Mitch, I can't tell you how many Saturday nights my friends and I spent at the Armory and Backstreet from '88 to '97...I'll never forget how much fun we had. There is NOTHING comparable today!
First bar I went to in 1983. At that time, from the side patio all you saw of midtown was the Southern Bell tower. Now midtown is a sea of towers. I wonder what massive building of great importance will be put in the Armorys place ;-( Very sad when history becomes erased ...
Wow, thanks for this, Mitch.I partied at The Armory and at Backstreet many a night back in the 90's when I lived in Atlanta. So sad because those were the best of times and some of the finest guys to meet and party with too. I lived on Myrtle and could stay as long as I wanted, since I didn't have to drive home and worry about the DUI cops. LOL! Keep the memories coming if you have any old videos from back then to share. It will be missed for sure.
How sad. I started going there in 1975, I invested a LOT of money in those cheap little glasses full of liquor that I paid 50 cents for! The place should be declared a hazardouse waste site! But I will miss it. Lots of fond memories!! And lots of lost ones!
Working there for so many years, i can't tell you what is was like, I miss all my friends I (WE) have lost.. I am sure we know each other, Are you on Facebook?
