Here are 3 Ballester Molinas including an Army, Border Guard, and British examples and each are in 45 ACP. This pistol was a variant of the M1911A1 pistol that is mostly based on the Spanish Star B pistol.
The model with a number starting with B near the trigger, are of BM sold by Argentina to UK during the 2nd. World War. Such BMs were sold to UK for SAS and desert operation because of the lack of grip safety that jamms in the desert. A total of 8,000 were sold to UK. The serial number goes on the left side of the grip and the UK exported models had a second number starting with "B" near the trigger.
Another video said that "B" prefix stands for Britain in front of their "inventory control number." The markings on the barrel itself is an original Britain number, but the actual serial number was near the back on one side of the lower grip area.
Took mine off a A 109 Hirondo pilot when he surrendered his aircraft AE 311 to me. Port Stanley racecourse 14 June 1982. It had different grips, custom made "combat grips" by Pachmeyer if I remember correctly. Good pistol.
You should return it to the owner. Veterans form both sides are returning Helmets and other captured personal stuff . ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CzX7Edl0MVo.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qqophMb_4Qw.html I express my respects to veterans from both sides.
I think you got a superb collection piece over there. Prefix B are rare and as everyone is saying they were issued to special British forces, they need a unmarked and difficult to ID pistol if they were captured. That's what I heard.
If you still have the opportunity to buy one of those buy it, the unmarked one may be british, take the grips and look for a victorian tower, an armorer in Argentina told me that, all british molinas were marked that way.
Really? I just purchased one and I really love it.. I have yet to fire it but i am excited to.. im having a problem with it firing after cocking it though... after taking the side grip off it looks like there's a lever that clicks down that I have to push back up with the side grip off do you know whats going on with that? Do you have any advice on what I should do to get her to peak performance? I appreciate it Ty...
Many of these pistols were also used by the police until shortly before the end of the 20th century, when they were modernized at 9 mm, such as Bersa thunder, Beretta, HK. There is not yet a standard weapon in the police force of my country. Greetings from Argentina
Es no es así! Los distintos cuerpos policiales del país reemplazaron la BM 45 por la FM HP9 hace tiempo. Como la HP9 se dejo de producir cada cuerpo policial eligió el arma de reemplazo según sus necesidades, por así decirlo. Saludos

Other than using the same barrel and magazine as the 1911, the B-M has nothing in common with the 1911. Slides don't interchange. The trigger and sear are different. Not grip safey. No removable mainspring housing.
