You didn’t mention how back in the day, people in maps would form parties and take turns dying to the map boss and goto-ing to take over the fight so that the HP doesn’t reset
To be fair there are still some impromptu parties being formed when facing ultra bosses today, as it was 15 years ago. Having this game exclusively being coded with Flash presented similar challenges of typing the goto command right before the boss dies as it was back in the day when lag was still an omnipresent issue. Imagine being the guy who missed a fight with Azalith.
@@dabikerboy Nah this was before necromancer, and when Necro did release it literally shook the game, you just KNEW someone was a badass if they were walking around with Necro's skeleton pet lmao
Nostalgia when you called for help for red dragon. My fave moment is the "save the dragon from the princess" twist. Also the epic sepy vs king alteon fight
I miss aqw without solo classes. I remember my first grind for necromancer. Once i got it, i stopped hanging out at yulgar and town to find new allies and form relationships with other players with similar goals. This game was super immersive back when i was a jit. Long live BattleOn!
Wow, this is honestly one of my favourite video's that's come out all year. It seriously speaks to my autism in the way no other video this year has. The undertaking of going through each storyline as released is just such an amazing way to experience the game in a way that I don't think 90% of the dumb kids playing at that time could've, as at least I was completely unable to follow anything in order when I was playing in like 2013. So having you take us through the quests with such passion and detail is just fucking amazing. ALSO HOLY SHIT YOU JUST HAD TO ADD THE BEST SONG EVER OUT OF NOWHERE????? Like you had to drop specifically the live version of Long Season on us like that?? Like having an amazing script and flawless editing wasn't enough, no even your music throughout this whole video just also had to be fucking incredible as well. Goddamn.
Thanks man, I'm glad I hit the nail with my approach for you. I really wanted to add more songs that I love, but I had to severely turn down the volume on some, which wasn't satisfying, so I switched to OST's in the other parts.
@@bonaquador Yeah you killed it, also good foresight on the audio there. It's really tough using complex Post Rock and shit as background music cuz it's so detailed and captivating that you compromise with the mixing. The ost's work a lot better in that sense lol, but it really doesn't give the video that same personal touch as having your favourite music does.
thanks for making this vid, i honestly forgot about the lore of the game by this point, 10 years after playing this, the lore had so many weird swings and changes and remakes (especially the beginning/tutorial)
Still play on and off to this day, my biggest break was from 2016-18 and yeah that made me rethink what the direction of aqw was heading towards and if I should still play at all. But hear I am still loving the game for what it truly is. Absolutely love this video. NULGATH NATION FOREVER!
I recently got back into AQW after several years of not playing. It's great to see this videoseries to remind me of the good times, as well as the story beats that I had forgotten. I had thought about starting a new account and documenting all of the releases in order, but it looks like I wont have to do that now.
This is such an awesome video. I played a lot of AQW on and off through my childhood and I recently got back into it on my original 11 year old account because of the AQWI news
Thanks for this videoman, aqw was 100% my childhood. I dont play anymore but watches content from time to time for that sweet sweet nostalgia. The clips you showed especially the dragonlair red dragon flashes me back to my childhood, and thats an experience that a few things in this world will give me.
This vid deserves much more than it has. Its crazy, your work is crazy and so entertaining. Please keep it up. Would love to watch more videos from you, even if new vids derive from the lore of aqw. Keep it up mate 🫶🏻
This video is AMAZING! I've necer seen a video of this quality that resumes so well the story of AQW even with the events that i didn't even remembered were part of the story lika Nythera's! Amazing work!
@@bonaquador Commented after the first 2 min or so. A Dane can always tell apart a Dane haha. Really well English and superb video, gonna watch ep 2 and 3 tmrw morning. Ruined my sleep bcz of this masterpiece
I might be few months late But as Someone who played adventure quest and AQW i really love this story breakdown and deatils on the gameplay, looking forward to Watch the next eps after this one!
miltonius and dage were the reason aqw never died in 2011-2013, it literally brought soo much joy to the game as a miltonius fan, it was the best era in aqw that had hard quests to farm also.
Remember playing this with my dad alongside games like city of hero’s/ Villians. Grew up blessed with a gamer dad always had the access and good internet lol
They couldn’t find a solution that felt fair, translates to: “Cysero had a hissy fit when the player base didn’t like his original solution and in a passive aggressive show of power removed all the items” You could tell that what Milt did made a lot of AE’s higher ups mad. Cysero being chief among them. I hated AQW when he ran it and I am glad he is gone. He was a jerk and the majority of the player base dislikes him. Edit: it was a real laggy SShow. Eye was there lol
Aww man this is awesome! I played when it first came out and just recently got back into it and was so sad to see that people don't really play the storyline anymore. I keep dying to the chaos beasts bc of it. So now I'm working towards building my level up so I can solo them hopefully. Kinda sad, but at least we still have players at all!
The 13 lords of chaos was the best then when the mirror realm appeared it blew my goddamn mind i haven’t been on since 2019 damn i just realized I've taken like 8 years off from playing almost
Hey I'm thinking about coming back to this game and play (invest my time). Do you think it's worth it? Cause some others were saying the game is no more good as the cash grabbing is getting even more ridiculous
From my experience, the game plays like it did back in 2008, and I think that type of gameplay has aged poorly. The game was special because of the time we played it. I don't think I missed the game, I just missed the good memories I had of being a kid and playing it. As for the hate of microtransactions, I don't think it's warranted. There is a lot of it, but it is purely cosmetic, and has always been the business model, to keep it free to play. The modern hardcore fanbase seems to be the predominant voice of the community. Sadly, many are very toxic and misogynistic towards the staff. So should you invest time? You can if you want to, but I don't recommend dedicating too much of it. If you get too invested, you risk joining the hate mob who'll never be satisfied. It's best to just enjoy it for what it is, and not expect more.
@@bonaquador I disagree about the microtransactions. It is one thing when there are things you can buy for real money, which is of course fine, since they need to make money - but it is not fair when it affects the free stuff. Look into how the items and shops and events developed over the years. The amount of "free" items (drops, items for gold) is wayyyy lower. It is usually like like 2 or 3 items from from a shop now, if that, and they are mostly just "side items", worse quality than the rest.
ah i remember this game was playing it back in 2009 and tried it today with new account because somehow i cant find my old account i think it was banned or maybe hacked. but i noticed something about this game that it has became pay to win but other than that its not bad game if you missed your childhood
Interestingly the account of dage666 is in the void, meaning nobody has played on her long enough to go inactive, while dages dage the evil acc is lv 40 and active. Beleen, ai no miko, rolith, tomix, ezio, zazul, randor the red current and former employees accounts are also into the void.... Which shows you how much they care for their own games.
Bear in mind, a lot of those staff members are either not working on AQW anymore, or have functions in the company that exist entirely outside of the game.
@@bonaquador i do, but not logging in, into your acc for that long till it goes in the void.... cysero's acc is functional i just think that not logging in god forbid once a year is insane
@@bonaquador While true, none of the staff actually playing the game is a bad sign. Not to mention they used to actually play their own game back in the day.
