His improvised solos are generally better than I can even imagine, let alone contemplate playing. I mean, normally when I listen to some guitar music, I can close my eyes and add embellishments to the solo that I think would add a little oomph. Just not possible here (for me). The solo exceeds what I think is technically possible, goes in rhythmic and harmonic directions which I have not conceived, and generally leaves me stunned and grateful someone has dedicated themselves to such mastery.
I don't believe we'll ever see guitar playing on this level anywhere or any planet anytime" ever " . . The guy has truly exceeded anything I thought humanly possible..
Seeing these guys live is like being in the presence of Beethoven or Michaelangelo. I can't imagine what they must feel when playing, its gotta be an amazing high
I have never ever witnessed live music like this. Every performance they do of the song is completely different from the last. Immensely rare this day and age to get a single musician on stage half as talented as these three, let alone three at the same time.
+Rick Rogers I concur Rick...every time Govan goes out there are massive improvements via progressive playing and accompanying musicians ...huge talent and irrevocable presence ....RTH
what probably amazes me most is that in a little over 12 minutes they play the song in almost every major genre there is in western music. Rock, Metal, Jazz, Funk, Bebop, Shred and Kids Toys (lets just call it a genre)... They don't care, they just do it because it pleases them. They could probably rerecord every one of their albums in a different style and it would sound absolutely incredible. And i know it is a song but every performance feels like a jam over one previously agreed melody but everything else is random.
@@Cluless02 Dude, shut the fuck up. No music is ever made to "show off." Only an envious, old fuck who doesn't truly understand music would ever suggest applying pitiful human ethics to such an important and enigmatic thing as music.
@@Cluless02 i dont think you get this band these mucisians enjoy playing their instrument they enjoy to play "showing off" is having fun with your instrument and thats basically this band they dont play for the money but as i see it they play it because they love playing their instruments and you can see that with every album its such a dumb take to say they "show off" for their "ego" because thats literally just having fun with your instrument. its why you see most musicians smiling when they do a solo because they just enjoy playing it im a bit limited in my english sometimes so i dont know if i got my point across but yeah
I like how Marco saves Miss Piggy's life at 10:45. Best drummer I've ever seen. Not to say that saving a toy pig from falling makes a great drummer, But MM is a great drummer, and he saved a pig from jumping off his rig while playing a gig. WOW
Hello einarabelc5. As the director/editor of this video I thank you very much. I didn't even know this upload existed. Thought I'd check the comments for the hell of it and found what you said. So in this case, the message came directly to the source and I am grateful for your kind words. Cheers!
@@jasonmcnamaradotnet Woow, I can write directly to the video editor! So many congratulations to you, this is a wonderful job, all this DVD! I hope you can work other times with The Aristocrats and with so many other great artists! Cheers from Northern Italy!
watching them live can not be described. They constantly challenge each other onstage and grin as they try to trip each other up but they always catch each other.
iDemandU90: I am the one who conceptualize, filmed & edited this video. Thank you for noticing & saying that. I appreciate it. If you want to see more of my work please go through my Ishibashi Music channel that I'm posting from here. Cheers, Jason
@@JasonMcNamara the video is fucking amazing so good job! in general i can already really appreciate the simple fact that the audio was lined up perfectly with the camera's for some reason this is a thing that so many videos already fail
Having listened to music for fifty-five years, it is refreshing to hear a new take on what is essentially jazz-rock +! Not only is this great playing, but it feels like some real boundaries are being pushed. Incredible fluidity.
Let's stop for a moment to appreciate the video editing! Amazing job which perfectly emphasizes each and every musical accent! I only wish the video was Full HD.
To get that sound from a 3 peace band at the End……..SERIOUSLY good engineers and a seriously good set of pedals. And so so so clean. A thing of beauty.
Maybe you guys should play the jam band festival circuit. I bet they'd mostly love you. I can imagine this with a top rate light show too. It would be insane.
By the time it gets loud and fast it feels truly well earned. Such a great lesson in building and releasing tension. Such patience. Surely I can't muster that much restraint as a musician.
I came to this band because of Govan. At this point, I can't really even say if he's the most skilled player in the trio. They're all so precise, so inventive, so dynamic. Can't find anything this refined in the prog/fusion type music anywhere, but I'm definitely open to suggestions if you got em
That tune was killer. Just fucking killer. It is Funny. Killer timing. Relaxed, DYNAMIC, focused, and zoned in. Tone forever. Amazing current heroes right there man. This is the stuff I live for. These guys carry the weight for new generations of players and listeners. With this level of inspiration and influence for future players, we will have no shortage of edgy quantum tunage to come. Thank you.
No one. I mean no one. GUTHRIE is THE MAN the grandmaster, literally god of gods of guitar player. There's elite playing A+++ then there's Guthrie Govan level of mastery.
I wish someone had introduced me to this super-talented trio of musicians AND composers! Just "discovered them the other night by chance. Beyond words excellent!
Marco quickly muffling that 18" floor tom with his finger after the fill was such a nice detail. It shows his concern with dynamics, which a lot of drummers don't care about.
When the audience starts clapping, that's when you know they're an audience of musicians, because usually people can't clap on time when the just have to clap the 1 2 3 4 beats and here they do a not that easy rythmic pattern flawlessy
I can assure everyone that every single performance from the DVD is at least as good as this. It's just brilliant all the way. Get it! (like that :D) I absolutely have to see them the next time they're around.
I love the groove ! I’m just so happy I can always count on you guys to bring the different exciting groove to music. Too often we become conformed to a certain way, if writing music. Your music seems to have less constraints, freakishly so. Inspiring for me. I’ll play along w my keyboard and have a great time w it.! Much love, & respect to you guys for going after what you love so well. It Shows !💕👍✌️
This is so good. i love every bit. What great musicians. I was lucky to see MM en BB live. Aristocrats are top on my list if they come to the Netherlands again.
Mega-WOW. During this stellar performance, each of them clearly exhibited their supreme brilliance. Different style but it reminded me of the magic of "Point It Up" live in Japan (not on YT anymore) Larry Carlton and group, where the keyboard player also let loose with stunning runs and playing). No comparing though.
That‘s just fucking genius work!!! Fucking high class!!! Although I know this song for perhaps 2 weeks I listened to it a million times... much better than the studio version... I love Guthrie
