I hung out with Travis Barker at the 1996/1997new year's eve show at the San Diego Sports arena. He came up and watched one of the band's play. Didn't realize who he was. That's how awesome he is haha. Thanks Travis. Coolest dude ever. Next thing I knew he was up on stage playing with the Aquabats.
Travis just loves music, and playing drums. I remember once reading, or seeing an interview in the early 2000s where Travis said, as a kid, he met Bob Barker, who was such a douchebag to him as a young fan, that when he started to become famous, he vowed never to be like that and always take time for his fans.
I’ve literally never seen a clip of Travis Barker giving any less than 300%. And nothing feels better to a musician than to go back and play the stuff you played as a young pup. He’s loving it here.
and even better, you can tell the band is loving it, Im sure the drummer they have is solid, but they havent had someone like travis barker behind them on the kit in a long long time, probably feels pretty awesome.
i can't explain why i love the Aquabats so much but seeing/ knowing Travis barker played drums for them is just crazy. The Aquabats had a damn TV show and Blink 182 needed a drummer what a time to be alive.
Ok, I was very pumped and happy to see Travis perform on stage for this song... But what really made my jaw drop, was when I noticed Cat Boy on stage also!!!!! I'M SO HAPPY I AM WATCHING THIS TODAY!!!
People seem to think Travis Barker up and joined Blink 182 from some garbage unknown band but the Aquabats were actually quite highly regarded at the time. Their previous album at the time released in 1997 charted at 172 on the Billboard 200 list so switching bands wasn't totally without risk for him. Clearly it worked out for everyone.
@@westyboi1845it charted higher due to the fact that fire met lightning with Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker. Blink 182 actually sucked before that. - because Tom sucks tbh lol
@@ThatOneGirlThatPlays What? Dude Ranch didn't have Travis Barker? Some of there best songs are on dude ranch eg Dammit, Josie etc. It charted better here in Australia and did ok in America. Even before dude ranch they had Carousel, M&m's
@@stevenglansberg4448 yeah, Eric Wilson, the bass player. I was so sad when the drummer Bud Gaugh quit over the name not feeling right. It's not the same without him, so I stopped following the band.
I had no idea Travis use to play in the Aqauabats. I loved blink 182 for Travis and now its come full circle seeing him play in the Aqaubats again even just for one song.
@@RealityNonSequitur he joined in 1997, not sure who the OG drummer of Aquabats was lol but Barker made the band ten times better, just listen to the different versions of the song idiot box and you'll know what i am talking about. Barkers version is on the fury of the Aquabats and the original drummer is on the return of the Aquabats. the drum styles are insane. made me a fan of Barker
I can see how the quirkiness, originality and energy of Yo Gabba Gabba came from. All of their songs are fun and irreverent, you just can't resist in dancing to it!
I like how even though he's wearing a costume you can tell it's Travis because of how he always bobs his head and has his sticks super high every time he drums.
I never forget that travis is about as good as they come, but every once in a while I see him do shit like this and it hits me just how good he is. the man is a literal drum machine
I wish we had more aquabats/blink182 shows. This song brought me back to when my friend first downloaded it and it was instantly our new favorite ska song lol
...after living a year in Oxford, England--end of April, 1998...I saw my family in LAX for twenty minutes--flew straight into Oakland and went to Henry J. Kaiser to see Madness, DHC, Blink-182--with Travis drumming for the first time, still wearing his Aquabats suit...who opened the show.
I'm most impressed that Travis doesn't just shatter every drum on every song. Dude has no mode other than "hit the dang heck out of it." This is not a complaint or criticism.
ITHINK I SAW THE AQUbata at a earth day show in fullerton where i net my my nowwwife ! When we have all died from wHAT WE HAVE DONE TO EARTH THE PLANET WILL BE JUST FINE AND BACK TO NORMAL!
@@edgarbanuelos6472 He deserves way more praise as a drummer. He's also a consummate businessman and it might be why people like to ignore or rag on him. But anyone dissing his playing is deaf or retarded.
Interesting because musicians are still big for knotts. They're mostly part of boysenberry festival or summer nights. Although just bands playing covers.
This reminds me of the first time I saw Blink 182 with Travis.... Holy moly... On the way we were saying how it was messed up Scott was no longer in the band, needless to say our minds were changed.
I remember back in 1990 something I was in 8th grade and I dated this girl who took me to Aqua bats concert and I remember walking in seeing and hearing these fools. Walked right and never talked to her again
