How do those swashbuckling soldiers of the 'ArmA' world introduce newcomers to their extraordinary combat simulator? Why, through a catchy musical number, of course!
arma 3: because nothing else portrays the most realistic part of warfare, sitting in a random outpost for hours while the chain of command argues itself senseless
Computer science is a fairly rounded field even if it has a focus on programming... I'm sure a computer scientist knows how to start a computer smart ass.
Jack MS okay look I took classes with guys mayoring computer science and they told me they are more software specialist. of course the need to know how to at least fix a computer. I said computer engineer since its hardware related equipment and that is their specialty. so don't call me a smart ass for that.
Believe it or not, this is actually pretty accurate about how friendly and optimistic the ArmA community can be to newcomers who are genuinely interested in how it works.
@@ZVDhunter861 The official servers, at least for Zeus, are either super great and welcoming, or a buncha pricks who either TK you constantly, or they're very vocally racist/homophobic etc.
@@asherjuvatopolos1148 yeah it's pretty spotty, unfortunately there's not too much we can do about it. It is kinda funny though when I join and some dude just crashes an A-10 into spawn
You'd need to have the luck of a million lottery wins to even have your vehicle make it to the bush before being A. Shot to pieces B. Bugged go pieces C. Removed by zeus because "you're not suppose to complete the mission like that"
Gravity You probably shouldnt even be able to walk too far if youre carrying a launcher and 12 stingers in addition to a full combat load...That'd be only near 200lbs of gear...
i knew an iraq vet who watched half his fireteam die because they stepped on a rock wrong and got thrown a mile into the air, seeing that kind of thing messes a man up
@@nottherealpaulsmith Remember time when there was this article on the news about soldier who turned inside out and then launched into atmosphere? Yeah, me neither.
"Doisha, you were swiss cheese dude." "We could have saved him!" "He had 20 gunshot wounds of varying severity to his chest and more to his limbs and head." "...We still could have saved him!" "Graf, don't bother arguing with him" -Me and the bois yesterday, Graf being me.
@@peterscasny2803 more than half the ops i play are just 2 hours of hiking and waiting around, making dumb jokes and getting killed immediately in the first firefight . 10/10
@@oscarosullivan4513 There's pros and cons. Action is intense and you feel yourself less than human considering how much firepower can enemy put against you, so you start to consider what ever it was good choice to come here to gather more PTSD XP or stay home and drink chocolate milk. The down side is you might sometimes have to wait really long times for something actually happen because either pilots are busy or OBJ is 30 clicks out, so you and the guys start throw dummy jokes and share life story memories. So to summit up: There is no good sides and bad sides in the game, because everything ever happening there is same time fucked and annoying but hilarious and wholesome. All in all Arma is about rock 'n roll and war crimes while yelling "get some".
Well, no offence but nor the Name neither you taking this Video serious makes anyone stumbeling across your Comment thinking that you have over 1000h in any Arma Game. So fook off m8.
i remember the first time i played arma, i was quite sad that you could not jump. then i found out that you can lean, sit down, salute, change firemodes etc
I still remember being abandoned at night in the woods deep behind enemy lines because my computer couldn’t handle running along trees. I called out, but it was too late for me. I’d like to think my family thought I died a hero, and not some laggy mess in the dark.
Cpt. WinglyMc'Dingus: Even tho we never saw him again, in our hearts we all know he died as a hero. For such noble brave soul there is no bigger honor than the honor of his fatherland. Danner: Boys, boys? I'm really scared here, it's really cold also. Please come back. ;_;
I was in a helicopter one time and I accidentally ejected, landed on my parachute only to realize my teammates left me for dead. I couldn’t see anything and if I turned my flashlight on the enemies would see me. About like 10 enemies were literally right next to me Scariest moment in my life
No, no, no. The most boring you can have in Arma is nothing compared to the boredom in army, even the most boring in Arma is such joy compared to the boredom in army.
@@GrumpyGremlin. Watch someone get an idea for a mod and then you'll get the ultimate boring but realistic experience. I like the boring parts because it's inmersive and surprisingly fun, that's why I have a million mods to make the game be as close as possible to VBS3 lol
chriscos123 True you need to have patience's to play this game, i took me a while to memorize the keyboard and you don't go run and gun like in COD or Battlefield.
VideoGamePro I smoke a lot of one hits when I play this, then sit in buildings waiting until someone get's impatient and crosses my sights. Reminds me of deer hunting sometimes.
chriscos123 ArmA is simply a different kind of experience than CoD or BF. Not better or worse, but very different. If you enter either game with the expectation to get the other one, you'll be sorely disappointed. If you go into ArmA with the expectation of a quick gun and run game where you see "action" within the first minute of joining the area, your experience will be as awful as one of someone joining a CoD session with the expectation of heavy reliance on group tactics and "realism". I mean, let's face it, the preferred method of rearming if you're out of ammo in CoD is a respawn. Likewise, the idea of "fun" in ArmA can well be represented by 5 hours of assembling and disassembling a mortar without ever firing a shot (true story...).
The G key makes you check your pack... in this time and age, a dangerous bit of outdated information. Oh the humanity, oh how many pixels have suffered due to this!
0x777 Bought arma 3 and played with friends. One of them said take a gun you like out of that container. I can't open it. What do you mean? 3 teamkills.
It seems that RU-vid has reached through the fabric of space, the threads of time, the thin veil of reality. Through old alternate youtube accounts Ive long since lost the password for and found this gem, a thing I forgot I lost. A memory so sacred. And yet you have come back to me, here once again.
When you command up to 64 players, you feel like a captain but with rank comes responsibility. You need to adapt to any situation that will concur while playing the mission. Also follow the primary rule of combat: No plan survive first contact with enemy
+Dr. Bright Why did you go with the economy version? I get 10 minutes for a liter. Unfortunately my model can only use superior unleaded fuel, not ultra superior unleaded. :/ I'm not made of money.
Are we not going to talk about the fact that they were actually trying to teach him the game to some extent? That alone puts them ahead of most ArmA players.
Last time I played arma was... well.... I crashed a MH-53, fully loaded (I was even carrying a tank), because I was trying to pull a trick landing. I was so ashamed I never logged into another multiplayer game again.
"If you can learn to do it, I can learn to do it, but I can't wait to take my gun and actually shoot it!" Ain't that the damn truth about this game lol
I've played a lot of games where all I did was to assemble my mortar, calculate all TRPs, disassemble the tube, relocate, reassemble the mortar, recalculate all TRPs, disassemble... for 8 hours. Great fun. Yes, I know I'm weird.
@@0x777 I'd love to play a few games like that. Just as a change of pace. I usually have to play as the SL/Commander of our troops because we have quite a small player base. That is hectic as fuck when you have to be on so many different radios constantly yelling orders as well as command your own team and on top of that shoot. Chilling like that sounds fun :)
Arma: doesn’t have jumping Almost everyone that didn’t know this: What do you mean no jumping Meanwhile everyone who has brain cells: you can’t exactly jump very high with 50 pounds of gear on you along with the fact the humans don’t jump that high to begin with.
From my personal experience, when we carried full pack, gun, vest, etc... When we got bored we started to bunny hop over each others, sometimes we had to tie down people with ropes because they went floating in the air due the fact that gravity has no affect on you when having lots of shit to carry.
Man, I would love one of you keyboard warriors try to tell the drill sergeant that you can't jump with full equipment. Would tear you a new one and insert a spring in the new hole to get your arse off the ground.
1:53 as an Arma player I take offense to this. C does NOT make you crouch, it makes you stand, X makes you crouch, and Z makes you prone. Can't stand some people these days... *Sarcasm intended*
+Chubbs McGabbin Just go into the ArmA 2 editor, spawn a helo, and fly for a few hours. ArmA 3 would also work, seeing as the flight model is pretty much the same (to me, at least)
Get to arsenal you have 5 minutes. 5 earths laters... Alright mister Dildo Baggins, it's time to go get your as moving. Is he seriously still there changing t-shirts? Man, my wife got pregnant and gave birth already during this whole time. Yo, Dildo. C'mon man. Alright we're leaving without you, fuck this guy. Pilot go, we're not taking him with us. * Helo starts lifting * Wait, wait, c'mon guys. Sorry I was masturbating new backpacks.
Arma is not for everyone, and that is OK. Play it for Dayz if you want, but personally I still get the biggest high from a well placed laserguided bomb strike after 2 hours of crawling. I understand if that is not everyones fetish.
"after 2 hours of crawling. I understand if that is not everyones fetish." lol The problem with arma and why people hate it is actually the other way around. The ARMA ai is so dumb that you DON'T need to crawl for two hours. Actually you don't need to crawl at all. And the missions they give you are extremely short and arcadey.
Who the Hell plays Arma missions? 😂 Like we have a shitload of our own, scripted stuff, where AI is so badass that we actually managed to get in so big fubar, that the game duration was 28 hours 😂
what I like about this art style is that 1: they move with inertia and are cartoonish, like something which is supposed to be entertaining not only on a conscious level, but on the looks aswel. 2: their heads move when they talk...
***** Well, I have over 1000 and I still think it's great. You need to play with friends or something, even walking long distances can be fun with friends.
I remember my old PC making VERY SIMILAR sounds to this when starting the first ArmA. Especially during that cursed protection test thingy that would fail over and over despite the game being legal.
This reminds me of when my friend introduced me to Arma 2, and then we played the DayZ mod. Seriously though, Arma has one of the most complex control schemes I have ever experienced.
1:30 "I say we run and gun." "No, because that's too much fun." Reminds me of the moment I started actually enjoying the game. Due to me forgetting my thermal scope at base, a 10-minute sniper hunting mission at the hills turned to a 30 min session of "Ghillie or Grass". When we finally got the sucker, we realized we were on a hill next to a town full of enemies, in full view of their sights. We realized we were screwed, so my teammate (who was sitting next to me in real life) turned to me and said, dead serious. "Drop all your gear, run to the city, pray no bullets hit you." Miraculously we survived the mad dash down the hill, killed some CSAT with pistol, took their gear, and fought on (we cant escape the town because it's pretty much open terrain around it). In the end we died because while being rearguard I missed a guy on a balcony. The AI just unloaded his fukken Katiba into the small alley we were in.
Personally, I think DayZ takes away the action and excitement of ArmA 2. ArmA may be slow paced, but there is eventually a huge payoff. Nothing like leading a tank assault to take an entire town over while friendly jets pick off TOW missile batteries.
Pablo Montes Actually ArmA can be considered a military simulator, as it is one of the most accurate video games on the market, depicting proper combined arms, squad tactics, tactical and strategic maneuvering, and other things not really highlighted on the 'arcade' series of video games like BF, CoD, etc.
Haha, perfect. Regular ArmA is pretty underrated. But i like that a tiny percentage of people who bought the game for Day Z are actually playing some missions now.
ya played COD before some idiot in multiplayer started going off at everyone on his team because they got killed, and responded closely in such as you did that COD needs better mechanics
i had a moment like in movies i was walking throught the woods next to one of the towns and there were two guys laying there they saw me and unloaded in me i freaked out and emptied a whole clip into them and lived then i walked into a field and was killed by a tank =(
mashman86751 Once I was sprinting 300m while being attacked by a tank with it's main gun, machine gun and something like granade launcher... patata-boom-patata-boom-BOOM-patata-boom-patata-boom-patata-BOOM, and so forth for like 1 minute... that was epic xD
It's not as drab as this song makes it out to be. Playing missions like Escape (chernarus and takistan) with a small team of 4-8 reminds me of movies like Rescue Dawn or Red Dawn.
Someone tell sfctwZockt that I've add subtitles to all of my videos. You can press the [CC] button to enable them (and they aren't the horrendous auto-generated ones, either). I'd tell him myself, but RU-vid is apparently being a grumpy fart today and won't give me the option to "Reply" to his comment.
And if consoles are the automatic sharpener, mobile gaming is a manual sharpener, that you have to pay for to complete every sharpening. Like Candy Crush.
+Jeramiah Gatza Pisses me off that everyone just gets it for the survival shit and skips some of the really good gamemodes like Insurgency, Domination, King of the Hill, Tactical Realism, Invade and annex etc.
+ZoliantaoTechnology I wish more people played Invade and Annex and domination, they were some of my favorite tactical coop modes but now there is only a couple small I&A servers and no one playing Domination, King of the hill is okay when you get to around lvl 20 and can fly the A-143 Buzzard
ARMA 2 still had the gear bound to g, so pretty much everyone messed up playing ARMA 3 the first time. A good amount of players shouting "BAD FRAG! BAD FRAG!!" back then in our group... xD
