One of the most impressively well written films I’ve ever seen! The dialogue here is completely captivating throughout! 🤩 The acting is sublime, and couldn’t have been casted better than with Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine and Fred MacMurray! The Apartment is my absolute favourite Billy Wilder film and was 100% deserving of the Best Picture, Director and Screenplay Oscars 🏆 Not to mention that smooth jazz music as Baxter gets to his apartment is just😍😍😍

I, also, this is my most favorite movie in my whole life. At my age of enterring the world, this movie...especially Jack Lemmon's act hit my soul. Thanks for uploading!!

Interesting little bit: in the narration he says the population of New York is about 8 million and 42 thousand. It hasn’t grown that much in 60 years. It’s just under 8.5 million now. This is because now most new buildings are commercial not residential. Genius from wilder, Lemmon and support cast here. The actor playing Kirkby’s delivery is perfect, Lemmon of course is sublime. Has always been my favourite film from dialogue, story, performance, art direction, framing and the use of black and white to give it that classic edge. Finishing comedies is the hardest thing. The third act of the apartment is perfectly constructed. It’s a masterpiece.

I was 23 when this film came on at 2am. I had been on home from work just an hour. I used the tv as a distraction. That night, it changed my life.

Another Wilder winner! Love the cracked mirror. Lemmon and MacLaine are perfect together. Another iconic last line: " Shut up and deal, " joins with Brown's " Well, nobody's perfect! "

(This is Tom, not Sandra.) This film is in my Top 5 Best Movies of All Time!!!! I watch it every-so-often when l have the inclination to cut it on. Jack Lemmon is Superb as C.C. Baxter!! I love the early '60's vibe to it, also. I was a real young kid when this movie was made. I love the time period, also. Thank you for posting this clip. (Tom)

I’ve watched this movie many times. As an older adult, the number of married guys who cheat, cheat, cheat - - bothered me. Plus all those women dating married guys, who use them - - without any real/true feelings toward them at all!! Yet I do like Shirley M and Jack L, they had great onscreen chemistry between them. The film sort of helps ladies to realize that if they aren’t careful, this could happen to them. Still would give this film a 10/10.

$900 rent a month for a place half a block from central park and $1000 weekly wage for a basic office job. That makes rent less than 25% of his income. What went wrong in this country.

By today's standards it would be worth 965.34. Also there was a Scene in Man In An Orange Shirt (UK) where Michael Berryman who works in a Bank sits at a Table with other Colleagues and does his Banking while a Young Lady with a Cart picks up correspondance.
