Also Handbanana was created using Shake's dna. Shake put his hand in Carl's pool that was being used as the cloning tank to make Handbanana causing him to look like Shake's hand.
I believe the reason everything explodes in the aqua teen house is because it's said Frylock clones everything so much it's all molecularly unstable. Personally I always felt it was Shake's unconfirmed super power (like Frylock's eye beams).
Markula, their 40,000 year old Vampire landlord also uses Necromancy most foul to resurrect their house and all of their belongings within. That, and Frylock’s cloning everything constantly, too…
Fun Fact: the strange dimension from the Broodwich episode has an art style that pays homage to animator Don Hertzfeldt, who was an early influence on the Aqua Teen writers.
Did you know meatwad was in a Dodge ram commercial? This guy was choking on a piece of meat so the driver drives at high speed and then hits the breaks so the meat shoots out of him. Meatwad is splatted on the window and he says "sweet".
Interesting stuff! Something you may not have known, in the video game Diablo III, you can randomly find a weapon called the "Ancient Bonesaber of Zumicalis," which is a reference to something said by the Plutonians in "Universal Remonster." The description of the weapon in the game even says that a worn inscription on the blade says 'Emory and Oglethorpe.'
You missed probably the biggest ATHF crossover, when they appeared at the end of a Sealab 2021 episode with speaking roles and everything. Turns out the entire episode of Sealab was actually a video game in the Aqua Teen world and Shake and Meatwad were playing it. Don't remember the name of the episode, but it was an early one about Feng Shui.
I actually never gave Sealab 2021 a proper watch before, but after hearing about this I think I'm gonna start binging the series later today. Thank you for letting me know about this! I will definitely add this to the iceberg chart!
@@ZeroOmens Oh buddy, you need to watch Sealab. It's another show without much continuity so you don't even have to start with the beginning. I have always showed people the Stimutacs episode first.
@@ZeroOmens if you like Archer, you'll like Sealab, they were made by the same guy, in fact you can trace a lot of jokes and callbacks in Archer to Adam Reed's earlier shows of Sealab and Frisky Dingo.
A few pieces of trivia not on the iceberg, I'm not sure if all of them fit onto it but I wanted to share regardless. 1) There was a real website created that was based on the internet yzzerdd from the episode "Interfection" which worked exactly like the virus that invades Frylock's room. Like kingcolon, the site sadly no longer exists and redirects to the adult swim website. 2) When seasons 9 and 10 were announced to the public via press releases, the creators of the show released fake promotional images and plot details to trick news sites and interviewers. I remember articles about a baby pepper joining the cast for season 9, which obviously never happened. 3) In the Adult Swim New Year's crossover special, it's revealed that Thundercleese (the giant robot from The Brak Show) was created by Frylock. They also share the same voice actor. 4) Balloonenstein, the giant yellow balloon from the episode of the same name, can be found hidden in the background of several episodes throughout the series, even showing up as late as season 10. 5) The Mooninites were originally planned to be ghosts spawned from a landfill of the video game crash in the 1980s, explaining why they resemble Atari game sprites. Additionally, new Mooninite character designs were created for artwork in the volume four DVD box and were reused as the rescue squad in season 10's finale. 6) The very short intros from aqua donk side pieces that feature characters dancing were originally not present and we added onto the shorts later on. The lower quality of animation showcased implies that they were made very quickly and at the last second. 7) After Carl transforms into a mutant in the Plantasm teaser clip, every line of dialogue let out by him and his babies are quotes from previous episodes. 8) The first split second of the "dancing is forbidden" voice clip can be heard at the beginning of the Williams Street logo in nearly all shows that used it during the late 2000s and early 2010s. 9) The "Butt Frenzy" magazine often read by Shake and Carl features the asses of the show's writers on the front and back cover. 10) In the original airing of the series finale, when Meatwad wants to make one last joke, he is cut off by an advertisement for Destiny: The Taken King.
I was out of high school when we got ATHF.. me and my friends would smoke blunts, play halo, and watch ATHF high af in the early 2000s ... Fun times... I miss them days sometimes
Regarding their age: Oh... i always thought all three of them were teenagers and it was sort of an expression of how fucked up being a teenager really is 🤣
I'm surprised frylocks gem wasn't on the iceberg, it actually has a lot of lore, theories and inconsistencies. the Jewel of Idahocales or the Jewel of clamydio are the jewels in frylock, shake, and meatwads the later two being revealed in the finale also in the finale it's revealed that shake has always had laser eyes he's just never used them meatwad probably also has laser eyes but considering he traded his gem for chicken nuggets and is still rolling around I assume the gem did nothing for him. I guess Dr. weird gave meatwad a gem to keep with the gem theme or because he had an extra one lying around or maybe weird just forgot to connect the wires like he did with frylock or maybe meatwad rolling around disconnected it. I got a theory about shakes gem, does it not work or is something wrong with his eyes? i don't think shake is illiterate, I think he physically can't read. the only times he's ever read something are when they're in big bright letters or he guesses the context the only other time he reads something is the contact lenses episode, that episode is really my only evidence, shake can only read and shoot lasers when he's got the contacts so he's just got bad eyes
hey they also had character growth. at the beginning meat wad would fall for shakes b.s. bit in the later seasons meat wad starts to give it back to him ... like a lot.
I started watching when I was about 9 years old, and that probably explains why my IQ was higher at the age of 8 than now at 23... but the show was an absolute masterpiece, cant beat it
You forgot to mention that Carl is too cheap to go forward with the spayed and neutered treatment of handbanana. He decides to just let him rot on his back side.
I watched an episode of The Venture Bros today (the one where the Necromancer, the Alchemist, and the Blackula hunter are interviewing Guild members to get an arch enemy) and I swear I heard Rabbot saying "mondaymondaymondaymonday"
This show left such an impression on me back in college. I still listen to Carl sing "ill be home for Christmas" every year. Classic. Cant wait for the 2nd movie! Great vid
I always appreciated how consistent this show was. Like, I watch early family guy. It's way different from modern family guy. Same for early simpsons vs new simpsons. But Aqua Teen, I can jump into any season and still have a great time. The only episodes that feel off are the first 2 of season one. But that was just to trick the network.
Fun fact I don't hear discussed often, the first like... millisecond or two of the first ending theme, or just of the sound clip "Dancing is Forbidden" can be heard a frame before the William Street identifier after the credits of some older [as] shows, Aqua Teen included obviously I'm not sure they still include it but I feel like it still might occur on a show or two, maybe on the new stuff but I'd have to check.
Ah, I should have mentioned that when I brought up Dancing Is Forbidden in the video. I'll have to bring this up in the future if I make a sequel to this video. Thanks for letting me know!
loved all of the guerilla marketing adult swim did back in the day. definitely helped promote adult swim, back in the early 2000s in central florida. The space kataz battery powered, guerilla campaign, needs to go down in g marketing history
The City of Townsville is basically a metropolis location based on locations in Toronto, LA, San Francisco, Portland, but mostly New York City. 1:03:52
some extra voices i like: h jon benjamin also played mothmonsterman and the crack dimension creature from broodwitch in addition to don shake, rachel dratch from snl played the robot wife, david cross was a regular guest playing happytime harry and bert banana (and others i think), and tim scharpling wasn't exactly a guest star at the time, but the voice of willy nelson and would go on to become greg universe.
There used to be these youtube videos called "aqua teen brawl force" and "aqua unit patrol squad brawl" that basically took the audio from the episodes and used screenshots from super smash bros brawl for the visuals, i watched em alot when i was a kid but idk if they still exist or not
Frylock, Master Shake, and Meatwad: If you remove portions of their names you get: “Master Lock Wad”, which is the intellectually-stimulating, philosophical mystery-puzzle that is every episode and it takes copious amounts of cannabis to fully realize this.
Aha so you forgot one key piece of trivia! The REASON everything explodes in the house was revealed in an Adult Swim bumper, sometime between seasons 3-5 It's because Frylock CLONED so many things in the house
I believe Carl is infact insane. Shake, meat wad and all the wacky characters are in his head The mooninites are infact superior and just meta AF. Physical digital 2d avatars.
Guys, I said Mojave with a J sound on purpose. I'm very aware that the J in Mojave is silent. The reason why I said Mojave Desert with a hard J sound is because Markula said Mojave with the J sound and I thought it was hilarious. While I understand that a lot of you are trying to be helpful, I get it. Chill with the Mojave comments 😂 Just enjoy the video and have a nice day.
I’m surprised you forgot about the Adult Swim 2004 New Years Party clips. It’s the athf characters interacting with all the other Adult Swim shows characters at the time. Surely that would be low on the iceberg
A little ill-known fact I for some reason know: Dana Snyder plays Smooth Move’s brother, Buster Move, in the Netflix original series “Turbo Fast”, in which he sounds literally near identical to Master Shake. Didn’t realize this until I started watching ATHF myself.
I swear to everything on my life. Circuit attack was some short or advert I saw on adult swim as 10 year old or so. I’m 26 now and this show honestly shaped my childhood and life in general. I went and saw the movie on my birthday and I vividly remember the circuit attack “teaser” I really didn’t want that to be a thing. So it’s wild how many memories your videos have unlocked from my desensitized mind 😂
Imagine being the police, being so incompetent that you artificially cause a panic then abuse your authority by forcing others to pay for that mistake.
Dang, I was really hoping for you to mention "The Mouse and The Mask." As it's a hip-ho album made by MF DOOM in collaboration with Adult Swim. There's a ton of cameos from a bunch of their characters and even a full song dedicated to the titular show. It's pretty dope and I recommend it!
I actually received a similar comment about the album. Believe it or not, I've never heard of the album before, but I plan on checking it out/adding it to the chart. If I ever make a part 2, I'll talk about it. Thanks for the suggestion though! 💙
1:05 - 1:09 thanks for including my icebergs, it means alot to me. also for the second one i had to browse through all the files to make sure it was mine.
Of course! Thank you so much creating the charts. They really aided in the creation of my current chart. Your entries were awesome too. I had a lot of fun researching and learning about the entries.
@@pixilatedink.7920 Thank you so much! That's a good question. There's two ways. If you click the link in the description, and go to the iceberg website with my chart, you can sign in and propose an entry at the bottom of the page. Or you could just leave a comment on this video with some entries that you feel should be added to the chart and I'll take a look at them. Which ever option is easier for you haha
@@ZeroOmens oh well if you look at the episode "monster" when shake jumps out the window at the end, pause the scene and look at bottom right corner, you can see a weird reflection of some toothless smile.
@@pixilatedink.7920 Oh really? I don't think I've ever noticed. I'll have to rewatch that episode later tonight and check it out. Thanks for the suggestion!
Never watched watched much of Venture Bros but what I do like about the show is all the interesting characters they create. I always felt like with all the fun characters they could have a giant toy line like G.I. Joe.
Is it just me or not all of the villains really count as villains? The Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas Past from the Future, as an example, thinks he's a hero trying to save mankind. Also Mothmonsterman who was just obsessed with a light, though he did lay eggs in Carl. There's probably some others.
You're totally right and I feel the exact same way. Like I mentioned in the video, I don't really see Ol' Drippy and Major Shake as villains. And I agree with you on Cybernetic Ghost too. To me he's more of an inconvenience because he sucks people into his long boring stories haha There's definitely more characters that don't really fall under the villain umbrella.
@@ZeroOmens no problem! I split the video up and so I figured others might do the same thing and might want a quick way if they've already heard the intro. Just finished it a few mins ago, great job. Only thing I wanted to comment on was that you did bring up "dancing is forbidden", but the I believe the reason that it's on the iceberg is because that voice line is the "lyrics" for the end credits. Closed captions get it wrong a lot of the time since it's kind of warped and repeated multiple times.
Favorite episodes everyone? Mine is probably Super Computer. I quote it all the time. Thank you so much for this! ATHF is one of my favorite shows. I've been watching since the Baffler Meal episode of Space Ghost: C2C and I know there's not supposed to be any continuity to it but to me it really seems like the show is about the slow decent of a well meaning genius (Frylock) into absolute madness. I think you can really see it in later episodes like Fry Legs and 100. This show just makes me so happy and so does this iceberg! Also, my favorite intro is Aqua Something You Know Whatever. Edited to say: I would love to see a Space Ghost: Coast to Coast iceberg.
Super Computer is definitely a great episode. I think Broodwich, Handbanana Bible Fruit, Ezekiel, and maybe The Last One Forever and Ever For Real This Time We Mean it are my top favorite episodes. That's a really good theory too. I mean Fry Legs was such a departure from the standard smart and knowledgeable Frylock that we've come to know and love. Maybe Frylock was actually just going insane throughout the series. Very glad that you enjoyed the video. Thank you so much! 💙 A Space Ghost Iceberg is totally possible. We'll have to see what happens haha
Two things. 1. OMG AN ATHF ICEBERG VIDEO LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO. 2. I checked out that ATHF cursed videos playlist... I didn't expect to be in that playlist lol.
Dancing is forbidden was remixed into the ending theme. Also the Christmas bot's voice was changed in later airings and home releases of his debut episode. No idea why.
Perfect! I'll add these to the chart. I wonder if the creators changed Cybernetic Ghosts voice because they were not fully satisfied with the original voice. Guess we'll never know haha
"I gotta be extra careful with the words I use to explain who Handbanana is and what exactly he does." I can already tell this is gonna be a great iceberg vid lol
For years, I heard Shake say "you can't clean your trumpet" in the outro until my wife told me it was "dancing is forbidden". Then I could hear it as that too. Anyone else or is that just how my brain works?
I always thought the renaming of ATHF was just Adult Swim being weird like calling out upcoming shows as Squidables, Robert Chicken, weird bumpers that looked kind of like the show, editing mustaches on faces, ect. Stroker and Hoop was airing around that time and I thought that might have inspired the 70's detective thing. Either way it's not the same without MY NAME IS - SHAKE ZULA THE MIC RULA
Would highly recommend watching Avatar the last Airbender, American dragon Jake Long, Adventure time, Codename kid next door, Gargoyles, and just about anything Jetix used to air before it was taken over by DisneyXD. I'm talking the classics like all the Power rangers and Ying yang yo that got me through my childhood. Most of those I think could make a cool iceberg, especially Jetix, nobody remembers Jetix and it makes me very sad
I've seen Avatar, Adventure Time, Jake Long, and KND. I'd love to do some icebergs on those shows at some point. I've never heard of Jetix before to be honest. Was it like an old network?
Jetix was a Disney owned company that as far as I know was replaced by the current running Disney XD. It had quite a few of my beloved childhood shows that don't much come on anymore like Grossology, Ying yang yo, American dragon, Kid vs kat, Jackie Chan adventures, Spiderman ultimate, Recess, the X-Men cartoon, Fantastic 4, Lazy town, Chaotic, Jimmy two shoes, KND, Pucca, shuriken school, Gargoyles and so on and so on. A true loss to cartoons everywhere@ZeroOmens
@Goblin in Shadows I remember Jetix profusely as I am ancient enough to have been in high school when it aired. I’ll be 37 this year, you want real animated enjoyment look up the shows we had as kids in the 90’s; Pirates of Dark Water, Savage Dragon, WildC.A.T.S., Mighty Max, and The Bots Master were gems back in my day.
