supplement fad is a tech bro business fad, preying on people feeling health fomo when actually they don’t need to drink mushroom coffee but to take a day off 😅
I do need to buy new swimsuits since I lost weight and while I could get away with oversized dresses and shirts, it would be a real problem if my bikini was too loose 😮 👙 🩱 😅
I have 2 oversized giant silk scrunchies (I don't need more than 2!). One is a deep red, the other a navy/peach/lavender tie-dye, both lovely! I don't have enough hair to wear them out (unless I'm using them as a bracelet, adds a fun pop of color and texture to a monochrome outfit), but what I love is wearing one of them in my hair in the evening while doing my skincare. It adds a layer of luxury to a mundane routine. Just something inexpensive that makes me feel good! But I do love how they look on people with thicker hair!
Don't see the point of adding mushrooms to my coffee. But I do give my dog with dementia powdered Lion's Mane mushrooms, lol! I also personally prefer to eat them fresh (or dried).
Love your warm and cozy channel 🌸🩷 this place makes me feel welcomed and accepted with no judgement. This type of content really makes you think about your choices and ı loved that. Thank you for not feeding the consumerism trend and focus on the important stuff. Lots of love ✨
Not been happy with how female swimwear is not supportive, comfortable and stylish. Honestly I’m sticking with men’s swim shorts and a sports bra/tee combo for max comfort and gender euphoria ❤ 😊 everybody deserves to feel good in their own skin, sometimes it takes going a little outside the box to find that personal, sweet spot Happy summer folks!!
